This thread gave me an idea for a new business selling recovery/house underwear that give your butthole a luxurious break after particularly strenuous shits.
I will wear slippers occasionally but mostly fuck socks and shoes and anything covering my feet most all the time.
Oofos miraculously recovered Alex Smith from basically cutting his leg off so https://www.oofos.com/blogs/moovers/meet-our-moover-alex-smith
I’m a believer in not wearing my shoes in the house, but I’m so gosh darn forgetful I’m constantly going in and out of the house with my dern shoes on. Luckily I live in one of those urban sprawls with houses made of ticky tacky so I don’t collect too much dirt or nastiness. But when I’m aware my shoes are on in the house and I’m not immediately going anywhere, I take them off.
Hate stuff on my feet, but, I’ve got wicked neuropathy in my feet from my time as a booze hound so I kind of have to keep them covered. I bought these cloud sandals and they’re comfy as hell but they’re so soft that my heels sink when my forefoot doesn’t and it’s awkward as hell. team Ugg slippers.
the idea might seem ludicrous but, especially with hardwood floors, wearing something on your feet is really smart. Knee and back pain are so directly correlated starting with your feet.
I took a trip to Colorado earlier this month and I bought some shoes for the trip I thought would look nice. Wore them everywhere but they really fucked my feet up. So at work I have only been able to wear my hoka shoes and no other brands(I have a lot that I rotate through to keep them fresh longer)The hoka recovery slides I had been wearing got trashed on the trip. So I found some oofos slides at scheels last week. The Hoka’s were great but the oofos are a game changer. I’ll have pain in my feet laying in bed, throw those on when I stand up and by the time I’ve walked the 10 steps to the bathroom I have relief.
Oofos have been a life changer for me. I can't walk barefoot anymore. I've got pair of oofos slides that I wear around the house and a pair of oofos clogs I wear out to do stuff outside. For shoes I wear Altras with a wide toe box. I'm tempted to try the oofos shoes next. Glad you're happy with your oofos.
Got some oofos clogs for my birthday and Fucking love them. Contemplating just switching full time to there stuff.
Just replaced the insoles on my Ugg Ascots after a thorough leather cleaning. Repaired the two small holes I've worn in the toes with Shoe Goo (wonderful product) and I'm ready for colder weather. I've worn them year-round daily for over three years as the Australian Sheep Wool really does regulate foot temperature hot or cold. I'll have to part with them when the bottom sole wears out but as of right now there's plenty left. Then I'll just go out and buy another pair. I'd be lost without them at this point.
they always have sales I usually pick up a pair when they go on sale to have an extra one when the ones I have get too worn out. Usually replace them every 2 years or so. These black leather ones will probably last me a little longer. The powder blue suede ones I had got too dirty too quick for my liking.
The black leather Ascots are what I have and it took me 3 years to wear down the leather on the underside of the toe. I only realized when my toes were getting wet walking the dogs. Shoe Goo applied with a Q-tip solved the problem. I replace the insoles once a year for $20 or so. If you rake the wool on the top and sides of the foot it'll usually fluff right up. Maybe work it with a Shop-Vac. I'm also the type to never go without a sock of some sort even if it's just a loafer sock so that helps them tremendously from getting swampy. To me, $100 for a pair of slippers was an extravagance and when I consider something an extravagance I usually maintain it until it literally falls apart. I do know what you mean about buying spares. I've love, love, loved Adidas Stan Smith sneakers since I was a kid. Well, they stopped producing them for a long while and only brought them back what, like maybe 10-15 years ago. I now have two backup pair that I've picked up on Nordstrom Rack over the years when they infrequently go sub-$70. They're the backups to a pair that I lovingly resurrected and restored after a surprise basement flood that I wore them through a few years ago. They're clean and smell fresh as a daisy thanks to cedar sachets stuffed in the toes when not in use. Not that you asked to hear any of this. I fell asleep waiting for Judge to hit #62 and now I'm up and wired.
I usually can pick them up for around 70 and sometimes I have coupons for $20 from their rewards program so it’s not that bad. I only wear them indoors but I walk funny and usually wear down the inner part of the sole before the outer part. I’ll wear down the thread in a couple years. I do tend to replace the insole at least once before I replace the slipper. I’m going to try the wool trick. These that I have are still good I just need to clean the leather and spruce up the wool. I bought my first pair probably 7-8 years ago and I won’t buy any other kind of slipper again. I just have a bad habit of stepping on the back when I put them on.
I actually have a $20 certificate right now that expires soon so I might be time for new insoles. edit ordered them and got free next day delivery. With the discount it was $11 for the insoles. Glad I checked. RU-Omega Potato tell me more about the wool thing.
Yep, you can rake the wool with your fingers or if you really want to get into it use one of those stiff wire contraptions women use to clean out their hairbrushes. Just don't tell her. Cedar wood sachets are a miracle device for keeping moisture from destroying any type of informal footwear. Drop those in your Uggs when you're not wearing them to help the wool recover from your foot sweat. I'll bet the same woman whose hairbrush cleaner you're going to use to rake out your slippers has seen these things dirt cheap on the shopping sites.
we have porcelain plank floors throughout the house so I usually wear slippers in the winter. Been thinking of trying those Bombas slipper socks anyone have a ringing endorsement?
Wicked swung over to the oofos website randomly. They have a few color ways on sale for around half on some. Getting some purple haze flip flops for 30.
Wicked interestingly enough they are an id.me website. So I got an additional %20 off for being a nurse. So just picked them up for 25.68 including tax and free s&h.
I meant to post this the other day. Snagged some camo sportflex sandals for 40 bucks as they were clearance pluses an additional 20 percent off. Should have gotten 2 pairs.
Gotta be somewhat cold but Olukai slippers are the best things I’ve ever put on my feet. Still no idea what recovery shoes are but they are heavenly
Have a pair, they’re kinda narrow but like them. Slippers are much better. They also fucked up my order last year and sent me an extra pair I didn’t pay for which was cool
