I play support in all the MOBAS I play so this one feels no different just more hotkeys and item activations. I only got one bot game in but I played Keeper of the light and I really like his kit.
A good kotl is probably the biggest pain the ass to play against in the whole game. One of swiggle 's favorite heroes.
as someone who came from LoL none of the heroes are the same everything is different everyone is awful
the games tonight were, on the whole, pretty damn good. that jungling enigma tilted me early but everything else - even the games we lost - were all pretty good.
That enigma was a literal account buyer. No matches played in over 3 years on that account until recently- 32% win rate in 300 games over 6 months. https://www.dotabuff.com/players/165945292/matches
Warlock and Lion were what I played a lot of when I started and would be my suggestions. Lion because a support with 2 disables is pretty much never a bad pick against any lineup and Warlock because he's kind of the ultimate teamfight support. Plus both have ultimates that are fun AF to use.
I‘ll avoid giving hero advice because everyone has different preferences, but definitely check out Crystal Maiden and Lich. Statistically best 2 supports in low level pubs rn. Positioning is suuuuuper important since things like blink daggers and force staffs have much lower CDs than blink/flash in League. Hide in trees or sit in the back a lot before team fights break out because if their cores see you, you’ll die nearly instantly. Mid to late game, if Kotl (or insert most other squishy supports) gets caught out, he’s dead in literally 2 seconds. Idk League much but that’s the single most important thing I’ve learned about supporting. Try to never show on the map if you can help it. If they have any invis heroes or anyone with shadowblade, it’s pretty much your responsibility to have dust in your inventory at all times, and probably a sentry to plant just outside of the tower range so no invis hero can initiate while your team takes a tower. Invis heroes absolutely destroy low level pubs because no one carries dust or understands vision Observer wards are super important, always try to plant on high ground. When you are losing, stick one at the entrances of your jungles to see enemy ganks, when you are taking towers/pushing, ward their nearby jungle to see them rotating in.
I'm going to work on earthshaker as well I really like the fissure stun. Positioning for supps especially squishes is essential in lol as well so I know how to blend and peel
I fucking love Centaur. Such a fun hero to play after you get hood and blink, nearly invincible late game
I like the feel of supports in Dota more because stuns last longer, feels like you can have way more impact with your CC
Pretty solid especially for turbo. Also god bless turbo mode. If your team is ass you only have to suffer for 15-20 max
Only took two games to get that classic MOBA rage, PA got 10 kills to start on us then got ganked twice, raged at his team then proceeded to tell us where his team was and where the their wards are while running it down mid for over 30 mins.
midas mode seems like it'll be awesome. the MoF/NaVi game today I caught was hilarious. Tomorrow is OpTic x2, which will be less fun because both CCnC and Pajkatt have minimal hero pools.
I love Midas mode tournament. The all chat shit talking is amazing. http://mm.moonduck.tv/bounties Also the WE’RE SMOKING challenge yesterday was hilarious.
Early game is definitely my weakness I understand the mechanics but still haven't gotten a feel for how strong heroes can be early game and their ability to tower dive me. That last game I started off horrible 0-6-6 then pulled it back to a respectable 7-8-16 until the pa came hunting for me.
BlazingRebel don’t support in the purest sense of the word. The reason is that your hero is wasted because: No one ends games when they should; no one knows how to capitalize and press advantages. There is always a late game. Because of 1, do you want an 1800hp CM or KotL at 50min into an enemy lineup that has four or five cores? The benefit a true support brings to a team is wasted at low mmr (pretty much completely wasted outside of coordinated team play.) Example: your core will farm ineffectively, you’ll have junglers, your money spent on observer wards will be wasted as the information provided isn’t utilized... etc, etc, etc. Rather than true 5pos heroes, play heroes that scale late game but can support in lane: Venge is perfect in this regard, Lich is still really strong and can be talented to throw mean snowballs with just a few items, earthshaker and omniknight get honorable mentions as well.
Yeah, understanding/realizing you or the enemy has kill potential is one of the hardest things to grasp when you first start playing. Just comes with time.
PA is a pub stomper. One of the easiest heroes to play, is countered more so by items than picks and people don't itemize correctly, and is strong in pretty much every phase of the game past 5 minutes. All that makes her one of the most picked heroes in the game, so I ban her all the time in the draft. A couple more simple tips for getting better: -Make your stats public and sign in to dotabuff and opendota. (They're free and great resources of information with stuff like hero counters) -Blink dagger and force staff are two of the best items in the game for the money. Mobility items are the least flashy items in the game so they're under-bought, but they have a higher win rate than most any other item of similar price. They're especially good on supports because you're squishy and they allow you to position yourself more safely, or get away from an enemy carry. -Stuns and silences win games. -Carry a TP scroll at all times
Head set recs? Looking for maybe a nice Bluetooth one I can get after Christmas with random money I receive.
Reasonable price and good www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-Lag-Free-Wireless-Headset-Headphone/dp/B01LYNEIEI?tag=headphonesaddict-20
Liquid randomed their first 3 heroes and got Mirana, Chen, Drow. NaVi randomed all 5 heroes. They got Slark, Dusa, QoP, Viper, Puck.
PPD on stream: "Hey bounty, can you take the wards and like, actually place them? Wait, I'm sorry, that was passive aggressive." "CAN YOU PLACE THE FUCKING WARDS?"
Bane is so strong rn. Being able to attack through nightmare gives him a lot more kill potential early than he used to have, and his talents are great.
Pajkatt plays an unbelievable morph. If he was as good on other carries as that hero, he'd be incredible. He was morphing into Sand King and Clock to get their stuns/escapes, then waveforming back and getting solo kills.
I could play the old morph pretty well but once the split push meta got killed for the 5 man early fighting meta he was pretty bad in low level pubs. New changes though really help him fight earlier, I should probably try it now, but seems like skill cap is insanely high. You have to morph and use skills super fast so you already have to have your strategy in your head even before you morph, which is p complicated for someone as bad at carrying as I am.
