4-0 > 4-1, especially when you were heavily favored to win the 1 you lost The rules today drastically favor offenses, especially those who are in shotgun 95% of the time Owing to those rule changes, how the fuck do you lose a SB with Randy Moss and Wes Welker? Tom Brady has never had a signature SB moment, whereas Joe has 55-10, 5 TD passes, a game-winning 94 yard TD drive, 38-16 in another SB without Jerry Rice, John Taylor, Brent Jones, etc. Joe Montana has The Catch, Brady has The Tuck Rule Joe Montana is 10 times the athlete that Brady is as a QB. Brady has a better arm but is a statue. Brady would have suffered many more injuries in Montana's league. Brady has one serious injury, and the NFL literally revamps its rules to protect the QB again. Montana in SBs: 11 TD, 0 INT, 127.8 QB rating, 4-0 Montana led the Chiefs to the AFC Championship game at age 37 No way this shit is even a discussion now. 3-2, including a monumental choke, doesn't deserve being mentioned with the GOAT.
Will be unable to check TMB regularly today. I'm supposed to be acting as the Niners GM in the fantasy draft. Would the TMB Niner contingent draft for me if I can't make it? Draft with a consensus itt? Obviously thinking WR with the first pick, though OLB could be a need with Brooks possibly leaving. CB and RG worth looks.
Anyone ITT want to take over as the 49ers' rep in the mock draft? All the WRs worth taking at #30 (not a Sanu fan) were gone so I took Janoris Jenkins, CB. mc415 NorCalBear 49ers169 ksim14 Saul Shabazz dvnasty dcon79 TAS OTMWESTCOASTNOLE etc.,
BFFs The best thing about being Jim Harbaugh is that you never have to wonder what you're going to wear that day.
Our coach and savior recently sat in as ballboy for the Indiana Hoosiers. He was virtually unrecognizable without his hat...
Rumors that it's 6 years for 44.5 million, but only 17.5 million guaranteed. 17.5 million over 3 years isn't that bad. It's likely he doesn't see the last two years of his contract. May be the end for Parys Haralson. Would rather they dump Haralson and keep Brooks anyway.
I still think we need one more go to reciever. Thing is, this class looks to have some good options. I would love to see them grab Adams from Arkansas or Jarius Wright. Wright is perfect for the slot.
take a shot at Stephen Hill if hes there late in the 1st? Pretty sure Josh Morgan will resign with us
If the 49ers draft a WR #30, he has to have legit #1 potential. You have to believe/hope that Stephen Hill develops his running routes and hands, because his 6'4, 4.30 40 is extremely rare. Was really hoping Joe Adams and Rueben Randle would run faster 40 times, particularly Randle b/c of his size. I'm going to give Balkee/Harbaugh a pass again, whatever happens this draft.
Would still like him, but would hope he runs a better 40 at his pro day. I'm now wondering if he doesn't know how to run a 40 or big 12 db's are just slow as fuck.
He's a player. I guess my major concern would be, is he really a great individual talent? Or did the scheme make him look a lot better? The way baylor was able to threaten the entire field really opened up things for him, but he was a major reason why they were able to threaten the entire field. Chicken and egg
The only WR I would really like to see us draft in the first round is Blackmon. And that ain't happening. Edit: especially with the slew of great receivers potentially going into free agency.
It would be nice, but if the Redskins don't get the 2nd pick from the Rams to draft RG3 they are going to throw a ridiculous amount of money at Peyton Manning.
Niners doing work in the offseason. Already got some special teamers resigned, brought back Brooks for a very manageable number (only 2.85 mil against this year's cap), and now franchised Goldson. Interesting to see what happens with Carlos Rogers next, but the Niners have the money if they want to go that route and bring back the entire defense. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYCDD916TfU
I am afraid Goldson gets pissed about this but we will see. So far so good, especially with Brook's cap number this year.
The problem with that is they aren't getting to free agency. Unless we want to spend a 1 on Mike Wallace the rest are franchised.
