Ive always wanted one but have refrained from getting one due to living in a city apartment. Whats the temperament like? Tough to train?

Damn, but definitely take a pillow case and place it in their just to calm them. Also expect to be woken up at about 5 or so tomorrow morning. Do you live in a house or apartment?

I'm living in an apartment in dtown Lansing so it's doable but tough. I did start training and all that back home before I moved here though.

He can be really stubborn at times, but I'm of the opinion that's just due to his intelligence level. He's beyond smart. Picked up on "stay" the other day in about 30 minutes. He's really affectionate, almost to a fault. There are times I can't walk 10 feet down the hall without him being in between my legs, he loves physical contact in some way at all times.

Yea otherwise my place would be shredded in all likelihood, he's a big time chewer. I try not to leave him in there for extended periods of time though.

I can' really speak intelligently on how difficult it is to train them, but my neighbor had one growing up and it was one of the best dogs I've ever been around. Was a smart dog, loved to play, and was good around children. It was a cool cobalt blue color, and it looks like Murphy might be too.

Congrats bturns. The next several weeks are going to be hell. Daphne just got to the point where I can make her walk on her own from the kennel to the door when we wake up. She still has accidents every now and again but it's down from like 15 a week to 4 or 5 now. Still giving her treats for doing her business outside like a good pup.
The howling at night subsided for me after about 2 weeks. She occasionally howls when I leave just because she knows Tuesdays and Thursdays are days where she'll be alone most of the day (I have 4 day weekends and Wednesdays off from school so I don't think she minds too much).

I think Murph will end up like that, he's still only 5 months old. I'd say cobalt blue is a good way to describe his color. You can't really tell in the picture I posted because the lights are dimmed some. Not a true blue Weim because he doesn't have blue eyes also, but he's pretty close.

My suggestion to get Miz used to knowing where he needs to go to the bathroom. For the first couple weeks pick him up and carry him to the grass where you want him to go to the bathroom, and place him there. It took my dog Ace 2 weeks before he knew once he was placed on the grass outside that was where he was supposed to go, and no where else.

night number one has been a complete disaster. Miz (the male) has taken everything in stide. only barked a lil bit last night as was expected. Kelsey (the female) didn't stop barking last night. you would think it would just wear her out after awhile, not this lil girl. im running on 30 minutes of sleep because you "aren't supposed to do anything if they bark." i can deal with it to a certain extent but almost 8 hours of continuous barking is a little much for me. (i did get up around four to take them out to pee and to feed them. that seemed to shut her up for about an hour.)

good to have some support i guess...

what pisses me off right now is that they are both passed the fuck out in the kennel with the lights on and door open. but close that door or turn that light off and she will freak the fuck out...

Yours is a pure golden, right? I've never owned a golden or a poodle so I'm not sure what temperament she is exhibiting, but she has an episode for about 30 minutes every day where she decides to be a total bitch. Barks at me, tries to bite me, goes around fucking with everything she knows not to fuck with (bitter spray on everything). In literally less than a minute, she jacked my laptop charger, ran under the middle of the bed (exactly out of reach), and chewed right through it. Pissed me off beyond belief.

She generally likes her kennel, so what I did was take everything out of the office space in my room (kind of looks like a second walk-in closet), put up a baby gate in the doorway, and now that's her time-out. She fucking hates it and it quickly teaches her what she just did was wrong. Can't leave her for more than a few minutes though because puppies will quickly forget what they're being punished for.

It gets better, though. Once they start responding to their name and listening to your commands, it's a fucking treat.

    5yr old Weim mix, Jupiter.

Total asshole for 2 1/2 years. When he was a pup and left home alone (not crated:facepalm:) he destroyed many many household items. Throughout the years he's destroyed video game controllers, video games, couch cushions, bean bag, feather pillows (huge, huge mess), 2 or 3 cell phones, mattress, several books including my wife's Holy Bible she received as a child and lots of other shit.

Loves to play "I've got something I'm not supposed to have, now try and get it. Fucker."

He's a great training partner for running 5-10ks. He can run for days and helps me keep up my pace.

Also loves lay on the bed even though he's not allowed and he always, always, always lays on my pillows.

Since we're talking about weimers, here is a pic of my brother's weimer, Blue, from when I was watching him a couple weeks ago:

Blue's about 5, iirc. He's a good, smart dog. He loves attention, but he's also willing to chill and lay with you. He has tons of energy and loves to play fetch. He was pretty easy to train. He learned to sit, shake, high five, and lay down at a very young age after very little effort.

GF's dog has decided that he doesn't like to sleep on the bed anymore. He will jump down and go lay by himself after like an hour. First it was cool now it's like :embarrassed:

Got my lil man used to sleeping in the crate, sometimes I let him sleep in my bed though and he will come jump on my head to let me know he needs to go out. Been working on sit and stay with him, picked up on it pretty quick but still work to be done. Really want it to warm up so I can take him swimming.
