Ok all you GSD lovers, these Shephard mix pups just hit the website, they are beautiful! It doesn't say they are mixed with Lab, but looking at the second pup there, seems like that's what it is. These are all in Maine right now, typically they are only adopted out in Maine, but I just asked the foster coordinator if someone was willing to go pick them up if they were allowed to be adopted outside of Maine. She said it has happened before, so if you see one you like and would be willing to go get them, just let me know and I can do whatever possible. Do you give your dog heart worm meds all year round or just when it's warm and the mosquitos are out? Obv it depends on where you live but I've been doing year-round and not sure if it's necessary. It's not some huge burden to my wallet and certainly better safe than sorry, but I'm just curious.
definitely a must here in Florida, fucking year round mosquitos, nothing makes me rage more than getting bit by those fuckers in December. I'm sure Scarlet feels the same
yes. all year around. i've heard about people skipping the winter months though. but all it takes is one mosquito. its all luck. I've seen dogs with owners who never give really give it and every year the test comes back negative. then you have people who usually give it religiously every month but forgot a couple months here and there due to business/memory loss and boom they come up positive.
flea season is terrible down here right now due to us not really getting any deep freezes this winter. almost every other appointment is for itchy skin. i'm sure y'all dont have to worry about that though till may
That plus living in middle of city, unfortunately we don't get to take him out in nature as much as I'd like. The risk of picking up a flea or tick is pretty small, even if I didnt use the flea and tick prevention
another thing about hw pills is if you do miss a couple doses here and there or skip the winter months, most companies won't cover your pet's treatment unless you have a negative hw test on file. so say you had a negative hw test starting this month, got prevention, but didnt give it to the pet a couple months throughout the year. so when you go back in Feb for your annuals and the test comes back positive, that is their loophole.
watched A Dogs Purpose the other day, cried like 10 times if you dont cry watching that movie then you dont belong in this thread
dump this is probably a stupid question but I'll ask it anyway. Sabo was at the vet today and he's got a little bald spot on top of his head. It's not infected, or itchy, and doesn't appear to bother him in anyway. The vet suggested using fish oil. I checked Amazon and most of it is something I can put on his food. But is there like something you can rub directly on the spot or is it all need to be consumed?
FWIW Truman always had super dry skin/dandruff and I switched to a salmon based food and it seemed have helped ever since. The main reason for switching was to go to grain-free to help his poops, but that was a nice side benefit.
Been using this on advice of this thread for a couple of years. One squirt in gus's dinner and he doesn't lick himself anymore and his dandruff is gone.
My cavalier hung out with my brothers mailnois this weekend. She was in heat. This was him after 30 minutes of trying to get some
Truman just got certified for this. We start next week. Im pretty excited. https://www.sitstayread.org/
Also, was at a singles networking event and met this quite lovely young lass. She tells me she's a vet, I was like oh really where at? Turns out she's a vet at the clinic that did Nymeria's surgery and knows the Dr that did the surgery quite well. I got a text the next day asking when I was bringing her in for her final check up. (Here's a hint, when I have the $250 it's going to cost since they have to put her under for x-rays). It will be after the 10th of March actually.. bonus check time.
took the afternoon off work to bring Rory to the vet because I noticed a small lump on his right side late last week they aspirated and determined it was just a fatty lump and not something to be concerned with. Probably the happiest I've been since Vandy won the national championship in baseball in 2014 my family has always given Rory heartworm and flea/tick all year even though I know people up here (WY) who don't give any medicine to their dogs at any point during the year because of the climate. But since I bring him down to CO and he has been back to TN with me I figure I might as well keep doing what we have always been doing just in case
This dude is my new hero: http://valleycentral.com/news/local...hepherd-dragged-behind-scooter-in-viral-video The German Shepherd known as "G2" — made famous when a Mission man dragged her behind his scooter, prompting widespread outrage and an animal cruelty investigation — recently found a new home. Father Roy Snipes of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission adopted G2 and gave her a new name: Ceniza. Ceniza is the Spanish word for ash, and Snipes said he picked the name because Ash Wednesday was approaching. The self-styled cowboy priest is well known for adopting stray and abused animals. "I'm sure this Sunday everybody is going to want to see her," Snipes said. "So if she's calmed down enough I'll bring her into mass with me." Snipes knows Mario Cardona, the 59-year-old man accused of dragging Ceniza behind his motorized scooter. Cardona attends Our Lady of Guadalupe. Video of Cardona dragging Ceniza behind the scooter went viral in mid-February, prompting widespread outrage and triggering a criminal investigation. The Dallas Morning News, CBS News and the New York Daily News covered the story. Cardona is charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals, a Class A misdemeanor. He remains at the Hidalgo County jail and couldn't be reached for comment. "There's more goodness in him than he even realizes," Snipes said. "But he's a roughneck. I don't think he ever really wanted to hurt his dog." Animal Control turned Ceniza over to Snipes. The priest already cares for roughly nine other dogs, who often accompany him to church. Exactly how many? He can't say. "It's hard to tell you 'cause I can't get them to sit still long enough to get a good head count," Snipes said, chuckling.
My youngest wants a pug for his bday. I know there are several on here who own Pugs. Anybody have some advice for me on this?
As a non pig owner, prepare to fall in love. I love 2 and miss getting to see them. Think I have a visit coming up for hunapu day.
Speaking of pugs, we finally had our home visit with the area coordinator for the pug rescue, Scarlet took a little while to warm up to the "test pug" she brought, but i'm not worried. Whenever we get our next dog, Scarlet would meet them for the first time at the dog park and then come home together. When someone just shows up in her house, its harder for her to adjust. I want a pug, the wife wants an American Eskimo. The eskimo rescue group is coming for their home visit tonight. Now it will be a race to see who finds the best fitting dog first.
Wish I could do two, just found this awesome bonded pair with the pug group i was just talking about. Really rare to find pugs this young and healthy and trained available for rescue. http://pugrescueofflorida.org/project/izzy-and-tubby/
dude that fucking sucks, what the fuck is wrong with people. Sending good thoughts man, if I were near you i'd strap up and roll around town looking for him. People need to pay for that shit.
that's fucking awful. I hope something turns up, I can't imagine how awful that must feel. I don't think I could function if someone stole my dogs
