Yeah no thanks Lynn. Reading all the articles back in December, Hinch had input in all of our free agent signings, which turned into busts
So they're going to let Avila boggle one more trade deadline, then have Hinch name a new GM in the offseason?
Yeah Lynn, just like Cale Iorg huh? We are absolutely screwed if this guy is our 3rd baseman. May as well chalk up another losing season.
And of course during Avila’s press conference today, not one question from the beat writers about his job security/ and what has he done to deserve to keep it
he’s talking about what idiots on our team are going to miss the Toronto series because they didn’t get vaccinated.
This could use some updating. Torkelson sucks and will never hit big league pitching. Declared Bust Mize - April 15th Candelario - April 19th Barnhart - April 20th Baddoo - May 5th Manning - May 24th Torkelson - July 23rd E. Rodriguez - July 23rd Next on Bust List Jace Jung Jackson Jobe Roberto Campos
Jace Jung is next on bust list. If he’s like every other Avila pick, he should be on this list in the next year or so.
I wish our pitchers would stop getting injured every start so Ilitch can't use that as an excuse for Avila.
You mean Avila use that as an excuse. He is definitely pointing to Mize, Manning, and Rodriguez missing starts for his job security.
im starting to get to the point now where Hinch should be on the hot seat too (assuming the reports of him advocating for Baez and Rodriguez in the off season was true).
Yep. I’m fine if he sticks around, but if we get a new GM, that person should be the one to decide if Hinch stays or goes. I think Hinch is better than he’s shown, but this is inexcusable.
Would be one thing if they just couldn't hit. But they're embarrassing on a regular basis in the field and on the bases. I generally don't blame a lot of that stuff on the manager when you get to the big leagues like some do, but at some point he and his coaching staff certainly aren't helping the situation. I still think he's tactically a good manager and I'd be shocked if they fired him, but he's not blameless here, either.
Fuck That. Not that I wouldn't trade anyone for the right return but at this point I'd rather not have Avila get the return for probably our 2nd best asset at the moment
Al never sold high on Boyd or Fulmer, so to make it up for it he’s going to trade Skubal for Albert Pujols.
Back in high school we had a fantasy league where we had a rule that if you were late for your first pick, the rest of the league got to pick the player for you. One guy was late, and just a few days earlier a Padres player died in some kind of accident. So naturally, that was this guys pick. I’m convinced my friend ended up with more value on his fake team than whatever Al would get for us by trading Skubal.
Can we fire Henning with Avila? Literally wrote this today https://www.detroitnews.com/story/s...have-big-trade-chip-tarik-skubal/10152547002/ Henning: Al Avila can deal when he has chips; Tigers have a big one in Tarik Skubal
Lynn was actually defending the JD Martinez return the other day. Said nobody else wanted him besides Arizona. We traded his ass like two weeks before the deadline. Fuck that guy.
Passan Another name being kicked around, though the price would be exorbitant: Detroit left-hander Tarik Skubal, who is 25 and has four years of control remaining. The issue with moving Skubal: So many Tigers pitchers are injured -- Casey Mize had Tommy John surgery and Matt Manning remains out with a shoulder injury -- that any prospect of near-term contention depends upon them having at least a few decent starters. That said: Multiple general managers Wednesday said they expect Skubal to move. Now, it's possible that a team with young, controllable, top-end relief pitching sees this talent vacuum and decides to make a player available in hopes of reaping a great return. Gregory Soto in Detroit qualifies, particularly because he's headed into arbitration this winter and will get a hefty raise on account of his saves. But Michael Fulmer and Andrew Chafin are the likelier Tigers relievers to move at this juncture.
