Came from Kevin Rand.
All over the tweets. Had one last Thursday
WELL THANK GOD!!!
Spectacular. Running directly away from first. That's an impossible throw, and he beat Brett Gardner easily.
Alfredo Simon can feel free to continue to pitch like that. I expected to really hate him by now, but at this rate, it looks like we might make it through May before I really despise him.
By then, JV should be recovered from his TJ.
MLB network will be broadcasting a game tonight using the new Statcast technology for the first time. Should be interesting.
Insert obligatory joke about MG2 downloading data directly from broadcast.
What timing, opposite the Wings game.
JV must have gotten the Tijuana special like Gordie.
Joe Nathan leaves rehab appearance “clearly in pain”
Apr 22, 2015, 12:50 PM EDT
Tigers closer Joe Nathan made a minor-league rehab appearance today at Triple-A Toledo and left after just 10 pitches while reportedly clutching his elbow.
Nathan is on the disabled list with a strained flexor tendon and was scheduled to throw one inning and/or 25 pitches. He ended up leaving in the middle of the at-bat against his third batter.
Prior to leaving Nathan topped out in the high-80s with his fastball and James Schmehl of MLive.comdescribed him as “clearly in pain” as he walked off the mound.
HPB, Walk, and two bloopers. Gay beginning to this game.
This is the dumbest game ever
While waiting for the other shoe to drop on Nathan...
The Tigers have sent Krol down and called up Alex Wilson. Dammit...I wanted Krol to be the reliable lefty this year.
Ouch...the shoe that dropped on Nathan was an anvil instead.
Joe Nathan out for the year... World Series, here we come.
Wilson can be a useful 'pen guy. I think Krol will get there at some point. I wonder if he's getting sent down for maturity reasons as much as pitching reasons - he was pretty good aside from the game on Tuesday.
Wilson has a 5:1 K:BB ratio through 5.1 in Toledo, a WHIP under 1 and has given up no runs and was a serviceable reliver for the BoSox last year. In his short career he's been effective against lefties, but not as much last year as 2013 (when righties murdered him).
He's a 28 year old "guy" who is effective when he throws strikes and ineffective when he doesn't.
That can't be it. I'm sure I read an article (Henning I imagine) that he had completely grown up from being an immature shithead last year.
Well, he would be far from the first bullpen guy who didn't figure it out until his late 20's.
Krol was probably sent down because, at some point, you can't give up bombs at the rate he does if you want to be a reliable bullpen arm. He's given up 2 this year. He's given up 13 in 65.2 career innings. Hard to trust a guy who can't keep the ball in the yard, and the two LHP in the pen along with him made him easy to send down.
Apparently, his buddies have access to his twitter account and were tweeting shit from it during a blowout loss yesterday.
sucks about nathan. that's probably the end for him.
At this point, having the insurance money is probably better than a $10M middle reliever.
And at least his career ends due to injury instead of getting released with a 7.85 ERA built on getting roughed up in the 6th and 7th innings of blowouts.
Simon moved to 4-0 today after another great start....weird.
Iglesias also made another sick play...really missed him last year.
I guess Simon might pitch well for a bit. I'll take it.
Soria has made 9 appearances. He's faced the minimum # of hitters in 7 of them. He's gone 1-2-3 in each of his last 5, which have turned into 4 saves and 1 win. Can't remember a stretch from a Tiger reliever with so little drama, and I love it.
He's a dream.
It makes me feel all funny. It might be lack of stress-induced adrenaline.
This offseason I was thinking how sweet it would be to have someone in the bullpen as competent as Todd Jones. Todd Fuckin Roller Coaster Jones. Maybe that series against the Orioles last year left me jaded but
Holy shit, Iglesias.
God its nice to have a good defensive team.
After sitting out a while after all their foolishness, the Royals took two "L"s today.
Back in 1st.
this makes me happy
From the team site, Verlander still has soreness, apparently from fluid in his triceps. He won't throw until he's free of soreness and then he needs to stretch back out.
Seems like a June return is best case at this point.
I'm glad they're finally dealing with it this way, instead of having him come back with some soreness still and then getting out of whack during his 15 adjustments he makes in the first 4 starts trying to compensate. Get him healthy and hope for the best at this point.
So this Shane Greene guy... woof.
But I like this Romine guy - hitting .667 heading into May!
8 K 0BB through 4 IP. 7 ER.
That'd like the ultimate Porcello start. Only Porcello wouldn't K that many guys in 4 innings.
Also, I like this Cabrera guy a LOT.
His BABIP is unsustainable.
as a platoon IF he's actually quite useful ...
HEY FUCKFACE, keep that shit to yourself ...
so Ausmus is pretty fucking terrible
Go fuck yourself racist
I will indeed be fapping to the mental images I have of Dave from tonight
What a bad ass
Get the fuck out of here you stupid racist son of a bitch. I wish I knew you irl so I could backhand slap the shit out of you, you heinous toad.
I like the Avila who goes to the opposite field.
Winning this game and splitting the series after that start would really take some of the starch out of the Royals' shorts.
