Watching for a second time this morning. I really like it. (My eight year old has also watched one of the three descendants movies every day for a week.)
I have a pet peeve and maybe it’s user error, but whenever I pick a movie if we had watched some of it and not finished it always starts where we left off. and it’s not giving resume/restart options. just play. so i’m stuck resuming then when i back out I have the option to restart. minor thing but when you’re watching 5-6 movies a day it gets annoying.
Any word on latest Star Wars movie? Would love for it to come to Disney+ during this quarantine since I missed it in the theaters.
We are the same. Enjoyed it fine, likely won't rewatch anytime soon. Though I should say: a) my father is still alive so I'm sure it'll take on much more impact when he is no longer around and b) it did make me call my dad to catch up this morning.
It's amusing to see this reaction from the seemingly different side of the coin Star Wars fan. When the opposite side was saying the same thing after TLJ. Man, it's Star Wars. I'll watch whatever and enjoy it.
Onward was perfectly fine. Very long way from top tier Pixar. IMO the Chris Pratt casting was a giant misfire, I could feel Barley winking at me with every line.
What was the last Pixar movie that had less hype than Onward? I remember that even “The Good Dinosaur” had more hype than Onward imo.
Inside Out was great! But damn...you’re right it didn’t have much hype. I read at the time it was released they had to re-write the entire film after consulting a bunch of child psychologists who told them they had gotten it wrong the first time. Wild.
It fucked me up. There were some really specific plot points that seemed personal. Turns out it's the director/writer's life story turned into a movie (dead father, older brother, tape etc.).
Same. And damn. I’ll concede that it may not have been the most ambitious Pixar project but for me it was as emotionally affecting as any of them
it wasn’t a lack of hype for onward i went on the day it was released and the theater was pretty full just really shitty timing
I have not really given the story here. I was an alcoholic, high functioning, no one knew how bad kind of thing. I developed an unrelated infection in my prostate and my body went septic one day, I fell out. Went the the emergency room, got to the point of being stable and all of a sudden my body went back into freefall, I was going through DT's. Weeks later after learning how to walk again, relearning some speech patterns, etc. I was released directly into a 2 week inpatient rehab. A lot more was involved, most of it stuff I am learning about, but that's the base story on how I ended up in rehab with a bunch of meth addicts, etc. Inside Out is used a lot in those settings I came to learn.
i give inside out the nod for being much smarter don’t get me wrong i think they nailed coco both plot-wise and visually i just think inside out was harder to get right and they nailed it
Inside Out, WALL-E, and Coco are their three movies where i just couldn't even believe what i was watching. Incredible works of art
Toy story, Wall-e, inside out in my top tier Coco, Ratatouille, Up just below Nemos, Onward, Monsters third But all those I consider must watch anyway so mostly picking nits
Onward taps into feelings most movies don't focus on. It's not a romance story or a father/son story. It's about brothers but not as obvious at first the way Frozen is about sisters. I loved it
Yes and even better so is Wicked Tuna and Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks. Thanks national geographic for adding some stuff
We're up to 6 hours a day of Wild Kratts on Amazon Prime. The theme song will haunt my dreams forever
Exactly. This pandemic is the best thing to happen to Disney+ and the worst thing to happen to Disney Parks and feature film releases. And yet, they'll come out of this with people ready to go back to theaters and parks (whenever) and still subscribed to Disney+.
Finished the Aladdin remake, thought it was just fine will smith was better than I expected while the production and costume design really popped, and Naomi Scott is hot but other than that, not much stood out
