I lasted 9 months in the logistics Industry. Fuck that shit. Been at my new gig for almost 3 months. I enjoy what I do but I'd be down to make a bit more.

it'll be better once we actually start classes next week, but getting everything off the ground and all the back and forth with families, transportation services, other programs, special ed, reading and math coordinators, etc. etc. has made this first week of summer a total hellscape of annoyance

65 hours of admin pay will make a pretty sweet paycheck though

I’ve never enjoyed any aspect of actual work, maybe the satisfaction of seeing a project completed, but that’s it :idk:

I enjoy aspects of my career, being my own boss, the free time, lifestyle, but even the few hours a week I spend actually working are an annoyance.

I enjoy about 87% of my job...obviously there are certain aspects I'm not a fan of but such is life. Considering some of the shit jobs I've had before, I've got a pretty sweet gig. A good hunk of my job satisfaction/enjoyment is tied to my co-workers. Over the 16+ years I've been at my hospital many co-workers have come and gone and there are stretches where our department is less enjoyable because there weren't a whole lot of fun people to work with. Currently we have a great crew and the shenanigans are flowing

I used to work 9 hour days with every other Monday off. Liked it, but now do 4x10s with 3 day weekends and it’s amazing. If a holiday lands on a Monday, which many do it seems like, we get the Friday before off. 10 hour days feel long, but my wife works 12-13 hour days as a nurse so it’s not too bad compared to her.

Hate the corporate rat race and expected fealty to large corporations/firms.

I love what I do but abhor the corporate aspect of it. I guess that’s the catch-22 when it comes to these sorts of things. If I was just left alone to manage my projects and do my surveys, reports, etc. it would be great. I worked for a smaller firm that got absorbed by a conglomerate and it’s been nothing but trying to push you up the corporate ladder as quickly as possible ever since. Fuck that. Why shouldn’t I be able to do field work the rest of my life if that’s what I want?

I knew after the first month or so that logistics just wasn’t for me. Hated it. It’s the one job I had where I truly hated the actual day to day job function. Some people thrive in it but it just wasn’t a good fit for me.

Enjoy: flexible schedule, working from home, not as stressful as past jobs.

Don’t enjoy: the actual work itself is tedious and not exciting. lack of social interaction in the office is also tough; hard to develop work relationships via chat/zoom calls.

Making popsicles and lattes for 8 years is a bit of an up and down thing. Most of the time I love what I do but the grind of the never ending bills and bullshit from landlords sucks. Opening a new store in a new state got me re-invigorated though and the new bar and oat milk company launching this year have me working on bigger picture stuff which I love.

Looking back if I would have had that job right out of college it would have been way better. All the people I worked with who did that loved it. My biggest complaint was the “emergency” for every single load. Like it was someone having a heart attack that a load of chips might be a couple of hours late. It’s not like it’s a hospital.

    Voted yes.

I’m in public accounting. I enjoy the problem solving and critical thinking aspects of my job. I also enjoy gaining access to a variety to different companies and learning their business. My job gave me a path to live in HK and travel Asia for 3 years.

That said, I work too much and need to get my stress down. Seen too many lifers deal with heart issues, strokes, etc. later in life.

I guess it was because I didn’t know better beforehand, but it has significantly improved my mental well being. I don’t get nearly as stressed, and if/when I do, I can go chill on the couch with my cats, watch the bird feeders, go for a walk or run, that sort of thing. I also don’t mind working later because I’m already home and I don’t have to navigate Atlanta traffic hell for hours each day.

I voted yes even though there are times I don't like it. I think the good outweighs the bad.

On the plus I have more time completely off work than even a teacher. I see cool shit. Diving is fun.

Negatives are it's tough on my body, we work in shit conditions sometimes, and when I'm working I regularly go 3-4 weeks without seeing my family.

The time not seeing my wife at all is rough but it makes up for itself when I'm just home chilling for 6+ months a year.

Love the money, hate the stress and expectations. Boss changed about 15 months ago (good timing guys!), and while I respect him for his knowledge, he’s not a leader like my former boss and doesn’t care about the junior and ancillary folks in our group that are the heartbeat of our operation.

Work was better when we were in the office, and I miss the camaraderie a lot as we had a really close knit team. Since Covid, we lost our boss that everyone loved, and several junior team members who quit.

I get requests for my team to extract "huge" reports for data feeds. We charge a lot of money to do it. I will put it through grooming and everything. When it's sprint ready I go into Salesforce and pull the reports myself. It takes me 2 minutes. :loldog:

I could prob do my job in one day a week. It just doesn't take me as long to do shit as it used to. I'm one of the old people now, I guess.

This for me. Except I only like most people I work with. I work for the state government but I get to provide a lot of opportunities for people who may not otherwise have them. It’s fulfilling, while also being frustrating at times. Would I rather play golf all day? Of course. But I’m happy and I get paid well.

COVID sucks ass, but it has ultimately changed my life for the better. Different perspectives, have been able to save a ton and put that towards side projects, and just more free time to pursue hobbies/passions that you can't when you're working + commuting 50+ hours/week.

I'm very much looking forward to returning to pre-pandemic social life, but this 1.5 year shutdown completely changed the trajectory of my career.
