Very sorry 34. Beautiful dog and I'm sure he had an incredible life. Have always adored your pups via Facebook.
Website says they are done accepting apps due to getting so many, they are going to review tonight and let people know by the end of the week.
I wanted to think our dog just loves the hell out of people but it's become obvious he has bad separation anxiety. We usually bring him with us on trips out of town. Usually to my inlaws who are dog people so he gets to play with their dogs which is a bonus. He's a year now and we decided to leave him home for the weekend and I hired this kid in our neighborhood to feed him and walk him while we are gone. Just decided to check the video of him and he's been pacing back and forth from the front door to the back for the last day. When he decided to 'relax' he jumps on the couch and sticks his head up looking at the door the whole time just waiting on us. He usually sleeps from 9-630 with us but video shows him up all night and a nervous wreck. Makes me sad as fuck. Hopefully he will grow out of it but I don't know what else to do.
Seriously considering getting a dog since work really close to my apartment now and can take it to the dog park on my lunch break. People who own a 40-70lb dog, what are you spending/month on food? Thoughts on pet insurance?
75lb Rhodesian Ridgeback here. I spend $80/month on food, but it's top shelf stuff because she has some weird allergies. I do not have pet insurance because IMO it doesn't cover enough.
I own 2 70-80lb labs. I go through ~70lbs of off a month, usually $100. When I just had one 70lber it was about half that. Usually would go through a 35lb bag in about a month, give or take.
Also feeding Taste of the Wild. 55 pound doggy. Probably order a new bag (30 lbs) every month and a half or so from amazon.
55 lb dog(irish setter) Spend about 40 a month on food. pet insurance just depends on what they cover.. I wI'll probably kop for next dog tho
My husky just tore up a possum in our backyard. If he is up to date on his shots and I see no wounds on him, do I need to take him in to vet? I know Possum can carry some diseases. He got the possum pretty good, there is a good amount of blood on the driveway
I'm no vet, but if I were in your shoes I'd check my dog over extra carefully and make sure there's no wounds. As long as he's clean, I'd probably not worry too much
If he didn't get hurt he's probably OK. I'd probably only go straight to a vet if it was a raccoon, those things are fucking filled with parasites and diseases.
It was pouring rain when I got my dog in from what I thought was a possum and it was covered in blood and mud and facing belly up. I went back out there to dispose of it now that the rain stopped and I was wrong. it's not a small possum, it's a giant fucking rat. he killed a rat a few weeks ago that was about half the size of this one so that's why I thought possum. Proud of him now, kill all of those rats
Curious if any of you have had this issue. Every time we board our dog it seems, afterwards she seems to have an eye infection or eye allergies where they are red and way more than normal discharge. We've had the same eye ointment for a couple years and a few treatments of that makes her eyes go back to normal but no idea what is happening in the kennel to give her this reaction.
Mine is 61 lbs and a 30lb bag lasts me over a month at least. I use a company that delivers all natural food and it's like $55 for the recipe I use. They are a Nashville company. And god yes i should have had insurance. Also rover.com is awesome and cheap to fond dog walkers/sitters etc.
She is allergic to something at the boarding place Also just like human day care, doggie day care has their own fair share of germs thanks to neglective owners
to add to the food discussion, Scarlet is just over 70 pounds, she goes through about a 30 lb bag per month. We use Fromm Four Star Nutritionals, usually the Salmon A La Veg flavor, she loves it. We buy from Chewy.com, absolutely awesome site. Free shipping over $49 and super fast. My last order I placed at 11:21 PM on a Sunday night, I got the shipment confirmation email at 12:57 AM on Monday morning (yes 96 minutes later). Cheaper prices than Amazon usually, incredible service, love them.
Yea, Chewy is awesome. $8/bag cheaper than anywhere else with free shipping. It's the little things too, like the *hand written Christmas card they sent today.
Yep, absolutely. I remember getting a card from them after my first order, I showed it to my wife, I think my words were "holy shit that's real ink!"
Taste of the wild is about the same price as Amazon and since a 30/lb bag is $45-$46...if doesn't meet free shipping threshold. BYT they do have more flavors of food than Amazon carries.
I don't know if I mentioned it before, but Kaiser was featured in his rescue's calendar. I finally purchased the pics today. Here are the highlights from the shoot: Spoiler
Haven't posted here in a while but I have two dogs, a collie mix and shepherd mix. They are both very well behaved at home with the wife and I so I've been a little lazy on taking that next step in training. The sister in law stayed with us with her out of control dog over Thanksgiving and I quickly realized that my dogs aren't nearly as well trained as I thought. Decided to really make the effort to get them well trained where I have confidence in them following commands no matter the distractions. The collie mix is incredibly lazy but the Shepherd mix is crazy high energy so I want to get her off leashed trained that we can go on some fun adventures. Been watching a ton of this guys videos and using his training "theories": https://www.youtube.com/user/SolidK9Training The results have been truly awesome. Like I said they were fairly well trained before but in just 1 week it's been crazy to see the quick results. I'll start training them both on remote collars here in the next week and am really excited to be able to go and do off leash things with confidence that I have control. Thought it might be helpful though for others in my position.
So im not a reddit person...but just look at this thread called Dogberg...which are dogs acting like Goldberg and spearing/taking out humans, cats, and other good dogs. https://www.reddit.com/r/Dogberg/
After review. The receiver has complete possession and makes a football move. It is ruled a catch and a fumble recovery by the defense. First down dogs.
Welp Nymeria is about to cost me part of my new raise. She has gotten aggressive when it comes to new items. Last night she snapped at my roommate when he went to try and take a piece of trash she found from her. Partly his fault as she stared him downed and growled when he reached and he went for it anyways. But absolutely mostly my fault (and hers) for not recognizing and correcting this the first couple times. Been in contact with some GPA recommended trainers. I've never dealt with a dog that had aggressive tendencies and this is too important an issue for me to go about it on my own. I'd rather bring in professional help.
There's a good facebook group called Reactive Dogs. Definitely some crazies in the group, but lots of good information.
I'll have to look into it. I'm sure part of this is because of treating her like a princess since she had the surgery and she's forgotten who runs the house.
