before someone says they’re creating jobs by leaving their carts all over the parking lot, those kids are paid to take the kids from the cart corral to the front of the store not to pick up after your lazy ass. they also probably already have primary jobs at the store like checkout or stocking shelves they’re getting pulled from to do that.
Death to those that don't!
I worked at a grocery store in college where I had the role of collecting carts. My job consisted of collecting carts, bagging groceries, dealing with the cans and bottle returns and cleaning spills or bathrooms. Carts was by far the best of the choices and loved when I had to pick up random carts from around the parking lot because it meant I wasn’t doing the other things.
I worked at one in summer where my main job was checkout but they would send me to get carts sometimes.
I didn’t even mind it. it’s just the principle of someone trying to justify their own laziness and selfishness that annoys the shit out of me.
Yes I do, and I am very judgey about those who don't.
I think most everyone here is adult enough to know better. The real question to ask is "at the grocery store do you return items you don't want to the place you got them from or do you throw them anywhere because you're lazy" and 95% of ya'll saying yes are lying through your damn teeth.
You are a horrible human if you don’t
I do, but in fairness I'm not a selfish piece of shit
Just added this in the random thoughts thread a few minutes ago...
I'll intentionally park at the far end of the Aldi parking lot and collect carts to return for the quarters as I head toward the front entrance.
It's like they're paying you to walk into their store!
(And then I buy $DOGE)
Leave cart in store, walk to my VW Bug with 65 pounds of spam in each in fist
In seriousness though, yes I do
I also, without fail, get bamboozled into thinking the cart holder rack is a parking spot
for sure. much better fucking around in a giant parking lot picking up carts than dealing with an asshole customer.
what if there are no cart corrals?
New poll: are you addicted to the dopamine spike from judging other people and the false virtue attached to that action?
[ ] I’m lying
Sounds like we need another poll.
poll is lacking options
it’s just yes or no? no other middle ground?
There you go. Added one.
I honestly can’t think of a store that doesn’t but I guess bring it back to the front of the store.
Mine doesn't because they want the bagger to take your stuff to the car. If they're busy or I want to avoid the awkward small talk, I just bring it back inside
Ever since the day forever ago that I walked out of a Kroger to see a random cart with its corner leaned against my car, only to pull it back and see about a 6"x2" dent, I'm on board with this opinion.
Sounds like someone is defensive about being a POS who doesn’t put his cart away
I put my cart away mostly for this reason. Don't want to dent someone's car
The shopping cart return is the minimum test of character. Automatic piece of shit if you fail at it.
I take it home with me. A shopping cart is a great vehicle for hauling my personal items around.
The people that make these comments sound like Stephen Miller asking why he should have to pick up trash when his school paid janitors to do it for them. I automatically assume those people are just as abhorrent as he is
If it’s a cold item I return it - If it’s a boxed item it’s going wherever I am standing
I was the 69th yes vote
no because theres never any cart returns next to handicap parking
the handicap parking is at the front of the store. Walk the 5 feet and return it
Yes... I’m not a fucking monster
:highfive: my fellow piece of shit
those fucking people who leave them right in front of or behind other cars deserve death
if i could do that easily i wouldnt be parking there
The rare times I leave my cart without returning it, I leave it here, in between two spaces to help avoid the cart from flying around or blocking a space.
and no I'm not trying to gain approval for my animalistic savage-like behavior. Just explaining how it is.
Someone here has lazy bonesitus?
If I still had a dating app my bio would contain three hard rules:
1. Republicans - swipe left
2. people who don’t always return their shopping cart - swipe left
3. people who say “must be able to keep up with my sarcasm” pls delete your account and re-examine yourself.
Shopping cart golf is one of the best things about doing the shopping so hell yea
they're very convinced that tacos and "sarcasm" are personality traits
The same people who didn’t touch the line in hs workouts. You did your best, Coach.
They also seem to think that they like going on vacations is somehow note worthy.
No, that’s why I had a kid
This. Been a long time but that was by far the best part of the gig. That said, I put carts away because I hate trying to park and having to get out and move an abandoned cart to get into the space.
Was going to say the exact same thing. I put my cart away where it needs to go, but man I loved going to random grass islands to pick up stray carts in high school. Spent way more time outside because of it. Loved it and the people that did it.
I just use the small baskets because I’m only shopping for myself ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Or I get groceries delivered... can’t remember the last time I even used a cart
Always amazes me people can walk thousands of steps in the store and to/from their car but can’t walk the 50 feet to put the cart back
I’m not sure I’ve ever needed to put an item back after I’ve moved on from where I got it from.
