There's been numerous cases of people's smart TVs monitoring their users and reporting that information back to HQ.

One of my TVs (can't remember if it is the Samsung or Panasonic) would load ad banners.

 

I'm on a family plan with my parents on it. They don't pay for my phone or cell bill. I know you're from Ohio so reading comprehension is tough.

I kind of just assume any "smart" appliance or other device I use connected to the internet is going to be mining and selling my data. If the TV apps are doing it, I would expect the rokus/firesticks/chromecasts/etc to be doing the same thing.

Honestly if you're not on a multi-line plan you're overpaying. My wife and I paid for our two lines from Verizon with limited data and were able to save $25/mo and get unlimited data by adding sibling + parents to the plan.

They reimburse me each month for it, but it's really a no brainer.
