you have camera on him?
No, but he's been shaking like crazy lately and whining more than usual the past month or so when he knows we're leaving.. Also losses his mind when I get back. Im just going to base it off that.
Gotcha. Mine has trouble in cars, she never liked them but we were in a wreck with her in the car and she really hates it. She is so worked up after a car ride she will pass out almost immediately when she gets out and into a house
You said it tastes bad for her? I got some beef flavored stuff that's for dogs..
That was Why?Pokes
But cats are so much harder to medicate
I like to get my pups high cause they ain’t go no jobs and they ain’t got shit to do
Everyone say hello to Duke Silver. He is a 13 week old yellow (more red) lab. His current hobbies include disobeying his owner and flashing his junk at people.
Do we have a consensus winner for best heartworm and flea/tick medication? Currently using Heartgard Plus and K9 Advantix II. We're in Florida so anything that also handles mosquitoes would be a plus.
I'm using Simparica and interceptor. I was using Trifexis (not for ticks and can't be used with the others) until I found a tick on her 3 times in 4 months.
Bravecto is the best flea/tick medicine that I’ve seen
lasts 90 days per pill and has the sams texture as Heartgard
Heartgard and nexgard here
Trifexis for me
Seresto and heartgard
Trifexis and haven't had any issues. Paisley is 4 and a half.
Time flies... it’s been a year, since I lost Oscar. While impossible to replace, Luca has been a great addition to the family
Never knew they were water dogs
This was after 15 to 20 minutes for non stop frisbee. He won't stop unless I make him.
Its been hitting me more and more that Abby is getting up there in age. She came up limping a little after playing fetch. Time to go a little easier on her now
Closing in two weeks, then two months of remodeling, then honeymoon, then... all the doggos.
Don’t think there is a cat thread, just wanted to vent here.
1st pet ever, rescued a kitten hanging around my office about 2 months ago. Got him alI his shots and named him Cecil. Bring him to work with me 2-3 times a week, office is attached to about 50,000 square feet of office space. He loves climbing up in the racking and gallops at full speed across the warehouse. Thought it would be good for him since he’s in the apartment most of the time. Love the little guy.
Was leaving about 2 hours ago, and called out to him to come and just heard him meowing. Found him at the base of one of the tall metal racks, blood on his snout and back legs kicking he couldn’t stand on them. It was horrible man. Think he fell about 26 feet, at the animal hospital right now they’re doing xrays now. I feel terrible. Don’t know why I just wanted to share
Picture from a few days ago on the way to work
Hope he's ok. That's awful. Ive seen a cat thread pop up fyi.
Gif in spoiler
That's something else
damn sorry to hear that and I hope he can recover.
Also just wanted to let you know there IS a cat thread for the kittahs.
That's horrible Whammy hopefully the kitten makes a full recovery. Keep us updated.
Say hello to Blue.
That and the description of Belgians as modern day velociraptors is how we ended up calling him Blue. He's a Belgian malinois, Dutch shepherd mix.
And Blue has some paws on him for 6 weeks old.
i like your pants
My 2 year old loves when I put the Puppy Bowl on. So I've seen the Puppy Bowl like 4 times so far.
Keep it in your pants buddy.
Malinois are pretty common service dogs, aren't they? They’re like diet German Shepherds.
I think German shepherds are more like diet Malinois. Malinois are intense.
I’ve got a buddy (former SEAL) who has a Doberman that only understands German. It’s the craziest shit, but he’s the most well trained dog I’ve ever met.
My buddy who is a cop only trains his dogs in German too. Said it keeps people from attempting to confuse the dog by giving the orders.
Such beautiful dogs, can’t remember the last time I’ve seen one around though.
There was a puppy one in the training class I was taking with the greyhound. Beautiful dog.
Yes they are common service dogs. In fact Blue's grandfather is apparently a pretty known police dog in Clarksville.
But also this.
I meant from a size perspective.
Yea I think they are generally a little smaller but apparently dutch shepherds get the same size as germans and that's what his mom is.
You are correct. They are definitely smaller by standards. In terms of temperament they are very similar as well. Any working dogs you see have insanely high drive which makes them ideal for their jobs and generally speaking, not the best pets. That comes with caveats of course, but if you have one of those dogs with the high *prey* drive you absolutely need to give them a job, exercise, etc because if they get bored they will fuck shit up.
On the German, most police/military dogs are trained through either Schutzhund/IPO training standards which is sort of one in the same. I used to be involved in the training/field when I was younger and some of the stuff has merged a bit in terms of governing body, etc...... Long story short, that's where the German comes into play.
TLDR, my dogs are bilingual and are fluent in not listening to German or English but they certainly know a lot of words. However they are pets and I selected them as such so they are only "worked" to listen to wife/kids and that's about the extent of it for them. They are both pets with low drive but still extremely protective/loyal. Their instinctive ability always absolutely amazes me and I've been around it for well over half my life. They constantly are taking an inventory of where everyone is and will attempt to herd constantly. Anyhow, if you have a "working" or "herding" dog, that might provide some insight to their psyche. Fascinating stuff to me, I'll stop now, carry on and more dog pics pls. Thanks.
our Husky is starting a bad habit of wanting to snip when you grab his collar to guide him somewhere. what's the easiest way to break this bad habit? there's got to be more than "no" or is there?
edit: he's 8 months old and just started it
Milly 7 months later
Burns the Longhaired Dachshund got robbed at Westminster Dog Show tonight.
