Would be sweet if they weren’t vicious killers. Gonna gonwith the fence rec from the tigers/huskers turncoat. Gbr
That's what we had to do for our dogs back home. Gated off a room. Gave the cats somewhere to go hide when they needed to, as well as kept the dumbasses out if the cat box.
Yea that's what I told the fiancee. She does like the idea of one ear not standing up, says it gives him personality.... The trainer said he's doing real well so that's great news.
I’m waiting for our coward doggo to legit fuck with the cat instead of posturing and learn a valuable lesson. She’s a good girl but she tries to command a room and she’s in for a rude awakening.
Did a board and train with our younger one (left) for two weeks after the incident with the cat and am doing private lessons with the older one (right). The younger one came back and it is truly amazing how well she listens now and the older one is catching on pretty quick as well. Still have a ways to go, but it has been very encouraging.
Do yall know of any big dog rescue groups in the SE? A friend of mine's roommate may be looking to put his mastiff/rotty mix into an adoption program. He said he doesn't have time for the dog and doesnt want to neglect him.
He in Nashville? If so, my wife volunteers at Proverbs 12:10. There is an Operation Education in Murfreesboro. And there is a Big Fluffy Dog. Agape, Music City Mutts.
Everything is growing again (Florida) and my two Pit mixes are already starting to get the same skin allergy issues that we dealt with last year. The best meds for the situation are ridiculously expensive. Looking into getting a damn onesie so they can play outside without their skin breaking out in rashes..anyone have recommendations on remedies or solutions?
my vet told me about a milligram a pound of benadryl for paige (2 pills) every 12 hours. haven't tried it yet but if it really flares up, i will
Nice tag. Our's says "oh fuck, I'm lost" have thought maybe that's too aggressive. But the fiance picked it out so
tbqh Benadryl is like putting a bandaid on a bullet wound for major allergy issues and its a mg per pound. so a 25 lb dog would get 1 pill
My pitt mix will get a shot of Cytopoint every 2-3 months and it is awesome. She will go from itching and licking all night to basically nothing. I wish it would last longer, but it really does work for her.
yeah it makes every trip to the vet an absolute shitshow where she’s barking and trying to play with every single dog she sees
Right around $50 for the shot. Doesn’t include the vet fee which im sure will vary. You can buy online and administer yourself, but I just feel better going into the vet for it, especially since it is a shot.
Sub q injections are super simple (if your dog is used being messed with). If this is long term thing I'd think about doing it yourself.
First time poster in this thread. I am moving into a new house next month (from an apartment). My girlfriend’s dog has been in an apartment for the last few years, since she adopted him. Any good tips to make the move easy on the dog? Hoping to avoid having him pee inside as much as possible. Right now I usually take him outside every few hours, and he sleeps in the room with us (door closed) and he’ll wake me up kind of like a baby to go outside (or when he’s bored) and I usually just let him out to avoid any issues. He’s also pretty small/lazy so typically stays around us laying on a couch or the floor. She’s said whenever she visits her parents he’ll pee in their basement a lot. This could more so have to do with the fact there are multiple dogs there and he’s not as supervised.
He’s not puppy. Presumably he doesn’t have any health issues? Letting him wake you up in the middle of the night to go sniff blades of grass is setting yourself up for a 10-15 years of sleep deprivation and misery. Try crating him in the evenings.
Yeah, this is my fear. My girlfriend is a very heavy sleeper, I wake up basically to anything. Sometimes it’s him jumping on the bed waking me up, others I’ll just wake up because I’m a horrible sleeper as is. At that point I think “well I’m already up might as well take him outside”, basically for my own peace of mind. I would prefer to crate him, he was really bad for awhile in his crate (adopted/separation issues), but I have taken it upon myself to try and train him. Which has led to him being 100 times more behaved when we leave him in there and go somewhere. Maybe he’ll be OK sleeping in there now, I just have to convince her to let me try it.
Do positive association with the crate. Feed him in there. Give him treats in there, a bone, etc....... I work from home and there isn't a day in the week I don't get up to go to the bathroom and my male is sleeping in his with the door open. It's just a comfortable spot for him.
That’s what I try to do now, and it’s helped with him staying in the crate alone when we leave. I think my GF just feels bad that he sits in his crate while we’re at work, then would have to go back in the crate a few hours later for the night.
Yeah mine pretty much stay in the crate with the door open when I’m home. Connor will come out for a bit and lay on the floor next to the couch but usually goes back in.
