There are a bunch of private schools considered on their level but yeah it’s a nice school in a random area. Kid was just going to camp there.
speaking of which really enjoyed the 8 year old Berkeley kids teaching my kid to say “suck my dick.”
My dad did some consulting work for FSU in the late 80s. I went down to Tallahassee with him when I was like 7 or 8. We toured the athletic facility and met Bobby Bowden. After about 5 minutes of talking to us, he invites just the two of us to dinner. I remember him meeting us for dinner and him being as nice as can be. What was cool is my dads work had nothing to do with athletics or could benefit Bowden in any way. He didn’t have to entertain us, but he just wanted too. He just saw a dad and his kid from out of town and wanted to be nice. I always thought what an awesome guy.
Going to call my dad and get the full scoop, but looking back he probably appreciated the fact my dad knew nothing about sports or kept up. Just some guy he could talk about other things with. Plus FSU and USM recently played so maybe there was a connection there since my dad was a USM grad.
He also gave me a FSU hat and I wore that thing daily until I lost it knee boarding like a year or two later. Was devastated when I lost it
Probably was just nice to you so in case you ended up being a 5 star quality football player 10 years later.
In this thread I've learned we don't judge people by how they treat others we judge them based on hypothetical scenarios and events that occurred with others in the same occupation and then assume that it applies to the person we're talking about and then ignore what people who spent time around the person think of him.
Ha. I was never going to be bigger than 5”8 160. Dreams were dashed at an early age
Seemed like a guy that did great things for his community and was a good role model/father figure for his players while also probably holding political views the majority of this board is stringently against.
Just sharing some of my highly sought after wisdom
Don't forget that Joe Paterno covered up child rape. That's very important as well.
Private school kids are, objectively, the worst.
-former private school kid
I went to public school but have plenty of private school friends. They all have their stories. I figured it would get better as time goes on.
My kid was there for flag football camp. He's 8. He gets thrown some deep ball from a high school kid and my kid dives for and can't catch it one handed. The Berkley kids that are 8 immediately start telling him "you fucking suck we aren't going to throw it to you." The same kid then drops a wide open buttonhook route. My kid says "ohh I'm the one that sucks" and the other kid retorts "yeah you do suck my dick."
Amazing parenting over there.
learn em young
big brain shit
Kudos to your kid for giving it back to him
I lasted in private school 1 year. Nuns hated me, got hit with a ruler and to public school I went.
Can we go back to talking shit about USC
Berkeley is a great school. Had a few friends go there but fuck off spending $25k for Kindergarten.
You should see how much better Duck Duck Goose is at Berkley compared to Mabry Elementary.
“dude is a white Christian conservative Republican he has always been a POS” - very telling statement from you
He's a little shit talker himself. I expect him to get in several fights growing up.
How did you ever decode it?
just like pa
a chip off the old block
Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree and such
Having met Mrs Lawnole23 my money is on her being where that chip came from
I've met Bobby numerous times. He always seemed to go out of his way to make those he met feel special and welcomed. Just a super kind dude. But he also held some dog shit, inexcusable political views. Both things can be true. Human beings can be contradictory.
yeah and? I think those things make for a shit person.
You don’t see the issue in judging someone you have never met off of their religion, race, and/or political views?
this will go well
no I don’t but to be fair it’s more about him being conservative, christian, republican and from the south than his race. Those first three are choices and come with very clear and known ideologies. Me judging a republican or a Christian isn’t a bad thing because I know what they believe. I’m not inventing anything.
I believe there is a term for this type of thinking
im independent I’m progressive im from the best coast. There are certain things he could guess about me because of those things.
judging someone one because of the ideological beliefs they hold? Pray tell what word is that?
Not to mention that we make judgements and assessments all the time based on incomplete information
you don’t think being Christian, republican, or conservative are choices? Or are you going to ignore those things?
I'm saying you are being prejudice
yes I prejudge people with those beliefs. That isn’t a horrible thing that you’re attempting to pretend it is.
So, it would be ok if I said the same thing about Muslims or Mexicans?
You can and should judge someone because of their political views
Did Mexicans choose to be Mexican?
They could be like Texans and choose to pretend not to be.
Definition of racism = prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.
I get your point and I probably shouldn’t feel the way I do about people who hold those beliefs but I do.
And I shouldn't have used Mexican as ShuPoor pointed out
Counterpoint: people who hold those beliefs want to send your wife and kids back to where they came from (and that has no relationship whatsoever to where they actually come from).
being a republican, Christian and conservative is a choice and none of those are a racial group. Him being white and from the south along with those other things during the time he grew up makes me believe he has always been a pos. Seeing what he saw and knowing how blacks were treated and still holding on to those beliefs speaks volumes to me.
just to be clear being a white nationalist is a political view
can I not judge someone based on that view?
I was actually going to point that out but I figured I might as well as say I understood the point you were trying to make. There was no point in me feigning ignorance.
how dare you judge nazis for their political views
Bruh none of the things he said are a race
