My aunt raised them and I’ve always felt bad for the birthing process.
I’ve been somewhat lucky 2 have been healthy for the most part only Flash has had health issues but she is the sweetest best girl ever and I can’t imagine not having her. I fully understand that someone who might not understand what they might be getting themselves into might have taken her to the pound. Bulldogs just fit my lifestyle perfectly. I like bigger dogs but living in a condo in an urban area I wouldn’t feel right having an extremely active doggo. My wife wants a Husky so we can take running but I’d feel horrible if I missed a run.
I hear ya. Yeah they’re great dogs but I always feel guilty for the health challenges. Y’all are great parents and providers for your pups though
Unless you get lucky, the suggestions provided are typically not found on at a rescue. Golden doodles, golden retrievers and to a lesser degree labs (unless you go lab/pit mix) are typically not found at a rescue.
Just go to the rescue shelter, see what they have. If its a good one, their available dogs change every 1-3 weeks. Puppies goes fast. A mut might be perfect for you. Focus more on size, age, and temperament and less on breed.
There are absolutely rescues dedicated to Doodles.
Got both of my labs at shelters. There seem to be quite a few golden specific rescues too.
My lab has allergies
Vet suggested expensive dog food trial thing, we did that and it seemed to clear up, Vet then suggested going back to regular food and see if it came back, it didn't for like 6 months,
So we thought it must be seasonal skin/airborne allergies, but now won't go away for like 6 months
Just started a trial of dino-vite food supplement
Anybody else have experience with dino-vite or allergies in dogs in general?
my dog is on Natural Balance lamb and brown rice food plus a daily Apoquel pill
but she is allergic to everything almost
also shelters across the country are seeing a sharp intake in dogs and cats coming in these last couple of weeks
like these people just hoarded animals during COVID or something
I hate people.
I think there is going to be a lot of back to work regret for new pet owners. Will cause this spike.
Picture of the good boy
Our golden doodle has bad seasonal allergies/sensitive skin and he had an allergy a few weeks back. We boarded him for the first time for 5 days and when we picked him up yesterday, he had these weird itchy bumps in his right ear. The left only had 1 but he keeps shaking his ears and scratching the right one all day. No other bumps or skin issues on the rest of his body.
We have a vet appt Friday to check it out and couldn’t find similar bumps on google images. Does anyone have any ideas as to what they are?
That's probably a yeast infection. Looks like you caught it early.
Are retractable leashes bad?
unless you have a Doodle
Wh... why would they be?
Usually lazy, stupid people use them
Don’t get a retractable leash.
Your in ca? Don’t get a husky b/c the heat
wanna dog that runs
You don’t have control the dog does
The turtle incident
not a fan of pointers. If I get a dog to go running I’d probably get an Am Staff.
had one a while ago. 90 pounds of pure love and muscle who I’d take on my runs. Living in a rough area going on early morning runs wasn’t the safest thing to do without him.
#3 would be Groot 100%. No way my big lug wouldn’t snap that thing when he frolics (read fights) grass. It’s been an in going joke that tall (Unmowed lawns) are his mortal enemy the way he appears to fight them. BTW I do mean just unmowed not “tall grass” which I don’t let him go into.
Not afraid to say I stick my nose up to retractable leash users
Them and dentist oh not to mention the (Seinfeld reference which I won’t be making).
I thought we were friends.
Highly recommend fostering seniors. They are one of our favorites to foster, it can be hard at the end but they are usually so chill and so grateful to be somewhere other than the shelter.
A lot of times they are well trained too, because they come to the shelter after their owner passes or whatever.
Yes its hard to see them go downhill, but the love they give and knowing that you are giving them a safe and loving place at the end is totally worth it.
G is sick and wanted to come to my office while I do some online training stuff. She fell asleep in her chair but kept falling out. He laid next to her to keep her propped up.
Just went and picked out this guy today. Taking him home in 3 weeks and cannot wait. 5 week old full Siberian husky. Already settled on the name Drago, after Ivan Drago since my folks have a boxer named Apollo after Apollo Creed. Figured I’d continue the tradition.
My dog has an uncanny ability to shit in the one yard where someone is outside
My soon to be son in law came over today. We share a love of Bulldogs. It was funny because my wife tries to make fun of me and Groot like my daughter ties to make fun of him and his bully. Our answer is should we feel bad because we love our dogs and they love us?
Haha my dog loves to shit with an audience. He will pull me close to someone’s door or an open window every walk.
Throwback Saturday, meet Rocky and Spunky. We rescued them from the Colorado River near the lovely town of Blythe,CA. Spunky, the small guy stayed with us and Rocky was adopted by our neighbors.
I love having a dog again. Hadn’t had one since growing up and recently got a puppy. Sure, waking up in the middle of the night is inconvenient, but 100% worth it 100% of the time.
My biggest problem is reinforcing behaviors that I know I shouldn’t. A few weeks ago, the pup was peeing in the crate in the middle of the night, so we made adjustments and I’d also get up at the first noise. Pup has now learned to complain around 4:45am every day, and I come running. The past few days, the wife has told me to ignore her, and when I do the pup is fine. I realize I’m being trained, but resisting is the hard part.
This little guy turned 3 today. Gonna stop by the local mom and pop dog treat shop and pick him up something nice.
Small for 3
Sully turned 1 yesterday and did NOT like his hat.
My girlfriend and I, along with everyone who adopted his siblings, are in a Facebook group and are having a meetup with some of his siblings this Sunday.
Sure, we can get a mini horse but he can NOT get on the furniture!
2 months later...
Fucker has the nerve to look at me like "Fuck you wake me up for?"
neither look very happy with you, lol.
"woke us up for a picture, could have at least given us a treat."
All right, I've given in and looking to accept a new dog into our house. I miss not having a dog around, they really are the best.
Got feeders out to adopt this pupper. Apparently an American Bulldog/Lab mix. Idk, cute af tho
100% would pet
