Watching the recording of this one now, how many completely non-competitive pitches more than 1' out of the strike zone did Mize throw? Hate watching pitchers like that.
Maybe for the voters. The real difference is Verlander threw 250 IP that year and Skubal's hoping to get to 200 if he makes every start. Not posting this to correct you but to reminisce of how much of a fucking beast Verlander was from 09-13. Dude threw 270 innings in 2011 when you include postseason.
nahh the #Baltimore Orioles only wanted to give up fringe top 100 prospects for him wonder how Trevor Rogers is doing
Jackson Holliday is hitting .178 with a .568 ops too. .133 with a .404 ops his last 15 days. Again I like the orioles more than the Yanks and the others in that division, but those are things you love to see after the ridiculousness of that trade deadline
Let’s fucking go. As much I would like to have a 69-69 record, I’ll take the win today. Playoff bound baby
1 game back. Need to win 5 of 6 on this road trip. SD series will be tough with Madden, Montero, and Mize going, but I think we can sweep them.
Vinegar Strokes took a day trip to SD. Already called Mize and Tork busts during batting practice. Expect big upcoming games from them.
I don't understand pinch hitting Malloy for Carpenter. Or why we just refuse to let Carpenter even try v. LHP.
Baseball America's Hot Sheet - top 20 players of the previous week - is out, and Max Anderson makes an appearance. Our depth of bat first, bad defenders at 2B is unrivaled. Hopefully this guy ends up as a decent role/bench/utility guy long-term, even if that utility is limited to 2B/1B/LF/DH appearances. 2023 2nd rounder. 16. Max Anderson, 2B, Tigers Team: High-A West Michigan (Midwest) Age: 22 Why He’s Here: .462/.483/.692 (12-for-26) 7 R, 3 2B, 1 HR, 7 RBIs, 2 BB, 2 SO The Scoop: Anderson’s profile is as a bat-first second baseman, so coming into August, his numbers at West Michigan seemed a little modest, even if his home park is a tough one for hitters. But Anderson is finishing strong. He has nine multi-hit games since Aug. 14. Anderson’s power has been sapped by West Michigan’s park as eight of his 11 home runs have come on the road. (JC)
New BA 100 is out. 3. Jackson Jobe 21. Max Clark 23. Kevin McGonigle 73. Jace Jung 84. Bryce Rainer 90. Thayron Liranzo 95. Jaden Hamm
So we flew to SD to play without an off day to play an early game on a holiday just so we could take the next day off before resuming the series on Wednesday? I am confused.
Labor Day day games are more valuable to teams than a random Tuesday night game, so that’s why we played yesterday instead of it being a normal Monday travel day for a Tues/Wed/Thurs series. However, I don’t know why MLB would schedule a team from across the country to be the one to play that game.
I understand this. 26 of 30 teams are playing tonight and I don't understand we are not one of them when we are already in San Diego. That's kind of odd.
So we play yesterday, today, and tomorrow and have Thursday off then? I’m assuming they made today an off day because there was so much travel for both teams just to play yesterday. It was bad scheduling to be sure, but if they had to play yesterday, then today seems like a better day to have an off day than Thursday since the travel for Friday’s game isn’t that bad.
Benetti, Petry and the graphic told me don’t throw a first pitch strike to Jackson Merrill and then Montero threw him a fastball down the middle and he hit a 3 run HR. Come on, man.
Noted elite baseball man Jim Bowden has Jobe and Clark as his top two prospects. He also has Rainer at 28 and McGonigle at 38.
3.5 back if we hold on to win. Need to have following finish. Would get us to 86 wins. Twins would have to go 7-12, as they hold tiebreaker over us vs. Rockies - Win 3 of 3 vs. Baltimore - Win 2 of 3 @ KC - Win 2 of 3 @ Baltimore - Win 2 of 3 vs. Tampa - Win 2 of 3 vs. Sox - Win 3 of 3
