My Bestest Boy. This fool runs to me whenever I’m watching a game and I yell. LOL. He stands next to me like rub my ears and calm down. Love this fool. Like seriously love him. I brush his teeth daily. Pull poop out his ass if I have to. I have 5 kids so I won’t call him my kid but he is as close to it ass can be. Just took him down so this is a picture from about 15 minutes ago.
Was in New York with the family for spring break recently. Came back and this very good boy was so happy when we picked him up from daycare.
sucks having a sick pup and not knowing what to do, how to help. took our girl to the vet today. pretty much had all the symptoms recently. constant diarrhea. some coughing and gravely voice / growls that has ceased. threw up in the early morning (prior to eating). having some issues swallowing all her food. maybe a little lethargic today. Got some probiotics, bland food, and awaiting a stool sample. physical exam was unremarkable. but hate that she isn't feeling herself. hopefully we get it figured out.
How old is she? Sounds like maybe it could be a food allergy. I'm assuming that's the thinking by giving her the bland food?
she is only 15 to 16 months old. we rescued her in December. She has been eating all the same food for months. not sure if it is something she consumed in the yard, or some allergy in treats we give her. I dunno. Hopefully we get answers in the fecal test. otherwise, just gotta hope the probiotic works and she improves. would not want her / us to keep dealing with her feeling like this for the next month
def could be a food allergy. my dog went thru a lot of G.I. issues very similar. Started out with a chicken/rice name brand food. Few months that started flaring up. Then moved to more boujee expensive grain free food, then eventually a year late issues with that arose. Eventually moving to a prescription diet helped alleviate the symptoms. But he also would just get collitis seemingly out of nowhere (probably due to excitement or stress or travel) and our Vet gave us metronidazole for when shit hit the fan, just to settle his stomach dow.
Ya, no idea what it could be. Certainly could be stress induced as we have to board her for some March trips. Did you guys get any insight via fecal testing? tmi below Spoiler Her poop is fairly solid in the morning. As day does on, gets very liquidy. Well beyond normal “Soft” Today has just been a water faucet for each poop. Sucks man. Feel so bad for her. she is eating the stuff I make her (eggs, canned pumpkin) today, but isn’t into her dry food anymore. She devoured all food for 4 months
Might keep an eye on her with puddles or other water sources and clean out your bowls just in case. Also watch out where she goes on walks and if you take her to dog parks as well. They usually get it from contaminated water or fecal matter and all it takes is just them licking their paws after being outside
we don't take her to dog parks, but it certainly may have happen when boarded. given that she has been spraying diarrhea all over the back yard, really great to have to be on the lookout for fecal matter! but yeah, we have cleaned her bowls and what not. fingers crossed
I have a very good boy. We don't have a fence but don't need it as he always does his business and comes right back and waits at the door. Today my wife let him outside but got distracted by the kids and left the house at 8:24 AM. At 9:50 I get a frantic call from my neighbor saying she has my dog! He walked up to her fence and looked sad so she let him him her yard. I was able to let her in through the garage and she put him back. Well I just checked the doorbell cams and I'll be fuckin damned.... that good boy walked to the front door by 8:30 and stayed put right there until 9:45 when the neighbor pulls in. Unreal. I love my Buddy
Romeo loves this glow in the dark ball. It absorbs light, so all you have to do is put it under a flashlight or whatever. and this frisbee are his 2 favs. So two thumbs up for Chuckit!
Was walking green pod dogs tonight at the shelter. Was bringing a dog back into the kennel and noticed a new name was added to the dry erase board. I get excited when there's a new friend to greet. Headed around to the front of the kennels where I could meet 'Sadie' and as I come around the corner I see she has a cone on, terror in her eyes, multiple shaved spots usually done for surgeries, then I finally notice the freshly amputated leg. Night ruined.
She was feeling better today. She warmed up at the front of the kennel and gave me some tail wags as I fed her some cheese. After about 10 minutes of talk she let me walk around back and get her out through the guillotine door. The other day post surgery she wouldn't come anywhere near me. We did a single lap around the building instead of the standard two, three legged walking will take time to figure out. She stepped in own her poop as her balance is a bit off. She'll get it all figured out and make someone a great best friend.
Anybody ever see something like this pop up? Piper just had her bi-annual appointment and a hair cut last week, but it wasn't there (or at least noticeable) until I saw it yesterday.
Anyone have suggestions for a back seat cover for a supercab truck, specifically with the back seats folded up? Struggling to find something on Amazon that would work
My fool is built different. Almost 6, a little over 80 pounds and still doing 3 miles 5 times a week.
Spoiler This was last week, we were all a mess especially our middle child who never shows emotions. It fucking wrecked him
Carlos was invited on the fishing trip but due to his past exuberance and extreme lack of subtlety around the water, he was not invited to the actual fishing. Here he is making his failed case about how civil he could be. Lies.
This is the cutest thing I’ve seen today. Eggnog the Bulldog (horrible drink, hilarious dog name) looking like a little fat kid on the couch. Sound on. https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cp76UEXOqyj/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
i adopted Toby, collie and great pyrenees, from a friend back in February. he’s right at 12 months old and about 80lbs. love my giant good boy.
May I present Molly, our new foster and most likely soon to be family member. She’s almost 13, has no teeth and had been sitting at the SFSPCA since January after being rescued from a shelter with a high kill rate in Kevin McCarthy’s district (shocker). Wife works at the SFSPCA and noticed Molly wasn’t getting any looks. She is hypersensitive and at times aggressive if we go near her head and neck. I get the sense she was abused, especially from the way she reacts negatively to men as opposed to women (she’s bitten me twice but luckily no teeth, no harm). Surprisingly she gets along with our boy who himself has some fear aggression issues, but we’re running into trouble with her and our girl Penny interacting. Penny is pretty much blind and deaf, so she doesn’t know how close Molly or anyone else is to her until she bumps into them. I feel like our boy knows that Penny is blind and behaves accordingly with her, but Molly…does not. Wondering if anyone here has experience with a similar situation and if their dogs eventually learned/realized that their pack member can’t see? We really want to make this work since we are pretty sure we are her last chance. Somewhat tangent, wife was telling me the majority of the dogs at SFSPCA are rescued from the valley and not SF. Those counties are some of the reddest in the state. I forgot who said it, but insert quote here on measuring a society by the way they treat their animals.
I think I'm gonna start doing sleepovers, bringing random dogs home for the weekend to give them a break from the shelter life. Will probably start with the tripod Sadie as she's gotten a bit reactive lately, enough that she's been removed from the public viewing pod due to her outbursts. Already been working with her at the shelter and she's learned to fetch. Still need her to learn not to go for the ball as I'm picking it up, she's got me a couple times now. Anyone else do short term foster trips? Foster team asked if I'd be ok with taking home new strays and seeing if they're house trained and what habits they have. I worry about getting one that can clear a 6' fence.
