92/100 on PC Gamer. They say it's one of the best RPGs ever made, on par with Witcher 3 (although very different). Haven't played yet but just instantly went on my wish list. http://www.pcgamer.com/divinity-original-sin-2-review/
i just installed it yesterday. running it on an XBox One controller out of my PC and it plays well that way, so far. game was designed for controller play because of the co-op. combat reminds me of XCom. i love that it's 100% voice acted. every line. one of my big gripes with Pillars Of Eternity was that only the key scenes were voice acted. i picked one of the pre-set 'origin' characters to get the full storylines, but im debating going back and just doing a custom character.
I feel like the game is designed for a custom main character and 3 companions. gives an easy two playthroughs min.
But if your main character is an origin character they're kind of silenced and you don't really know what their characer is supposed to be
I p sure you're playing it so I'll defer to you since I don't get into TB, but from what I've seen, the main 4 characters storylines weave into each other and you lose a significant chunk of story by creating your own. I've also seen it emphasized from a gameplay experience it is better to create your own.
In my brief time playing, the 'origin' dialogue options specific to that character are available to you as the player. I think I'm going to re-start, keep the origin character I chose (Ifan), and just re-class to what I want.
logged some more hours last night. already addicted. this game is so deep, and the writing/voice acting is so good. haven't felt this way about an RPG since Witcher 3. i picked Ifan as my character, went with knight class. have Sebille (rogue), Fane (cleric), and Lohse (wizard) in my party. the fact that i am missing out on the other origin characters (Beast, Red Prince) lends itself really well to replayability.
while i'm waiting on a mobo repair i've been playing on a laptop with no gpu. very low, 720p, capped at 15 fps, still runs slow. it's hilarious. pretty awful experience, think i'm just gonna grab a serviceable mobo rather than wait. picked the red prince but regret the decision. not sure who i want to go with. def want the prince in my party but not as my dude.
i waffled between him and Fane. went with Fane bc he's an undead from a race that isn't even around in the game world anymore, and i thought that was super interesting. i also read that the guy who wrote the talking skull in Planescape: Torment (won all sorts of awards) wrote all of Fane's dialogue, so probably going to be good.
think my first playthrough party will probably be Lohse, Prince, Fane, and Sebille although I like Beast a good bit
Have dropped around 20hrs on this game. Absolutely awesome experience. However, I had to drop the difficulty to easy on my first play through. The combat is super difficult, IMO. Main guy is a necromancer type and I'm rolling with Isben, Fane, and Lohse. Plan on picking up the other characters my next play through, then making my own character and rolling through with my favorites the 3rd time around.
I still haven't left Fort Joy yet and this game has drawn me in. I'm only logging a few hours at a time, but it's so well done. Like reading a great fantasy novel series, but with awesome graphic design and combat.
