Biggest offseason move should be firing this guy. Go back to calling WNBA and NFL preseason games you piece of shit
Don't put that on the NFL preseason and WNBA. He's just awful. Broadcasting isn't easy, and baseball in particular takes an ability to talk during all the dead time and whatnot. The one thing that seems like it should be easy is calling a home run, and he seems confused about what to do every fucking time we hit one. George Blaha was awful this year calling Pistons games from a studio off site, and even he (at 80 years old or whatever he is) was 5x better than Shepard on his best day. I get legit embarrassed any time I hear a Shepard call on a national broadcast or highlight show that he represents a team I root for.
They should move Dickerson to TV. He's better at TV than radio, so it's a win-win. Shoot Shepherd to the moon.
I don't know all of the story, but I remember reading that before Mike Ilitch died he wanted Dickerson to be on TV instead of Impemba, and he pushed for Dickerson and Impemba to switch for a few random games a while ago, but Dickerson didn't want to leave the radio booth. I'm not sure if part of that was he just didn't want to take someone else's job, but I would bet pretty good money he would be the TV pbp guy now if he wanted it when they dumped Mario and Rod.
I think people complained more about Rod being an idiot than Mario. Mario was pretty much the definition of "cookie cutter" as a pbp guy, which is fine (as we know now).
I remember they flipped Mario and Dan for a weekend and I really liked Mario on the radio and Dan was better on TV.
I am pumped Jobe didn’t get much less than slot because it’s been a while since we had some fire out of Vinegar Strokes. Let’s see if he’s still got the heater.
You guys will be disappointed. Not gonna flip out over this. Avila and Chadd have been saying Jobe is the greatest thing since slice bread for past two weeks. We really had no room to negotiate.
He's a little younger than most college guys (turned 21 at the end of May) and made a huge jump last year. Hypothetically, he could go back to school and jump into the top 40 or so picks with a big season. We didn't take him in the 3rd round without knowing what it would take to sign him, though. All of these announcements coming out where likely known by the team and players the day of the draft.
Good to see, all the Erie guys have hit slumps lately. Wonder if it's the fact this is the longest they've played especially after covid shortened year last year
No, only Quintana is (who ironically enough is having his best month with a .279/.392/.541 line in July)
Bleacher Report post draft top 100 prospects. Not the best list but first one I've seen so far. Jobe #70 Manning #28 Greene #9 Torkelson #5 Madden in the next 50, Dingler isn't. Meyer and Lawler are 21 & 22 https://syndication.bleacherreport....p-100-mlb-prospects-after-2021-draft.amp.html
Almost seems like they planned the draft and allotment strategy competently. Although I suppose it can be argued that they should have been able to drive a harder bargain with Jobe to loosen the purse.
How come Shep never travels to away games. Hopefully that means they’re going to fire him, and Bally sports doesn’t want to waste money with him traveling.
Some guy on the Twins just hit a homer, and Shepard had no idea it was gone until it landed in the 3rd deck.
