Ours goes back on real dog food tonight after one day of not eating, and then an ultra bland small portion diet. I imagine there will be some serious scarfing of dinner. And hopefully, no more pooping puddles. In the house. Or outside, but definitely not in the house.
He's at Juvie through Christmas, but once he comes back this little guy will be our first foster for Pixel. This is Bart, I was the first one to meet him when he came down from Wakulla, so I got to name the litter. I went with Simpsons characters. His sisters Lisa and Marge, and brother Millhouse are all with us now too. Can't wait to see him again! Dad is a full blood black lab, mom is a lab/hound mix. He looks so much like my dog Dixie that I grew up with.
Found a dog walking around my neighborhood. Gonna get her checked for a chip but highly doubting she has one. Wondering if shes not, my sisters interested in keeping her but in no way could afford big vet bills if she has issues. Anyone know if humane or somewhere that could check her out or whats the best way to go about this?
Also if you’d want to keep it a physical exam at the vet isn’t very expensive. That’s likelt what the shelter would do. Probably heart worm and parasites too.
Gonna source this to you guys. Would this be considered inhumane or animal cruelty and if so, who would I contact? I took this at Best Buy in Pensacola. Just happened to drive by and slammed on the brakes in the middle of the parking lot when I noticed. One Knight dump
If there is a VCA near you they offer free first exam. They will also check for a chip if you don’t look like you can afford a $4000 English Bulldog
I need to know more info, my dogs would love nothing more than to go on a hunt and the best they get is a walk around the neighborhood. Most working dogs want to work and it can help a lot of behavior issues to let them do what they were designed to do. I also don't know what he is doing at this store, could be a quick emergency pickup for his dogs or for the hunt. Now if this guy went grocery shopping and just happen to have his dogs with him and he is in there for more than a few mins then fuck this guy.
No. People kennel there dogs for whatever reason. Tons of people around where I live have cages built into their trucks because it’s how they tote their dogs around to hunt etc.
as much as I abhor this kind of thing for dogs, i don't think there's anything cruel about it. Its actually much better than the people driving around with their dog loose in the bed of the pickup.
Hey dude, I'm getting ready to send out the shirts and medals from the 5K, I feel like you told me this before but I can't find it now, what shirt size for you and the wife? Thanks!
Chloey got a new bed for Christmas. As a younger pup she would not lay in one. In her older age she has recognized the merits of plush.
Ended up finding a $200 flight so I decided to keep the dogs’ boarding reservation and fly home rather than drive 22hrs with the pups. I made the wrong choice.
Opening presents is probably my dog's favorite thing. He thinks every present is for him so he sticks his head into the bag or his face is inches away from someone opening a present..
Two friends reunited on this Christmas day. Wrigley and Roscoe have only met a few times in their 5/6 years of life but always love getting a chance to meet back up.
There is a dog that has started to hang around the house today. It has a collar but it won't let me get close enough to see if it has any info on a tag and runs away if you get within like 10 feet of it. Should I just call animal control? It's a well-behaved dog but we can't take it in (even temporarily given it runs away), but I fear it won't last long outside given it's below 20 degrees out and I think it may be abandoned by the way it is acting.
Best idea would be to take it to a shelter rather than call city animal control if you can help it. But if you can’t lure it close to you then you may have no choice.
Animal control just came over. Dog would run away from them too so they suggested seeing if we could put out some of our cat food in the back yard inside the fence then get him locked up in there. Able to get him in there so they are supposed to come back later to try to get him now.
Well looks like the dog has no tags. Hopefully, if it's not an abandoned dog, it's chipped then so it can return to its owner. Dog loved that damn cat food, or at least was so hungry that it was going to chow down on anything with the quickness.
Here is the dog. Animal control just came and picked him/her up. Said he will drop it off at the Humane Society up the road and if no one claims it in 10 days then it will go up for adoption. This dog should have no problems getting back home or finding a new one! Even if it does, it's a no kill shelter as well.
Was just glad we were able to get it rescued fairly quickly. Fucking freezing here today, forecasted high today is only 26!
What do you think about this situation? We saw on facebook that a friend had a friend who needed to get rid of a 4 year old minidaschound. Apparently this older couple, like 75 year old, got the dog as a puppy a few years ago. Then the guy died and the woman moved in with her son. Unfortunately, the place where the son lived did not allow dogs, so they were looking for a home for the dog. We ended up taking the dog. When they dropped him off, the guy mentioned that if we hadn't taken him, he was probably going to just take him to a shelter. Essentially, the dog would have most likely (maybe?) been killed. So we felt good about that. His mom was with him when he dropped the dog off, and she didn't handle it well, crying and whatnot. But they left, and now we had our dog. We've had him about a year now. The other day I get a call. It's the guy. He said he had stopped by to see the dog, just to check up on him and see how things were, but we were not home at the time. I was like ehhhh ok. He asked if he could maybe stop by with his mom and just say hello. I said sure, I guess that would be ok. He said they had just moved into a new apartment, and he's allowed to have dogs, but he understands that it's our dog now, but, if we ever did want to or need to get rid of him, they'd love to take him back. So I'm sort of feeling like - fuck off, you gave him to us, and now you are pretty obviously just trying to get him back. You haven't visited or called for a year, and now that you live somewhere that you can have dogs you just want to "check up on him"? And by the way, if we hadn't taken your dog, he'd probably be dead, so there is that. And it's a terrible idea to bring his elderly mother who considers the dog her son to just say hi. Just really a bad idea all around, I think.
