I mean isn't this pen basically the same one we ended the year with? Not sure why anyone would expect anything different.
Is your bullpen going to shit on Fulmer's starts again this season? Also Kimbrel is still coming guys. You'llhave plenty of opportunities there.
Nobody did. Don't think Avila did either, in all likelihood. They just didn't have the $$ to upgrade it in FA and weren't trading prospects for guys, either. Thus, you just throw the same guys out there and hope you get lucky.
I love baseball and grew up playing and watching every tigers game I could, but baseball games do take too long. This 9 inning game is going to take about 3:45-4 hours by the time we are finally done
That game should have been shut down at 4-0 or 4-1. Goddam pen. Rondon is basically useless if he can't throw his fastball for a strike. FRod has a noodle arm but enough guile to mostly get by. That's not enough to be a closer. I can't see this pen getting much better. #reversejinx
It hopefully improves whenever they decide Jimenez is ready. I also wonder if Anibal ends up being moved to a set-up role somewhat soon if things don't improve.
Had to work all day and missed the game. Would love to see Zimmermann get back to where he was. Sounded like his stuff was back this spring, even if the results were terrible. Also, both West Michigan and Lakeland played 16 inning games the last two days. Probably not ideal for the minor leaguers.
Really looking forward to Norris today. I think he's got better stuff than Fulmer, just hasn't shown it over a whole season. If he has a year like Fulmer did last year, we will be in business.
It scares me that I'm agreeing with more of your posts of late. Norris looks ridiculous with that hair, though.
I was really surprised when the threw up his numbers from last year, sub 3 era, 45ks in like 30ish innings. I don't remember him being good last season
I'm not sure what the point of not even giving Jimenez a look this spring was, but I'm glad he's up now. Curious to see how they move pieces around. I'm curious what they think about Anibal working back-to-back days. If they think he can do it, I would much rather try him as a late inning guy than Alex Wilson.
It's the Twins, but Boyd with a great outing today. McCann with another HR, too. He really wishes there were more LHPs in MLB.
He did pretty much the same thing last April/May before getting sent down to the minors. 7/49 with 26 strikeouts. Outside of last September he's been mostly atrocious as a hitter in the majors this far.
Tigers could use Feliz coming out of the pen. Watching him pitch the 9th against the Blue Jays and he's filthy again.
Feliz threw 133 innings from 2014-16 coming off the injury. He was worth a total of 0.1 fWAR during those innings. If he's suddenly back to being this again, that says more about how stupid it is trying to predict the performance of relievers than it does Avila's ability to scout him.
