Reyes is real or is this a flash in a pan?
Don't know why it didnt come to me earlier, but this Tigers team was destined to make playoffs or at least be a good team given the fact I have a son coming in 2020. My family has an odd way of having kids the year the Tigers are good
I am one of three kids, older sister born in 1984, I was born in 1987 (last Tigers playoff appearance until 2006), and younger sister was born in 1993 (last .500 season until 2006). I have three nephews/nieces and they were born in 2006, 2012 and 2014.
We're winning a game by so many runs that Kyle Funkhouser is pitching in the 8th inning. What is happening right now?
Even if this is just a flash in the pan, I'm as shocked at this good stretch from him as I've been by any Tigers' player I can remember since maybe Brennan Boesch's good month or two that one year.
That Boesch time was fun
Welp broken hand for Jacoby
Reyes everyday CF, platoon RF and see if Stewart has anything offensive wise in LF
Agree. He showed flashes last year too but nothing like this. He’s probably a 4th OF but I’ll enjoy this while I can
His flashes last year were a bunch of bloopers falling for hits instead of outs. It was almost all BABIP luck. In the OF, he was running into other OFs damn near every week. He actually looks like a big leaguer right now and is getting legit extra base hits and not taking awful routes to balls on defense. Just looks like a different guy right now.
The Tigers are currently averaging more runs per game than the Twins and Yankees
That bomb he hit 0-2 count was impressive regardless whoever anybody faces at the MLB level. Let’s hope he turns out well the rest of the season. Might as well pencil him in as lead off CF remainder of the season.
Greiner is having an interesting year at the plate
Call up Hill. Play Castro in LF
Fuck it all - call up Tork
Honestly. If they are making a push at the end. Why not? I’d even say Greene too.
They said on broadcast last night Hill was battling some injuries in the camp (shocker, I know)
Bowden said the Tigers should do it. Compared it to Ryan Zimmerman’s situation.
Well he must not be too hurt
Fuck yeah. World Series 2020 MVP Derek Hill
It's one thing for fans to say it, but I don't get how someone like Bowden could say that without having any clue how Torkelson looks down in Toledo right now. It's not like he's got a stat line or can scout him right now.
He might be ready right now and we're idiots for not doing it. Or he could be really struggling down there and calling him up now would be a disaster.
What happens if he comes up? Candelario back to 3rd and Paredes to the bench? That doesn't seem productive for the long term plan. Both those guys need to play regularly
Bowden talks out his ass for a living, doesn't he?
He gets some scoops as an insider, but you are otherwise correct. He was a bad GM and I don't think he's gotten much smarter since going into media.
Correct. If we had traded Schoop they could maybe move Paredes to 2b, but they didn't so there isn't really a point.
There was a story in either the Freep or DetNews over the weekend talking with Mike Hessman (Toledo hitting coach) about a lot of the young guys and the experience they were getting against more advanced pitchers than they otherwise would have faced down there. From what he said, Greene seemed to be having a better time of it than Tork, which isn't terribly surprising considering Greene played in a bunch of Spring Training games against some better arms while Tork went from college to being off for four months before getting random ABs in camp against our lights out staff.
Awful at bat by Cabrera
Great at bat by Castro
Damn, Castro would have scored easily if that didn't hop over fence
They need to change that rule
They never will. It’s a judgment call.
I thought it was no advancement after next base from the double? W Castro was rounding third when it went over the fence and had to go back
Arms in the field look awful this inning
Willi Castro sails one over first and then Bonifacio throw home was way off the mark. Luckily they held him at third
Turnbull just gave a homer that’s still traveling
And walked his third batter of the inning
Not a good time for him to lose it
He sucks he can’t throw strikes
Should have traded his ass on Monday. Didn’t realize he turns 28 next week. He’s probably one of oldest guys on team
Great AB from Willi
Long term I think Turnbull is a solid 7th or 8th inning guy. Definitely not starter material with his command.
6 walks in 4.1 innings is brutal from Turnbull and Schreiber
The umpire being inconsistent hasn’t helped them. It’s helped us when we’ve been batting though.
8 walks in less than 6 innings is L in the making
Ump has been far from perfect, but 8 walks in 5.2 is absolutely brutal. 4 runs scored off walks and two still sitting on base
This has not been an enjoyable watch
Fat Joe comes in and has a 5 pitch walk
This is incredible. Wonder what the modern era record is for walks in a 9 inning game. I'm sure we aren't that close but this is absolutely pathetic
9 walks, hit batter and an error in 6 innings, almost averaging two runners an inning without hits
Fat Joe Blows.
This is pathetic
Average time of half innings the last few innings has to be like 2 minutes for tigers and 25 minutes for Brewers
I’m glad Fat Joe will give the L so we won’t see him much more going forward as a tiger
