TC get the udisc app. It'll point you to the right tee. And you can keep score and stats. It's the dopest.
If you move here for real, obviously I want an invite to the lake. It's great to have a friend with a boat. Then you can play with my $10 disc if you come downtown
I've got friends that swear by it. I've almost pulled the trigger on it, but $15 seems like a lot. I know they've got a free version, but you can't store as many scores. I would have gotten it a couple weeks ago but then I read reviews of people complaining about the price hike and bailed.
I like Lake Murray a lot. Best friend lives in Lex and has a boat, plus it’s only about 5 hours from here. Looking at other lakes in North Georgia but Murray is a shorter drive.
1. Get Muschamp's old house 2. Make a print of your avatar 3. Frame it on the wall 4. ????? 5. Profit
How many people had impromptu courses on their college campus? I've almost got hit with discs plenty of times. Any colleges have permanent disc golf courses amidst their buildings?
I've never see a permanent one on a college campus. I played a 9 hole at an elementary school, but it kinda sucked because it was geared toward kids. Had short rubber tee pads that fucked with me while driving because I take several steps to wind up. Which isn't necessarily the way to do it, but it's how I learned and I dont care that much to change my form.
I've had it for a few years and it was free at that time. I do pay something like 15/year for it's Premium version. But afaic it's totally worth it to have all my scores and it's a really feature-rich app. Has loads of shit I don't even do with it really.
Very popular with colleges. I've helped design and install a couple. Liberty has 2 courses. University of Lynchburg and Randolph both have 9 hole loops.
https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/50022 Looks like UGA is the current national champion. Haha what a bizarro sport
Spotting the baskets can definitely be an issue the first time playing a course, especially if you're dealing with trees.
I was a stereotypical stoner hippie teenager that thought Dazed and Confused was the recipe for life Also never had any problems with baskets
Spent way more time than I should have discing and getting high on that course in the early 2000's. They've now built dorms and other buildings over most of the original holes, but just checked and I guess they've relocated part of the course to maintain a full 18 holes.
Katrina Allen is live on Twin Cities sports radio interviewing right now. She's from Pipestone MN originally.
Somebody emailed the host (who doesn't know bubkus about DG) and mentioned the controversy about Page Pierce missing the triple mando? Anybody see that one? Katrina states she thought that Pierce missed the mando, but Pierce said, "I'd give you all the benefit of the doubt if it were me," and so Allen didn't contest it. Hadn't heard about that.
I've not watched rd 4 of either FPO or MPO yet. Apparently if was impossible to tell live, but evident on replay. I figure karma got Paige back just fine.
Stolen from my own thread without even being tagged in the new one… sad times. Stoked for James, impressive to take that win from Paul.
Mostly it’s the size and shape of the rim. A putter will be a much more rounded rim and they steadily get sharper the higher the speed of disc
My kids and I play a wooded course in a blackwater park (swamp) near me. We only play in the fall and winter because of ticks though.
I love playing in the fall. Summer is awful. The cicadas just subsided here a couple of weeks ago and we had a heat swell. Didn’t play for a couple weeks and just played my first round in 3 weeks after recovering from the worst poison oak rash I’ve ever had.
You live close as hell to me then, looks like that's the closest hole to me as well. One day you're gonna see my Papa Jazz hat in the hood
I've been trying to effect our acquaintance at a local music show for a couple years but hasn't happened yet. I know a good bit of SC TMB IRL but I can understand if larry is a bit demure
Mid-90s and humid last weekend. Got 18 holes in on the fourth, lost to my buddy by two. So we're even on rounds on the year but he's up seven strokes on me. I did have my most successful roller ever though.
I only know one other TMB-ster IRL. He moved like 1.5 blocks from my house and posted in the Husk thread he was having a garage sale. Now our families get together all the time. He doesn't like disc golf, but I've seen him try.
That's awesome. He, Anthony Zimmern, the big Finnish dude from GoT, and Teddy Bruschi are the biggest DG-supporting 'celebs' that I know of
So crisp! Man I wish I could spin putt. Course was better this year. And I like the 16-17-18 combo. I haven’t had a chance to get up to the Preserve yet this summer. It’s funny how much harder those par 4s are than they make it look. And I think I managed to double 18 when I played it. Kinda sucked how the severe drought and smoke made the first two rounds really ugly to watch. We’ve had but little rain this year. At least the sun was out the third round. But I’m excited to watch the Preserve evolve. Cale’s a daggum dg legend around here.
Funshot Residue Can we get an update on James and how things have gone for him since he gained all the publicity with that shot? Did he get more sponsors?
Wake has a partial course that’s poorly maintained and a couple holes were removed for new construction. I played it once or twice, but didn’t have a ton of free time in grad school and preferred one of the public parks course. Not technically on-campus, but Gustavus Adolphus has a course a few blocks from the school on the grounds of the Minnesota Security Hospital (criminally insane facility) that’s really fun and pretty. Kind of freaky throwing while the patients watch you from the inside of the yard fence tho.
I've only spoken to him via text as the tour continues to move (generally eastward the last couple of weeks). While I couldn't speak to additional sponsors, I don't doubt it has happened or is in the works. His main sponsor, MVP Discs, is reportedly running (injection molding and stamping) an enormous supply of copies of the disc he used for "the shot". Presumably, James stands to make $ off each one sold, which is a fairly typical arrangement. Like a royalty. If the current marker is any indicator, they'll sell out in minutes. That will be a nice chunk of change for him. He has also been featured pretty heavily on some videos lately, which isn't a huge amount of money, but the exposure certainly leads to more markets for accessory purchases.
Never knew this thread existed. Randomly searched disc golf to see if anyone talks about it and here I am. Just picked up a couple Nomads from the shop. Still have my commemorative Envy and 3 other Nomads coming in a few weeks.
