The universe is not prepared for the full force of Disney + the Beyhive
John Kani is amazing and he was incredible in the ghost and the darkness
John Oliver is the human form of Zazu
Him as a bird that’s perpetually stressed out and hysterical is perfect
I like to pretend lion king takes place in Wakanda and ties the whole marvel disney universe together
They added a white character that wasn't in the original, Jasmin isn't middle eastern/arab, and they brownfaced white extras to make them look the part
Patton Oswalt already did that.
do we know the context? Jasmin was being courted by princes in the original, how do we know it's not some dude from a vanilla face land?
she's half Indian
Not great, Bob. They filmed in England, so one would think there would be plenty of Indian/Arab people available. A vanity fair article from a year ago said the makeup was for crew members and not actors.
Do you think Arabs and Indians are interchangeable?
Look at the cast for Scarface.
Hey guys can we not clutter this great thread about the best kids Disney movie ever with sub par movie talk like Aladdin. Thanks
Now where can I get that poster? I need it on canvas tbqh
There’s one Hispanic person in the entire movie.
Hopefully we can appreciate the progress we've made in 35 years when it comes to colorism and whitewashing
Billy Eichner may be the most spot on of all
This is amazing
My comment is based on me seeming to remember an article In read where Disney was looking for someone from either background for the leading roles. I think the other finalist to play Jasmine was Tara Sutaria
This is going to be so good.
Was it dblplay1212 or moxin24 who said they didn't watch the Lion king as a child because they were mature for their age and couldn't be bothered with with cartoons?
Nevermind found it first page
Wasnt me but I was 16 when it came out. I'm not opposed to watching it, just never have.
Do yourself a favor and watch it with the kid when she is a bit older. You'll both love it. The original I mean, this one will be good too.
That's the plan. There's a lot of Disney movies that I've never seen bc they came out after I was a kid. Wife is a big fan of anything Disney so we'll definitely be watching them.
I can't wait to do this with mine.
Nice brag about having sex Bruce
I buy the old Disney stuff for my kid when they come out. If you get the bluray it comes with a movies anywhere code that app is clutch when I want to watch football or something and she wants to watch Sleeping Beauty.
During the 9 months my wife was pregnant, I downloaded at least 30 old Disney movies. Lots of originals from the 50s. Of course shortly after I got through the list my wife gave me I saw where Disney is starting their own streaming service that will have all of their content on it.
What a wretched existence
Yeah, I've been collecting. I still have an old man connection to physical media so I like to buy tangible discs, the app is just a major bonus.
Moxin was also a cunt in the Aladdin remake thread
god what a fucking miserable person that guy was
i'm sure he still is, but i thought he quit posting here. hence the "was"
He could also be dead so was is applicable
Fair enough I didn't know he left
Pretty sure he left because some old posts were bumped on the UM board with him using the N word so he bailed.
It was like pages and pages of posts. Quentin Tarantino would have told him to settle down.
Right. He's a piece of shit. But he could also be dead
I remember when this came out, the movie had its own candy bar. And it was really really good. Gold wrapper.
Us, and everyone who's ever known him, could only be so lucky
That trailer looks unreal. But how the fuck do they expect me to watch Mufasa die in HD?
In a saline mixture of tears and popcorn butter.
And you’ll love it.
They just filmed a live action Lady and the Tramp in savannah.
I have a feeling they’re going to milk this concept for all it’s worth.
And after you see the original go and see the Broadway Musical whenever you get the chance dblplay1212
No shit. It is incredible. I've seen a ton of Broadway stuff and that still is likely the best ever.
Imagine current year 3-8 year old kids watching it
