This makes you wonder what the best offer out there for Bregman is. If he really turned down 6 years, he’s an idiot.
More and more it seems like Boros miscalculates the market, now that he doesn’t have Mike Ilitch to bail him out.
No RH hitter with a brain would sign a short contract with the Tigers. Either get that last long contract or go someplace where the size of park won’t kill your next deal.
I would have been a whole lot happier if we signed Bregman for what he got from Boston than if he had taken what we offered. I'm more shocked that these teams now give these opt outs like hockey GMs give out no movement clauses. They're in all these deals now. If I'm guaranteeing you $120M over 3, I'm not sure why I also have to give two opt outs.
Fuck Bergman. Clearly didn’t want to play here. We probably structured the 6 year deal, same way he got from Boston.
He was only signing with the Tigers if we overpaid him for the rest of his career + 1 year. He’ll do well enough in that little league park in Boston, opt out, and sign the same deal next year.
Imagine telling your employer that in any corporate setting. Send his ass to Erie for the season for punishment.
he’s fine. He’s just going to show up every day like it’s game 7 of the World Series and everything will be fixed
Ive got to show my wife that to remind her how old we are. She babysat for Inges kids when they were real little. I think Cecil Fielder having a grandson in pro ball makes me feel older than any of these
Look at Nolan Arenado's last two seasons... compared to Matt Vierling's last two seasons... I get that Arenado's a big name and possible future HOFer and some in the media and fan base badly want them to go make a big money move, but offensively speaking he's not an upgrade over Vierling. And Vierling is entering age 28 season while Arenado is entering age 34 season.
