Gibby is obsessed with SB. Just yells GO every ab with a runner on and makes comments like "a walk here would be great so we could do a double steal"
I'm not so sure, I'd hope. I mean we have Rony or Norris I could see them doing a BP game starting with them.
If they don’t call up Mize this year, it’s just proof that Avila is a prospect rankings whore, and only cares about where MLB Pipeline ranks his players, so he can show to Ilitch how great a job he’s doing,
Most prospect sites still count people as prospects until they're no longer rookie eligible. That's anything less than around 35-40 days in the big leagues, which is why I'm expecting some of the kids to start showing up around the last week in August/first week in September.
I realize the Pirates are terrible and there's a ways to go before he proves anything, but I'm here for Candelario showing a pulse of late after looking atrocious to start the season.
He threw 10 pitches last night, and having him come in with a zero gave the offense another shot to extend the lead for the shittier pen guys like Funkhouser.
Also, I appreciate the optimism, but we're still one of the worst teams in the league and Soto is very likely to have a lot of days where he sits in the pen with zero thought of coming in over the next 8 weeks
he wrote a 2 paragraph article on Jamie Samuelsen and that’s been it. I was going to suggest he opted out of the season like a pussy, but he was at all the workouts leading up to the season. Who knows. My guess he’s on probation for whatever reason. he also made his Instagram private and deleted a bunch of stuff on Twitter
Norris with an awesome play at first. I thought CJ was gonna get carted off it looked like he died for a minute
Doubt they will, I mean hell they won't even call up Mize. Most likely they play Candelario at 1b and Lugo at 3b, although I'd hope they call up Paredes and give him a look at 3b. But watch them call up Dixon or something
Assuming Lugo starts at either 3B or 1B opposite Candelario, and Castro takes Lugo's spot as utility IF. Hope Paredes is healthy and they bring him up after Lugo goes 0-12 the rest of the week.
I just texted my college roommate who is a Sox fan before the game started it's stupid to take him out of the pen when you have Mize ready to start. It's baffling how they refuse to bring up Mize
Avila controls whether Mize is up or not. Since he's the one telling Gardenhire he can't have Mize, who would you like to see start over Alexander? Norris? Garcia? Burrows? Out of those options, Alexander seems as good as any at this point considering Norris apparently can't go more than 2-3 innings coming off COVID.
good point. None of them are great options. Can’t believe he hasn’t called him up yet. Getting pretty frustrating. Norris and Alexander could be good bullpen pieces too.
Worse news is Alexander is just priming these hitters for when they see the exact same stuff from Boyd tomorrow.
JaCoby sitting today and both Castro's, Greiner and Stewart playing. Boyd is on the mound. Should be a fun day.... How many HR we think this WS team going to get off Boyd?
Also sitting Reyes and Romine. So pretty much their top 3 hitters so far this season. O/U on runs scored today should be 1.5
Cron is going to need surgery. Sound like its one of those does he do it now or can he play through the pain and have the surgery in the off season situations
Would also add a "even if he can play through the pain, is he really going to put off surgery and potentially hurt his chances to start 2021 on time by playing 6 more weeks for a shitty Tigers' team?" to your list of situations. My guess is we've probably seen the last of him, which is unfortunate because he seems like a good dude and was off to an interesting start. Hoping we see Paredes soon. Not going to trick myself into thinking Torkelson is even a consideration.
This team won't even call up Mize, there is a less than zero chance chance we see Tork this year. I'm doubting they'd even call up Paredes.
This is the third time in the last six days that Gardenhire has left his starter in a major jam in the 5th inning, presumably because he's old and thinks pitcher wins are important. Not a fan.
