Livid to say the least. The place was recommended to me, and apparently reputed. They have a very organized website, a doggy cam, and are supposedly more involved than your day to day kennel. Who knows what happened, but to not mention it is unprofessional at best. She also hasn't been acting herself at all today, and it just pisses me off more when I see the new blood stain on her bed or her licking her wounds. Here's another 1 star review of the place, and had I seen it, I'd have never considered taking here there.
Try asking the greyhound group you rescued her from. When i had mine people were always asking and offering dog sitting to other greyhound owners. Also i had amazingly good luck with Rover. Nymeria loved her dog sitter.
Missed this yesterday somehow. My bad. She's 58 pounds, and pretty tall. When I was picking her up, the guy handing them out out was like "Dang! That's a female??" Her back comes above my hand if we are walking side by side. (I'm 5'11) The owner of the rescue place offers to do it, but she lives 30 minutes away. It's definitely what I will fallback on if I don't find one near me. Next time, I'll be more thorough about looking through reviews of the place rather than trusting others.
At the place I used to work, we would inspect every single dog, every single day. If we let some dog go home with a wound and didn't see it, we would all look like assholes. That place you went sounds like no one gives a damn.
Layla once stepped on a nail that was protruding from one of the obstacles in the play area where we board her and they took her to our vet and covered the cost. I’d be furious if some place tried to conceal an injury.
I walked into the room he was sitting on his bed with his head down and I am like “what the fuck did you do now” .
I've had really good success with Rover. Found a guy who basically turned his backyard into a dog park and used to work with animals. He basically does it full time now and my dog doesn't ever get put in a pen or whatever. Just has a house to stay in and can lie down wherever she pleases. She did get injured here once from just playing with another dog but I got a call and text (with photo) immediately. So it was unfortunate but happens. Hell it happens to my kid at daycare too.
Mabel started throwing up and shitting uncontrollably right after Christmas. Took her in and they gave her an anti-nausea shot and fluids under the skin in her back...which made her look like a camel for about two hours
Let my dog off the leash towards the end of the walk and that asshole walks deep into someone's front yard and takes a shit right in front of their ring doorbell. So they have some good video of me shaking my head and picking up a turd. And then the old bastard walks right up to the front door and sniffs around for a minute while ignoring my calls. Had to laugh at the situation. Too old to punish, but that fucker knew what he was doing.
Would you like taking a shit while someone watches over you? Dude is not dumb, he wants to take a nice shit on his own time. He probably went to the front door because he thought he could grab a newspaper while doing his deed. Smart
Yeah we think so we got her at the Houston Humane society and they didn’t know for sure but that’s obviously what she mostly is...not sure if anything else
Not trying to freak you out, but my cousin's flat coat had a terrible accident where its stomach turned inside out, so anything you can do to prevent or prepare...
My old vet told me that bloat was sort of common among larger body dogs Mine was a labrador retriever and it turned out that's not what was making her sick, but it was the first I had heard of bloat Also, I have switched vets since then partly because I lost trust in that vet
GSDs are probe to it. Layla had a preventative gastropexy done when she was spayed. Basically, they graft the stomach to the abdominal wall so it can’t flip.
Yep it's any barrel chested dog. My lab about gave me a heart attack one night when she puked a few times immediately after eating and layed around panting.
Macho is a ridgeback Jack Russell terrier mix. Got him from the pound when he was 8 weeks and he turns 3 next month. My first dog.
Lol I get that every time. No idea. But his temperament is awesome and he’s really obedient so I wouldn’t have it any other way. Haven’t seen another mix like him yet
Bonnie pretty much refuses to go to the bathroom in her yard and will lie in the driveway until I take her for a walk down the block, off the leash of course. She definitely has a favorite couple of yards but the neighbors all have ring doorbells and yet never say anything. I love that dog and dropped her off with my sister for the weekend. I refuse to board her with anyone other than my family and friends or rover.
I started doing rover a little over a year ago to pay for Bonnie’s TPLO surgery. Surgery has long since been covered and I really like doing it...Bonnie not so much. Spoiler 5 star host BTW Here’s a picture of Bonnie being a good yet annoyed host! She’s the one in the back Bonus picture from her gotcha day!
My mom and dad lost one of their dogs today. He had apparently come down with some kind of viral infection and basically stopped eating right after Christmas. Other than not eating he didn't show many signs. Was alert, still had energy, was only a little lethargic. He had been at the vet since then and started eating a little bit but not much and they let him pass today. That little dog has been my dad's buddy for 8 years while my mom traveled like 8 months of the year for work. My dad has never been emotional and never really an animal lover but I could tell in his voice that this one got to him.
d Me and my best friend rescued a beagle that had been abused years ago and about the time she started trusting people again she got knocked up by his 100 pound yellow lab. Poor little girl looked like she got swallowed a football sideways.
it’s fucking tough, hard to really explain but it is not comparable to losing a human friend or family. It’s like losing a part of your daily life but more since you lose your buddy as well. hard times but it gets better.
A couple of photos from today. Redford and Sky. This thread is a major reason I have them. Can’t believe it’s been over nine years
I love that everyone appears to have their preference in dog breeds. I can’t imagine having anything other than a bulldog sure you guys feel the same way about your dogs. Gorgeous dogs NYGator
Thanks, I love bulldogs also. Two of my best friends have them and they are so smart and affectionate.
