sorry man, i sound like a broken record but your family probably gave him a great life. It still hurts a lot but in retrospect it’s all just a positive
Hey all, if you are of the mind and ability to do so on this Giving Tuesday (or any day), I would be honored if you could contribute to the work we do down here with our rescue, The Pixel Fund. https://www.paypal.com/donate/?cmd=...d=RC98NPED6WE6S&source=url&ssrt=1733243212592 (it says "adoption fee" but it is the same for any donations) We are also on Venmo - @Pixel-Fund You've seen over the years the various fosters I've posted, and the need is so much greater now than ever before. Shelters are overflowing, fosters and donations are at record lows, and good dogs are dying every day for no reason. Even if you can't donate, a simple share on whatever social media platform you frequent would be awesome. Much love to all of the TMB Dog Crew, devotees of the master race.
This is Simone, my mom’s dog. 4 years old and she was a bredding dog(not sure i used that well) she had like 3-4 litters and then was not able to do it anymore so the owners gave her away. She had no idea how to interact with humans or dogs when my mom got her. Her progress over just a 6 month period is so fun to see, she was not smilling like this just a few months ago View attachment upload_2024-12-7_10-3-51.jpeg
I'm not crying; you're crying. Not sure if I ever posted him here, but here's Mack. I adopted him with my brother back in 2021 and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. He's deaf but loves everyone.
Fingers crossed for Miss Ellie, she is our senior foster who hopefully has a meet and greet today. We tried a foster-to-adopt situation for her last weekend that lasted all of 24 hours. Eskies are notorious for picking one person in the family to be "theirs" and attaching to them, and the rest of the people they will like but not to the same degree. Ellie chose her person to be someone other than the adopter so it didn't fly after that. Plus people have to know how to deal with a deaf and partially blind dog, so she won't be an easy adopt regardless.
Ended up at the ER vet with Ellie last night, she was really lethargic and stumbling during dinner so after about an hour of watching her we knew something was up. Turned out to be pyometra, if we had waited til morning to see how she was doing (my initial thought) she would have gone septic and died. They were able to get her into surgery early this morning, she came through it well and is recovering now. We just have to hope that it didn't do any permanent damage before they were able to get the uterus removed, so how well she recovers is anyone's guess at this point but early signs look good.
This is the 2nd time some random asshole has call the Humane Society because our husky prefers to sit outside on the porch. First time they contacted us, we built him a dog house bc they said it was required. Dog NEVER used it. Now, he lays under the covered porch, or likes to sleep besides the steps on the ground. Dog literally scratches the front door bc he wants to be out there. We fenced in our backyard so he could free roam, and he still prefers to sit on the porch. Dog warden Dave agreed to let us keep him out there as long as there's a water bowl.
Your neighbors, while likely having their hearts in the right place, need to find something else to do, that is really infuriating for sure. I'll leave mine outside for an hour at a time in good weather but we have a fenced yard so no one can see... Once AC has determined you're not a threat to the dog, they need to tell complainants to go fly a kite... jeez. Reminds me of the HOA in the neighborhood I used to live in, neighbor behind me just didn't like us and would complain about everything, got the HOA to send me all the usual letters. Last one was "our next step is a lawsuit" but what they were complaining about wasn't even true. I called the HOA dude and he said "yeah your neighbor is a pain in our ass too we just do what he says to get him off our back, we never checked to see if his complaints were valid".... no more letters after that
Dropped off Fiddle last Sunday morning before flying back to AL, first time we were apart and I was pretty anxious. Found a sitter on Rover that was 5.0 with over 100 reviews, she basically had a 6-day vacation with two cattle dogs: Spoiler Picked her up around 2:00 today, stopped by a dog park in the rain to just get gross and run, got back home and had a big bath and some new toys Spoiler Now on the couch with her asleep. Made some frozen treats for her, super easy: Spoiler About to wake her up with one and blow her mind. Life is better with dogs
Never shared my new pup, got him in July. He likes balls, like a lot a lot, I've never met a dog who likes balls this much. First I've had since losing my childhood beagle 9 years ago. So glad my kids finally have the chance to have a dog.
My husky Baxter collapsed in the kitchen yesterday. Struggled to use his back legs at all last night when I had to pick him up and carry him outside to use the bathroom. Whole body is limp today and he's barely responsive to any kind of stimulation. Fucking shitty how fast something can happen to make a 15yo dog go from pretty good to going into the vet tomorrow expecting to have to put him down. Miserable way to start 2025. At least I get one last day of watching football with him cuddling on the couch.
While not my pup, this hits close to home, literally. My neighbors lost their pup just after christmas. They let her out and she ate some poisoned dog food. They have it on camera some cunt randomly parks her car on the street, gets out and dumps some poisoned dog food behind their car that is parked in the driveway. They let the dog out to use the bathroom and she ate it and died. Could have just ss easily been any of us on the street.
So sorry man, 15 years old, last Day in the kitchen seems perfect (bad not a joke but a wink ) hard to give them a better Life than that
Baxter made it to the vet. Got a great day of laying around with him yesterday and slept with him in his dog bed last night. "The Surge" is definitely a thing. After not being able to move around much yesterday, when it came time to go on one last car ride his leash and collar jingle gave him a little spark and he took a couple steps on his own and had a smile on his face. Going to take a while to get used to the house feeling a little more empty. Our cat has been walking around the house looking for his friend
sorry for your loss. I’m sure you gave him his best life possible. And while that might not matter right now take a little comfort in knowing he knew he was loved and cared for. You gave him the ability to go to rest with dignity. May he rest in peace.
So sorry dude. Time won't heal all wounds, but it makes it bearable. 15 years is a hell of a life for a dog, and that's because of you.
peace and comfort during your time of grief and thanks for being a good steward to animals. Dogs are more than we deserve.
Update to this, it didn't work out for Ellie with that adopter, they had her for a week but their 15 year old Yorkie with heart failure wasn't taking well to it, was isolating himself, seemed more stressed, so they had to put him first. Ellie has been back here a week now, but she has another meet and greet that seems like it will be great so I'm hopeful again
