Plus there's that bullshit where Messenger forces you to update it to keep using it... No, I don't think I will
I was sitting at breakfast with my wife and her parents and her mom said something about a post I'd recently made to the extent of "wow you really don't care who you offend anymore. You know we agree with your sentiments so who do you think you're preaching to?" I had been on the fence for weeks so I pulled up Facebook and clicked Delete My Account on the spot. I don't miss it an iota. Fuck Facebook and fuck Zuckerberg for the irreparable divide he has casually sown across our country. I hope that fucker loses everything he's ever loved.
If I didn’t have Facebook, I’d forget the conservative side of things exists bc I live in a city and work at a university. Despite it pissing me off, I think it’s good to read those posts and remember the views out there
yup my wife and I just both deleted it a few weeks ago, it’s been great......my wife has an IG so any kids pics for family can be seen there
For me it’s “how would I creep every person I meet”. Generally when learning of a new person these days I like to check their online persona and get info about them
Fox News is still a thing. Twitter still has plenty of chuds. You don’t need to feather Zuck’s nest to know what trump cultists believe.
It's weird that huge increases in interconnectedness and information did not lead America to a better place. I guess it's not since it's happening right before our eyes. You think of our parents and grandparents maybe growing up in much more insular worlds. Maybe they work in a rural, southern area, and many of their coworkers are blatant racists. Seems like that environment lends itself to status quo going on and on. Hard to understand how that has only been magnified with internet/technology/social media.
People research everything online these days from yelp to product reviews. We really still gonna act like it’s weird to look up people?
I don’t watch much tv and would never turn to faux news. Never been into twitter. Plus twitter is like all these national people, not people I know
I was the opposite. I am independent or Green Party voter and have been my whole voting life. In 2016 even if I hadn’t liked her I couldn’t I’m good conscious vote for anyone other than Hilary. I am glad that Open Carry has seen his mistake.
Facebook sucks. Only reason I keep it is because I help my parents promote their small business and Facebook is a boon for that. On the note, my mother (who voted for Trump in 2016) now is posting all sorts of anti-Trump, pro-BLM stuff now and enthusiastically wanted me to do the #blackouttuesday post on the business’ page. She’s in north suburban Houston, so not exactly a liberal paradise. She’s not “woke” and it sucks that she voted for him the first time, but I’m glad she’s finally seeing the light, or at least looking for it.
I assume many people will vote for Trump in 2020 for the same reason they did in 2016. They’ll be damned before they go along with what they feel is condescending ‘liberal elite’ telling them what to do. The messaging from many people on the left could be vastly improved and if it were it may even have a serious positive effect on the level of political divisiveness we deal with.
Shut the fuck up. It isn’t “the left” that ran on a platform of “fuck your feelings.” Concern trolling the left about divisiveness and crass political discourse isn’t flying this year. The ultimate vulgarian is the Republican president of the United States. If anybody actually cared about divisiveness they’d never vote for the guy that spent his entire time in office catering explicitly to his base and deliberately attacking everyone else. Get the fuck out of here with this victimization bullshit. Step up to the plate and do the right thing. Or don’t. Nobody’s going to cater to your snowflake ass.
Most people I know in Alabama would literally never vote for a Democrat. If they truly hate both candidates they just won't vote. And so long as they don't vote for Trump I'm fine with it. Baby steps.
how is this for a message. Fuck you. Fuck you. Fuck you. If you vote for trump right now you’re a pos racist asshole. So get fucked.
I thought conservatives were about personal responsibility and loving their country? Now you will go against your gut and the good of the country if people attempt to make you feel bad for voting for Trump in ‘16. lol
That post reminded me of the whole "people would be more willing to believe climate change isn't bullshit if liberals were nicer about it" thing
It’s all projection with the right. “Lol liberal snowflakes”. Oh shit you said something mean to me so I’ll vote for the racist asshole who has lead us to 110000 dead Americans, the highest unemployment rate and worst economy since the Great Depression and a civil unrest like this nation has never seen. Go fucking choke on a gaggle of dicks it you’re contemplating voting for this asshat again.
"ugh why does everything have to be so political?" is a legit thing one of our employees said when I told them they are required to wear a mask at work.
You better be nice to me or I’m voting for fascism. First demand, stop tagging my fan base in Jim Harbaugh threads.
This the majority of red states. There is no message from a democrat that will reach rural republican voters. None. Whatever the dems say, am radio and fox news will counter. It's a waste of time.
Lol my grandma was a Democratic delegate in the 80’s and my parents met a a young Democrats meeting in college. I’ve never voted red in my life. Read all my other posts in this thread and tell me why you think I have or would have ever voted for him. The fact that you all go right to that shit when I say my opinion is kinda my point.
There’s no amount of tax savings or economic benefit that could rationalize voting for Trump without suspending any chance of being a decent human.
I don’t give a fuck. Democrats punching left are doing republicans’ work for them. Criticizing “the left” for the current state of our political discourse is absurdist fantasy in no way connected with any kind of reality. You want to improve political discourse in America? I’ve got a simple plane for you: 1. Stop buying into right wing talking points 2. Point them out for the bullshit they are regardless of who says them. Done.
Our posts are directed at Trumptards if that’s not you than they don’t apply to you. Not that difficult to understand. Trump is a pos racist. His base loves that he isn’t “pc” “that “he tells it like it is” but for you that somehow translates to the left being at fault for the way the political discussion being where it is. Again if someone is voting for trump fuck them.
I’m 32 and I’ve felt that political divisiveness was ruining politics since pretty much I was old enough to form an opinion on it. I can’t convey in written words how fucking sad I am over where we are as a country and the issues we’re going through today. To be clear personally I’m hoping and assuming these protests go on everyday until the election. I just think that the rise of Trump has as much to do with a dynamic that’s existed for years rather than him being so revolutionary in his shittiness that he created all these issues out of thin air. He simply set fire to them such in a drastic way that is actually still hard for me to comprehend.
But those feelings you have should 100% be directed at the GOP. They mastered the whole political division thing
Obviously. It’s just so toxic now that it seems like the next logical step is civil fucking war and I’m just trying to be on record as wishing it wouldn’t happen. Even though outside of ignorant racist people admitting they’re wrong I don’t see any way it will.
when one group of people doesn’t see another group people as people you’ll have that division. Trump is a reaction to white people feeling afraid of the “browning” of America. It’s the result of a Black man having the audacity to be elected POTUS. Trump built is political career on racist propaganda. He is loved because he says the quite parts out loud.
post civil rights was historically low partisanship, it was a huge outlier in US and world history. what we're in now is more historically normal. just from a partisan division standpoint. so uhhh, everyone should get used to it
Politics is a zero sum game in the truest form. If you dont win, you lose and you get no influence in the marketplace of ideas. This is what the GOP and their base figured out long ago and its why they vote like hell every. single. election. Time for rational people to do the same, because right now we are witnessing what happens when we dont.
