This is why municipal shelters and rescue groups need help and how they get so overfilled. this shit happens every week it seems. Would love to have 5 minutes alone with the people responsible for this shit.
https://m.facebook.com/groups/156426461079012?view=permalink&id=1385727271482252 Here's the first video of this report, when they first got there, approximately 60 dogs all left in the woods with no food or water.
Beaux has been sick for nearly a week and a half now. Not sure what's wrong with him as he isn't limping and didn't indicate pain when the vet checked him last week. He had his yearly visit at the beginning of the month and his blood work came back clean at the time. It's pretty sad coming home and your dog is so out of sorts he won't even get up to greet you.
Yeah my bad meant out. I took him for his 4th set on Sunday. Was just wondering if it would be cool to take him out tonight. But you're probably right o should wait
My husky, Bullet, escaped our back yard last night. Pretty sure he forced his way through the gap between the house and the fence, which I had put old cans in the way of, but he still got through. I took my car out looking for him and my wife had the idea to take our other dog, Sophie, out with her to walk around looking for him. Thank god she took Sophie with her because walking down the street at night with no street lights for some reason Sophie started whining and trying to run to a backyard while they were out. Sure enough Bullet was in the backyard of that house. It is amazing, it was like she knew exactly where her brother was and knew we were looking for him. Without her my wife would have walked right by that house and who knows how long it would have taken to find him.
Sent in a second sample to pathology. Best they can tell is that its a cyst, no mast cells seen. Vet said it runs about 75% that the type of cyst is benign and the definite answer won't be identified unless we have it removed under anesthesia. Said you could play the odds too. Immediate post grad and being poor right now sucks, so I suppose I'll take the odds as is for the time being and hope it's not malignant.
Just kidding I've elected to get surgery done. Couldn't live with myself if it turns out to be something and spreads
My mom has been wanting a puppy. Loves Golden Retrievers but wanted something a little smaller, hypoallergenic, and with less shedding. My sisters and I got her a mini Labradoodle Goldendoodle for her birthday. Spoiler
Dogs at our friends house we evacuated to. There were 3 toddlers in the house. The second one they both just went upstairs by themselves to get away from the craziness.
Zombie Dump Truman never drools but have noticed him doing it sporadically the few days. Otherwise he's acting completely normal. Any concern? Drooling out of nowhere is just weird.
Hey y'all, Sebastian is still looking for his forever home, he has an application up in Maine but his foster mom is really worried that the trip up there would be too hard on him. He needs to go to a home with another dog, he gets really depressed when he's all by himself. Any Dog Thread fam in FL or GA ready to take on another one? When we first took him in he was so scared he wouldn't even stand up, he just hugged the ground and kinda scooted forward. I was with him all day yesterday at an event and he was awesome, playing with other dogs, giving love and showing off. At one point we put him in the pen with one of our puppy litters and this was the result -
Same. to the point of being annoying especially when cooking I'll move to different spots in the kitchen and he gets up just to lay 3 inches behind me, 2 feet from where he was... don't wanna miss anything. Also is a huge bathroom creep both when pooping or showering. he's scared the shit out of me/chicks before poking his head in the side of the shower curtain just to check on things or opening a not-quite-shut bathroom door when someone's sitting on the toilet.
as a team husky member I can tell you how it plays out if you didn't have that other dog: you and 3 others look around your neighborhood on foot and in cars from midnight til about 4am, multiple calls to the security guard/neighborhood patrol, go home to figure out wtf to do next, and wake up at 6am with someone that's 4.5 miles away calling to say "your husky just walked through my back door into their kitchen while I were cooking breakfast and laid on the floor to wait for scraps, I hope you don't mind I gave him some bacon" I wish there was a way to see a path of the steps he took. This is the street route
friend of mine's Lab/Golden 3yo jumped off a boat going 30mph last weekend. Got hit by the front of the boat and then the propeller. ripped open his chest and shattered one leg as well as knocking out about half of his teeth. Boat broke down in the process and they sat around for ~30min waiting for someone to come over to help out. Finally got to emergency vet and they gave him a pretty bleak outlook. Heart stopped twice on the operating table, infections, etc. Somehow survives and is adapting to 3 legged life. She dropped a good chunk of money on the process so if anyone has some walkin-round money to donate by all means: https://www.gofundme.com/4fxv18g already got ~$2900 out of the $3500 goal in 2 days. Good people out there. One Knight I haven't kept up that well with your adoption processes but you ship your dogs to owners? Buddy just moved into a house with a good yard and wants to adopt a GSD (or GSD mix) if you come across one that's reasonably young pref < 1 yr
pretty traumatizing experience for girl and dog. she sat in the boat holding his chest closed with a towel for 30 minutes while they were trying to flag down boats to come help. can't fucking imagine that I would have nightmares good friend from Auburn had a pretty crazy experience too where his black lab started wobbling around and just fell over. threw him in the truck and hauled ass to emergency vet and on the way the dog stopped breathing and heart stopped beating for like 2 minutes. said he just started yelling at him to wake up and tried the pushing down on chest I guess like cpr and nothing worked. finally just straight up hit down with his fist where he thought the heart was and the dog came to and ended up making it.
I'll keep an eye out for sure. Depending on where you are we can try to figure out a way to get the dog to you, but we don't ship them to people. What state is your buddy in?
Thanks for asking, signups have been slow but people have only had Irma on the brain for the last two weeks. We just got the logo finalized so we are making progress, things will pick up, this has been a crazy busy month with events. Race is December 10th.
I am running a 10k either the 10th or 11th. I’ll sign up in November (if that’s cool) if not then October to that and run the virtual while running the one here. If that’s cool.
Any support is awesome man, I really appreciate it. Ours is actually just a 5K so you can use your halfway split time from your 10K for our virtual race, and I'll get you the shirt, medal and bandana for the pup.
someone in the houston area adopt this thing. https://www.facebook.com/pg/barriodogs/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1656780511000427
Guy I mentioned to OneKnight is from Houston and going back today said he's gonna stop by and give lil man a look. Got some competition though going to look at this guy on Sunday
He will. Going to hate his life for the next 2 weeks, though I'll turn on the AC and get him his favorite ice cream treat at Culvers to help.
thoughts/prayers/etc for the family dog/little brothers 8yo golden Rosco. find out tomorrow if he's got a tumor in his heart that would make them put him down.
First draft of the medal for the 5K. Overall design should stay pretty close, positioning of the text and such will get a few adjustments -
