looking at lab pups born last sunday i want another lab (my last one passed a few years ago) so bad but damn i dread puppy training again
It's not great bob and it's just me because as my wife lets me know "you wanted another kid" I am happy she was cool with two bullys.
My rescue buddy has realized that he's finally home. He's been sleeping on my lap all evening. One of life's simple pleasures.
harness recommendations? he's grown out of the small one i bought when we first got him looking at ruffwear, just wondering if anyone has anything better
Hey All, for any of the Florida and Georgia peeps ITT, if you or anyone you know wants to do some fostering of animals, Pixel is always looking for new ones. Availability of fosters, as much or more than cash, is often the limiting factor on what animals we can help. Please mention it to anyone you know who may be interested, it can be short term or long term, sometimes there's more work involved than others, just depends. Here's the foster application link, if anyone fills it out please let me know so i can help guide it through the process. http://www.thepixelfund.org/foster.html Much Fam
Spent some time with this girl yesterday, this is Honey, so relaxed and easy going. Great with kids (let a 2 year old boy pet her for about 10 minutes yesterday) and a cuddler. She's been through a lot the last week, she was a Pixel pup back in 2015, adopted out and then last week we find out she's at Seminole County Animal Services. She got away from her owner and when she was found, the owner couldn't come up with the money for the fees. Also seems like they were not keeping up with her shots and care as well as they should have. So she's a Pixel pup again. You can tell she's a bit wary but her personality is awesome. Love the ear too!
Also last chance for these two to be adopted in FL or GA before they head to Maine this week. Both awesome pups, Souffle is the black one (Whippet/Catahoula/Border Collie?), perfect combination of rambunctious and chill. Noel (Boxer/hound mix) is going to be an amazing energetic dog, yesterday he was trying to climb out of the pen they were in and kept sticking his head up to see what was going on. Both dogs are 4-1/2 months, adoption fee is $355. That covers spay/neuter, up to date on shots, microchip and rabies.
understood. Yesterday was frustrating because people kept saying "we have dogs already, we can't do another one". Need to figure out how to reach the people without dogs, show them this thread so they know how awesome rescue dogs are, and get them set up.
Yet another example why the German Shepherd is the GOAT breed. Spoiler April 1982, Bridget, a 9 year old GSD became the first Search and Rescue Dog in America to locate a human avalanche victim.
Weird question but Zoe has been licking her butthole like intently for like an hour now or longer and won't stop. She just started tonight, has been in a moving truck with me or in a hotel the past 24 hours and seemed fine. I checked the poop, well I looked at it and didn't see anything and when I look at the butt there's nothing crazy looking, but there is a red mark on the edge almost like a bug bite. dump or others....Anything to be concerned with?
I recommend you get a super expensive one your dog cant destroy, or a super cheap one you wont care if he does. Truman tore up so many as a puppy, he got an old fleece blanket as a bed for a few years. Finally upgraded to something like this. Hadn't splurged on him in a while since he was a pup, so I pulled the trigger on something like this last year
drove by a store named gordman's that was going out of business and cleaned out their big dog bed shelf i think i got 11 total that i'm sure will last a year or so but at $7 a piece i won't be upset
Layla has a K9 Ballistics bed for her crate. Kaiser has a sealy pillowtop in his. They both have these in the den that match the couch: http://www.bowsers.com/pet-beds/donut-beds.html/ Oh, and the thousand dollar chaise their mother bought "to refinish" that won't fit anywhere else in the house.
Beast has a $20 "bed" that we got from Ross in his crate. Flash has a nicer one that my son bought her. He has her trained to go to sleep when he does and I swear she doesn't leave the bed during the night. He takes her down for the last time about 11 and she is good till I take her in a mile walk about 730.
Bought this for Scarlet about a year ago, she loves it. When Teddy got here he took to laying on it as well, so I bought one for him too. Teddy sleeps on it most nights.
Moose has this in the room adjoining the living room, but again, just blankets in his bed because he rips everything else up Maisy (8 lb maltipoo) is on the furniture and sleeps in our bed. Life's not fair for the big guy
My mom got Rowdy this one ~7 years ago when I refused to get him an actual bed. it's lasted well with little wear in that time. http://www.orvis.com/p/deep-dish-dog-bed/2c9b It's also so big that Rowdy and Norman can share it
I feel horrible. Beast had a huge "accident" in his crate last night and ruined his bed. He went pooped twice so I thought he was good to go to sleep. About an hour or so later he started whining in his crate. I thought it was his nightly whining and that he would fall back asleep. Unfortunately he had to go and he couldn't hold it so he went in his crate. I had to throw away his bed. Give him a bath at 1 in the morning. I felt fucking horrible. This is just about as close as you can get to having another kid.
Nymeria had an accident in hers a couple weeks ago. Thankfully (sort of) she backed up to the crate door. So nothing on her bedding, but shit on the carpet.
Millie is going in for her first immiticide injection tomorrow. Please send your good thoughts, prayers, etc. Also, anyone have tips for this time? I'm a nervous wreck. Spoiler: dog tax inside
With Kaiser, the first one wasn't really that bad. The second and third injections (in order) made him much sicker. The third one was just flat out brutal. He was obviously feeling bad and there was really nothing to do. Just make sure that you keep her calm and she'll do fine.
We just pulled this little dude from OCAS. We think he is a Sharpei or Bulldog. They think he has low blood sugar, he kept collapsing. Will be doing some more testing when we pull him. He's so adorable.
I really need to hit the powerball so I can buy a big ass farm and just go around rescuing dogs from shelters. I guess cats too but they have to stay somewhere else.
That sharpei mix is adorable. I love that breed but my family's luck with 2 of them sort of scares me off of them.
that's awesome, I read the article the other day that said they had picked a family in Detroit, had no idea it was SVG. Awesome, love that dude.
My dog is an asshole. Vet put him on some joint supplements, gave me a week's worth to test out. He ate them for that week just fine. I go ahead and buy the $70 bottle. Now the dog won't fucking eat them.
Try making a ball of the pill, some dry food, mixed together with peanut butter. That's what I do to get my stubborn dog to eat pills he isn't interested in eating.
slice of cheese balled around a pill is my go too for medicine if I dont ball it tight enough, she will somehow manage to eat the cheese and leave the pill behind
