Based on this pic, glad he chose to make his career in baseball as opposed to being a rapist. Because the pic suggests option 2 was a real possibility.
Apologist McCosky. We haven’t developed anybody besides Verlander. Dave D traded for everybody or signed them in FA.
Harris is saying Jake Rogers is a backup or minor leaguer if we’re looking at Contreras. Avila’s Verlander trade could down as the worst trade in MLB history?
And the best prospect of that trade was a pitcher was waived by Avila a year ago and he cleared waivers! Cameron is horrible so I’m glad Harris is taking the trash out.
I don't know the pecking order of the two hitting coaches, but Brdar was the Padres' hitting coach last year and was with the Giants as a minor league hitting coordinator prior to that. He's only 28 years old. Beauregard worked as a minor league instructor with the Dodgers, I believe. We also now have former Michigan players as our pitching and hitting coaches, which seems odd.
Need to get rid of willi Castro and short. Assuming they will be first to go after we sign some free agents
I would absolutely pay Jeimer $6M out of hope that that he hits like 20-21 for 3.5 months so we can trade him for anything. It's just money.
I don't know if Harris will be any good, but I appreciate that he's not Al and is at least putting in some level of effort into improving the team. If we haven't already put more waiver claims in the last month than Avila did in 7 years, I bet it's close. I'm not expecting that any of those guys amounts to anything, either. But Avila refused to do stuff like that because he was terrified of waiving someone who could turn into something elsewhere. At the very least, I feel like the days of guys like Victor Reyes getting 5 years on the roster because "what if he magically starts hitting for power at some point?" are over.
Al was the worst. It's shameful they gave him seven years to let the organization languish to the point where the new guy needs to fire literally everyone.
I'm pretty sure when Harold Castro got called up the first time in 2018, he had already been on vacation for a week or two and they needed another IF to fill out the roster at the end of September. He had a wRC+ of 61 in Toledo that year and it was basically just a "hey, you've been around in the minors for 7-8 years and here's a big league cameo for you". That guy lasted another 4 fucking years on the roster and got over 1200 plate appearances. Such a joke.
