Happy Wednesday boys. First home playoff game in 10 years. Time to strap up, get through pitching chaos, come out with the victory. Fuck Cleveland
I feel like they should just give out orange towels or t-shirts or something if they want a bunch of orange. Hardly anyone is gonna have orange jerseys and a lot of fans usually wear a Tigers jersey to the game.
However, if they wanted to just do an orange alternate for the City Connect next year instead of the garbage they had this year, I'd take it. Base it off this:
Are we banking on shadows helping us? That was disappointing. Cleveland has some pretty big L/R splits so I wonder if he's just afraid of throwing Hurter and only wants to use Holton in specific match ups.
Surprised Montero was really just in the opener role and they didn't give him a chance to steal any more innings.
I would have conceded the out here to have Carpenter come up in 7th or 8th, but whatever. Would be different if we had runners in scoring position.
I know it seems lame to complain about anything Hinch does since we are in such a better spot that we ever expected this year, but I really hate that our opponents can literally take our best offensive player out of the game by just pitching a lefty when he is up to bat. Trevor Plouffe said something similar to us on one of the Jomboy Media podcasts I listened to the other day "he only has like 40 ABs [editor's note: this year he has 28 ABs] against lefties, how do we even know he can't hit lefties?"
Carpenter's BABIP vs LHP this year is .118 I'm sure some of that is he generates weaker contact and lower EV, but his career BABIP vs LHP is .241 so there's definitely some bad luck mixed in there, too, making his numbers look even worse vs LHP.
I heard a couple other former players on various networks say the same. At least Malloy is having some good ABs and results, but I can't stand dumping Carpenter's bat in the 5th inning. Especially against this pen.
Anyone else just notice that guy in orange hoodie in that tunnel behind plate? Don’t think he was supposed to be there.
Hanifee and Olson for sure, probably Foley at some point and I think it may be Jobe again. Depending on situation, Holton and Guenther should probably be available after throwing low pitches.
You guys are whiny about Carpenter. I would think everyone but Hurter and possibly Briske (??) available for tomorrow.
Good morning boys. Happy Thursday. Time to strap up and get through one more day of bullpen chaos, and save Mr. Skubal for game 1 on Tuesday. Fuck Cleveland
