Nothing like calling your bestfriend over and getting the bottle opener at the same time. Real clutch when in the pool.
At one point in time I could hand Wyatt cans of beer and he'd go to whoever called him. Then he bit into one and it popped in his mouth so he doesn't deliver anymore.
I'm still working on the "bring me a beer" command. She loves beer as much as I do though, so it hasn't worked yet. Selfish bitch.
Any tips on separation anxiety barking? I came back to my apartment yesterday to discover the new pup (finally named Huckleberry AKA Huck) barking his head off. I figure the behavior will extinguish once he realizes it doesn't do anything. I just feel bad for my neighbors in the meantime. Hopefully it wont be an issue, as I quit work in a couple weeks and will spend 5-6 weeks with him full time training. But I mostly want to be a good neighbor and see if there's anything I can do. I make sure he has plenty of toys in his crate, but the only thing that keeps him busy consistently is a bully stick and I don't know if I should leave him alone with that.
After trying everything in the book (thundershirt, noise machines, calming sprays ect) I eventually went with a bark collar. It works.
Got to spend 3 hours with Duke today, really love that dog. He's being adopted in Maine, at least it seems that way, strange situation but the moral of the story is he's fucking awesome. I'll post a few pics but he fell asleep with his head between the e-brake handle and my shift lever in my car, multiple times. Also put his head in my hand and went to sleep.
Anyone ever dealt with a dog that hates water? Is it a hopeless cause? Have tried easing him into the ocean and pool a few times but he absolutely hates it. And me.
My dog is absolutely petrified of water, whether it's a pool or ocean or lake etc. She does like puddles though. I've tried different ways to get her comfortable but no luck. Even baths are a chore.
Hated baths at first but quickly came to accept them as a fact of life. Won't go out in the rain. Hates wet grass and would rather hold it all day rather than go out sometimes. Had him at the beach yesterday and today. Would trot on the edge but the waves freaked him out. Was pretty funny. Put a life vest on him and dropped him in the pool. He did the flailing thing for a while before figuring out the dog paddLe. Still hated it. He's half poodle/cocker so I figured he'd be all about it.
My dad's lab used to. He threw her off the boat once and she started to love it. Now she'll dive off a dock after fish.
i am gonna be in charlotte this weekend and get to see paige for the first time since 4/2. here are some old pictures: visa she loves the blanket you got her
Awesome stuff dude, thank you for what you do with the rescue, it really is mind-boggling the levels of cruelty people will display toward animals.
Hound dog can't get up without me lifting him. Vet confirmed we are out of options. 10 am tomorrow. Was really hoping he'd make it to his birthday. (4th of July). Only thing I knew to do was throw a bunch of deer sausage on the egg and let him go to town. All 110 lbs of him slept next to me in bed for 7 years until I got married. Guess I can just put his bed down on my side tonight.
fuck man, im sorry for you be there with him, it will be tough, but he will be scared and needs you to be strong by his side when my last pup was put down and all i can say is i am glad i was there to rub his head as he went to sleep
Any help would be appreciated crew. Hey, I'm supporting this fundraiser, please have a look - 'Dylan Engebretsens' Diabetes Dog' https://dm2.gofund.me/dylan-engebretsen-diabetes-dog Fits for dog thread.
Owen went to UF yesterday to get complete imaging done, but as we feared they were unable to find the hepatic vein again. It looks like he was born without it, so as he grows the body won't be able to get enough blood to the organs, and he will likely die pretty young. Definitely not the news we were hoping for. His foster is a vet though, so he will get the best care as long as he hangs in there.
Its that time again, these pups are about 7 weeks old, they are cattle dog/heeler/something mixes (mom was cattle/heeler, only thing we know about dad is he had floppy ears). They are going to go fast, so if you know anyone who is interested let me know and have them fill out an app http://www.thepixelfund.org/dog-adoption-application-2017.html They will be in Florida for another 4-5 weeks i my guess, then will go up to Maine.
How you doing dude? Sending good thoughts, hang in there, you gave him the best life he could have ever wanted.
Appreciate it. It was rough. I'm out of town for a wedding and yesterday I started to text our dog sitter to check on him. He felt terrible though. Glad he doesn't have to deal with that anymore. I hate cancer.
Yep, i'm glad he's not in pain anymore. It will get easier, you'll never forget him but you will see him in whatever dog you bring into your life next.
EDIT - Don't know why Amazon links embed as MEDIA now, can anyone see them? These little ones foster mom asked me to go to the group's storage unit to look for pee pads and dry puppy food. I went and we had none of either. We are critically short of both items, so that cost falls on the fosters. If you are so inclined, we could really use both, as we all know that 6 week old puppies mainly eat and pee/poop. Donations have been kind of slow so far, so we could use any help we can get. These are the best deals on Amazon, and they can be sent to the following address - Pixel Fund 2517 Shannon Rd Orlando, Fl 32806-576 Thank you all in advance, lots of love to TMB dog crew.
Our dog has recently discovered toilet water. Prefers it over the water that's in his bowl, so now we have to remember to put all the lids down. Wife said he went to every toilet in the house after eating this morning.
