I don’t do much in IT, more in the skilled trades, industrial maintenance, CNC technicians, etc., but if you let me know where you end up applying, I may have some connections.
I know this isn’t the purpose of the thread, but I think it would be cool if we could help each other professionally, as well as personally. Like I mentioned, I work in workforce development and can help people connect with educational institutions and build a talent pipeline for whatever industry (with some exceptions) you’re in. I work for a national organization so we have schools and industry partners nationwide. I think something like that would be cool, especially as we have aged and gotten rid of most of the bad actors.
I’m all for helping each other in any ways we can. Odin has hung at my place before. Granted that was just for a concert. I’ve let posters crash at my place and would help any way I can. Even if it’s just you need someone to vent about shit too.
If anyone is good with resumes and wants to give this updated one a look (I’m sure it’s needs some trimming and crap) DM and I’ll email it over.
Definitely would still want someone good with resumes to look it over, but don't hesitate to use ChatGPT in a number of ways here. 1. Have it reword/expand etc. lines and responsibilities you think need it. 2. Ask it, for specific jobs what kind of things you should include 3. If you've found openings pretty sure you could paste the whole job description and have it help you craft one tailored to a specific job You can always push it for more/different results. "reword that again but be more descriptive" "make it more concise" You may already know these things and use it but just throwing it out there. I'm still trying to get into a better habit of using it because everytime I do I'm more blown away by its' capabilities and usefulness.
Talk about tone deaf. The Kelly contact at the plant just sent an email to all the Kelly employees advertising the employee discount available for purchasing a new Nissan. “Hey I know we told you that you’re being laid off with no severance in a month but don’t you want to buy a new Nissan?”
Not sure if you have it Jax Teller but Microsoft Co-pilot is another tool if you don't have a chatGPT account.
Yea I took y’all’s advice and used both. Co-pilot gave me some good refinements while chat gpt did more “put into ATS friendly format” so now I have one of each lol. Saved a bunch of jobs over the weekend then started applying yesterday. Actually came into the office for some dumb reason today so haven’t been applying much this morning but that’s gonna change after lunch.
Well only two rejection emails so far out of like 12 applications put in. And they were the two jobs so far I was least excited about applying to so I’m keeping hopes high for now. Have 4 more to apply to in the morning.
