I’m so sorry Carl
Great Dane is mine
Had a pit mix that was sweetest, most well behaved dog of I’ve ever had (the shelter believed she got beat up the first year of her life).
This is Schatzy. She's 4 years old and only recently started to hate loud noises.
Sorry texasraider and Carl Brutananadilewski.
Was excited to take the pup to the vet this morning for her last round of shots, so now she can be free to do whatever without fear of parvo. Before arriving at the vet's office, I texted my wife something to the effect of, "remember how the first time you took the puppy to the vet, she took a shit in your car (in her cage) on the way home?"
Well the pup got very excited and worked up while we were at the vet, and on the 4 minute ride back to the house she managed to shit in the backseat of my SUV. While I had a seat cover over the seats, she still managed to get shit on one of the doors. Apparently she also stepped in the poo, because when I parked and got out of the car at the house, she jumped from the backseat to the front and smeared shit all over the center console and driver's seat. She then got shit on me and my work clothes while I was carrying her inside to find a towel. To top it all off, it was pouring rain outside during all of this, so that made cleaning my car more difficult than normal and I had to balance whether I wanted to damage my car doors by leaving them/windows open in the rain vs. not wanting to puke from the smell. Looking back at the picture I took makes me shudder.
I look forward to using an old toothbrush to clean dog shit out of the crevices of my car door tonight.
Pictures of the aftermath?
Make sure to use the wife’s toothbrush
That is some randomly placed shit
Was she spinning in circles while she did it?
It was super quick; the damage was done in a matter of seconds. I don't really know how she get it both on the car door and near the other side of the seat. But yeah, I'm guessing she had to have spun in a circle in order to spread it as far and wide as she could.
Typically, when she shits she also walks (basically, she's aiming at the ground but also walking on her tippy toes, if that makes sense), leaving a trail of poo all around the yard. I'm guessing she continued doing that but also decided to do turn around mid-shit.
So it looks like pending a home visit, Mack the Cockapoo will be coming home with me.
My OG Stuart. Be 10 in a couple months.
CBD oil helpful during fireworks?
Yes for ours
I just wrote a long story about my night at the emergency vet but realized y'all don't really want to hear it. I'll say this though, when it comes to your loved ones in the hospital never worry about being the unreasonable annoying dog dad. Sometimes its just what you have to do to make sure that your real bff gets the appropriate care.
Ended up having TPLO done at a competent vet hospital in early February.
Running after a ball last night, same yelp, same limp on the other leg. Vet just confirmed, she was impressed by my accurate diagnosis. Now we’ll have a matched set of titanium knees and be ready to roll for the second half. He’s 7 and should hopefully have a good 7 more in him.
Drago update: I love this dog
Drago looks like a runner.
wes tegg got a new college fandom #North Carolina State Wolfpack Tobias
3 weeks later and back at the vet after 3 straight days of being sick. Wife is with him. X-ray of stomach shows whatever was in his stomach has doubled in size.
scheduling the rainbow bridge for Friday, I am a fucking mess right now.
Fuck, man. I’m so sorry.
Shit dude, sorry.
I'm so sorry.
I’m so sorry man
Rip, little fella. Made papa proud on this day
First summer with our golden retriever. Holy hell does our dog shed. Every other day i rotate doing a deep brushing and running our roomba.
Our last dogs hair (pit/lab mix) was the type that got stuck in sweaters but never needed brushing. This is like rolling tumble weeds throughout our house.
I'm so sorry a.tramp
We rescued a lab mix 7 years ago. She started limping a couple days ago. Took her to the vet this morning and she has bone cancer. It’s already spread and the vet gave us some mild pain killers to make her comfortable. Vet said 3 months max but probably sooner. Really sucks. Great dog and has been such a big part of our family for the last 7 years. Sorry for the buzz kill post but wanted to reinforce the “hug your doggos” comment. Taking some comfort in all the great things we’ve done with her the last 7 years. Been to a lot of parks, beaches, pools, lakes, rivers, and farms. Many golf cart rides. We’ve decided to have a party for her and invite all her neighborhood doggy friends. Let me know any other suggestions to make her time more comfortable and help my family process. I know it’s a dog so I’m not trying to be overly dramatic but I’ve been a wreck all day. TIA TMB
Just make the last weeks/day the best you can
Condolences Gentlemen. That stinks on both accounts.
Man, this thread is so sad. Sucks to see so many bad news updates.
Feeling really lucky I've got 14 yrs out of my dog
I have to say that this thread is a tough read even after 2 years since losing gus. Even more so with the last could of pages. I'm sorry for all of the losses texasraider Carl Brutananadilewski a.tramp adephoi et al
Camping by the Oregon coast this weekend with some friends. My wife decided our Sheltie would enjoy this. Our other dog, an adopted mix of a couple things, basically said ‘fuck you’ and sprayed her with sand. I wasn’t here for this but I can’t imagine she enjoyed one bit of it. (the other dog is our friends)
I didn’t expect to be ready to adopt so quickly after losing Dodger, but I just felt lonely and started looking at different rescue places. Found a dog that I thought might be a good fit and got really excited. But unfortunately after meeting her, my 17 year old just wasn’t having it.
The foster for that dog called me the next day to tell me about another dog that they had that she thought might be a good fit. That dog came over today and my 17 year old got along great.
So I’ve put the deposit down and I’d like to introduce you to Graham.
My sheltie would absolutely hate that.
I lost both my dogs in a 3 week span in September. It’s just the worst.
Sorry for the couple people in here about to lose the best thing about this damn place we call earth. Doggos are simply the best. Everything about life is better because they are in it.
Fuck, sorry to hear. In the mean time, feed him whatever he likes and do whatever he likes. Took my best little buddy on rides and overstuffed his little ass with chicken nuggets before he went out a few years ago. Fucking cancer.
Copper is dining on raw axis burger for the next 4 meals. And whatever else I happen to have in my hand and he wants.
The timing of this absolutely blows for Scout, our 3yo beagle. We are scheduled to leave for vacation Saturday morning. That was our only driver for holding off until Friday as we do not want him to suffer anymore. We figured if we can comfort him until Friday, we will drop Scout off at the boarder where he will be somewhat distracted. The borders we use do pack care during the day and individual rooms at nights. I didn’t want to pull Cooper out of the house for 2 days and then drop him at the boarder.
It always sucks, it is never good when the time comes.
Thanks everyone for the kind words, thoughts, prayers, and vibes.
so sorry, this sucks
Such a gentle giant. He has been an absolute angel with Levi. We have so many pics of him letting Levi play and love on him.
I’m not crying, ur crying.
