The fact that Avila even got the job in the first place was laughable. To no one's surprise he's way in over his head, and the Illitches have shown zero interest in transforming the Tigers into a modern, successful organization. They are more worried about loyalty and being part of the "family."
I’m sure Little Caesars caters pizza to the Tigers organization. Can you imagine Avila crushing a couple of deep dishes? My god that’d be a sight to see.
Look on the bright side. At least we will have the #1 pick in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and maybe 2024. LFG
We're going to end up keeping Castellanos, giving him the QO, and then going through all this again next year.
I think he means Austin Jackson, the ghost of Andrew Jackson and a $100 gift card to Jack in the Box.
On face value Castellanos pulled a better return. Richan was 2nd rounder in 2018 and Lange was 1st rounder in 2017. Unreal.
The Astros must not think much of Boyd if they were willing to give up that package for Greinke and his salary through 2021, but we couldn't figure something out with them to include Tucker.
Avila is awful and some of the stuff he asks for in trades is embarrassing. That said, today isn't his fault. Just like Mike Moustakas can't take a time machine back to 2007 so he can get overpaid in FA, Avila can't take one back to that time so people can overpay for everyone in trades. The market just sucks for sellers, which is why the majority of the big ticket items didn't sell. The Yankees, with all their resources, decided to go into the playoffs without a starting pitcher with a < 4 ERA rather than give up anything for an upgrade to try to win a WS. That's just the way MLB is now.
Hello friends. I think Wentz is a worthwhile get just as a player. Think there's an MLB starter of some sort in there, if he can stay healthy with his shoulder and stabilize his fastball velo. Both off-speed pitches are good and flash better on certain nights.