Damn, now Bowe, Wallace, D. Jackson get franchised. Stevie Johnson gets a new contract. Looks like it's Vincent Jackson or Colston or bust as far as big FA WRs. FootballOutsiders thinks we land Colston now that Brees has been tagged. Marques Colston: San Francisco 49ers The 49ers' biggest hole was blatantly obvious when their wide receivers combined for just one catch in the NFC championship game. So what do you get a coach who needs a first-rate pass-catcher for his Bill Walsh-influenced offense? How about a first-rate route-running technician who has at least 1,000 yards and eight touchdowns in five of his six NFL seasons? The only problem with signing Colston would be that the 49ers' top two receivers (Colston and Michael Crabtree) would be shorter-route possession guys, but that actually fits Alex Smith's strengths. They can always stretch the field with Vernon Davis and Kyle Williams in the slot.
the fact that kyle williams name is uttered in this paragraph makes me rage. fuck that faggot having said that, my boner would have a boner if Marques Colston became a niner
Forget Colston. Trade Crabtree + our first and try to get Floyd. If no trade, then wait for whoever is better between McNutt/Dwight Jones. Draft Devon Wylie or one of the ARK receivers in the 3rd-4th round. Profit.
Please trade crabtree so i can leave this thread. That being said, this is his year. Get ready for a game-changer
Wallace wasn't franchised, he was tendered. I think that gives Pittsburgh the right to match and if they don't they get a first for him.
You're right. I'm going to be honest and say there's a strong argument to be made for giving up a first for him if you're SF. A known commodity that fills a desperate need vs. a first rounder. I guess you have to consider the contract he'd want, though. Probably won't happen, obviously.
will never have the speed to be a game changer and is too much of bitch to be the "man"......i hope he finally decides to participate in training camp for once in his career
Super Bowl baby!!! NEXT VIDEO Moss To Work Out For 49ers The San Francisco 49ers and receiver Randy Moss have agreed to terms on a one-year deal, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Moss worked out for the 49ers on Monday, with coach Jim Harbaugh throwing him passes. NFL Rumor Central ESPN Insider can help you keep up with the latest twists and turns of NFL free agency. Check back often for the latest buzz. Rumor Central Harbaugh stood in because a current 49ers quarterback can't throw in a workout for the team until the league year begins Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET. "Jim Harbaugh makes #49ers veteran emergency board: Best coach's workout in NFL history (especially while wearing khakis & a sweatshirt)," 49ers CEO Jed York tweeted Monday. Moss announced on his 35th birthday that he was ending his one-year retirement from the NFL. Moss, who worked out last Tuesday with the New Orleans Saints, played for New England, Minnesota and Tennessee in a rocky 2010 season. He could help fill a big void after 49ers receivers managed just one catch for three yards in a 20-17 overtime loss in the NFC Championship Game to the eventual Super Bowl champion New York Giants. Moss' workout with the Saints was said to be impressive, according to reports. The Saints didn't publicize details of the session. San Francisco cut ties with Braylon Edwards in December and already was without Joshua Morgan, who broke a bone in his lower leg Oct. 9 against Tampa Bay, had surgery to have screws inserted and was placed on season-ending injured reserve. Morgan is expected to generate his share of interest in free agency. NFC West Blog ESPN.com's Mike Sando writes about all things NFC West in his division blog. • Network: NFL Nation Michael Crabtree, San Francisco's 10th overall pick in the 2009 draft, had 72 receptions for 874 yards and four touchdowns. York said earlier Monday that the 49ers need "someone to stretch the field." The Niners CEO also said the 49ers are working to re-sign the man who could be throwing to Moss next season, quarterback Alex Smith. York said the side have had "good conversations back and forth." Moss' 153 touchdown receptions are tied with Terrell Owens for second on the career list. He's fifth all-time in yards and ninth in receptions. His 29 touchdowns of at least 50 yards are behind only Jerry Rice (36). He led the NFL in touchdown receptions five times, was selected to the Pro Bowl six times and was named first team All-Pro four times. His 23 TDs in 2007 led the entire NFL and his 138 points scored that season were second only to kicker Mason Crosby. Information from The Associated Press contributed to this report.
Worst case - he doesn't contribute and he's gone in a year. Best case - he becomes a go to target pretty good pickup
