Any chance that Castellanos can play a passable first base and would you guys take a very minimal return. I am desperate for a right handed bat and with my first choice Encarnacion off the board I can't think of any rentals better than your guy.

 

Same reason the Giants dumped him from their 40 man after picking him up. He's not very good.

 

He was called up and batted .040 in 15 ABs then sent down. He’s batting .330 in AAA so yeah he’s prob a AAA player not even AAAA

 

He also plays in a ridiculously hitter-friendly league and has a .417 BABIP. I like the guy and think he could be a 4th OF potentially, but I don't think there's a whole lot there.

 

He's probably a AAAA type, but the Tigers could have definitely found an excuse to keep him over any number of shitty relief pitchers.

Boyd giving up a bunch of dingers again isn't good for us, whether you want to tank or not. He needs a couple good starts again to show he's not falling back to what he was before this year if we want to get enough to make a meaningful trade with him.

Think up until ~05 it alternated between AL and NL getting #1 pick

 

Boyd could have a 1.00 ERA with 15 K/9 and you wouldn't want your team to trade for him because you never want your team to trade for anyone
