So I am in love with the new Drow. Already liked the hero, and now it sped up farm speed incredibly with the insta-Ancient killing ult. The XP advantage is so key on the hero.
I wasn't sure if it was a little nerf or little buff, but I thought reddit was way overreacting when everyone called the hero dead. Just became a lot more situational, which is good. Hard carries shouldn't be 1st pick material/average to good against any lineup. Do you go MoM or something first item? I haven't played it yet but I figured something with a bunch of attack speed would accelerate you a lot with the proc chance.
No MoM, Start 6 tangos and 3 slippers. Then I finish 3 WBs, get treads, then Dragon lance. You attack so fast there's no need for MoM and it's reduced armor. Then I like SB if I need escape, but love getting Manta, MKB, Satanic, Butterfly. I should get BKB, but I'm bad. If you get a good start the game is over, but once I got shit on because I played it offlane but doesn't matter once you hit 6.

Handcuffed and I were talking, the changes have made dota arguably less enjoyable. I feel like if I’m not picking a top tier meta hero it’s not enjoyable. Playing support feels worse, despite gold changes. With cores getting such early stat items you feel more worthless sooner unless you are playing Lich, Dazzle, CM, Lion, maybe Bane/SS. There’s so many “meme” heroes right now they are in literally every game. Honestly not thrilled with 7.2, but I really enjoy playing OP heroes so i’ll Keep spamming Drow, Slark, and Luna.
7.2 is fucking trash i've lost 90% of my games unless i pick pa, and then i'm undefeated ban pa, other team first picks slark ban slark, other team first picks pa every. fucking. time.
went 5-0 tonight playing MK (90k damage, same as sniper), PA x2 (26-3 in one of them...), Drow (boring game where entire team wanted to farm our jungle so it kind of sucked), and Rubick. I'm warming up to the patch a little bit but the OP heroes are really fucking op. Still think the game would be better without talents and the admin could focus on just balancing the game better.
first drow game of 7.20 lmao at the poor DP i went against in mid https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/4263465718
so where's the dota crew these days? haven't seen ron in a couple of weeks. never see panda, obviously. swiggle quit the game, etc. i'm not playing a ton recently but i've played a lot the last couple of days. and my fav thing to spam right now is mid skywrath: https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/4271363679 (we lost but it sure as hell wasn't my fault... invoker had to jungle) https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/4273329191 you go 4-5 nulls + brown boots and one Q + W = >50% enemy health. they can't stay in lane at all and it's an easy lane win. you don't even need to skill ult because it costs a lot of mana + you do so much damage and can so quickly spam your Q + the E amplifies it. Sumail has been spamming mid Skywrath (hence the idea... and probably the impending nerfs, i'd bet) and he went 4Q, 4W, 4E before skilling ult. i've done the same and tried taking Ult after a couple in silence when it guaranteed kills and we were five-manning earlier. Sky obviously falls off a bit later in the game but most games aren't going super late, anyways. I saw Sumail buying first item blink into euls but I don't need that for my games. I've thought about blink but prefer ghost sceptor because I don't think I'd be quick enough to always disjoint. And force staff if needed is good enough for me + more int. Anyways, this hero is unstoppable mid rn.
I'm still playing. I might need to uninstall dota and reinstall to get my friends list working. skiedfrillet has played mid sky quite a bit iirc. Can snowball hard.
Been loving Dark Seer lately. Just one of those heroes where you can build pretty much whatever your team needs that game except for damage items.
Another skywrath mid: https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/4275018321 Started 10-0. They didnt have a lot of light int heroes to blow up quickly and it got a little frustrating with a techies + PA but this hero is op right now.
Skywrath mid is very fun. Not many heroes can sustain against him through his early harass. Key is to keep feeding yourself mangoes
https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/4277880987 feels good pounding smurfs that PA averages 750 gpm/800 xpm 12 kills, 3 deaths, and 9 assists a game
Recalibration starts in January with Mars Patch according to Dota2 twitter. I am going to throw my 10 games so hard so Handcuffed and I don’t have to play on my smurf. I’ll probably take a dota break until then
Update today might make me try to squeeze time in Re: rubick Arcana Oh lord I won’t buy it because Arcana’s are stupidly expensive but that is the most impressive Arcana to date
I know I complain about it all the time but there's a smurf in every game now. Just getting worse and worse. There's even an influx of chinese mmr abusers on NA servers recently.
An obvious smurf or booster from each of my last 4 games: https://www.opendota.com/players/414860085 https://www.opendota.com/players/396278690 https://www.opendota.com/players/99458100 https://www.opendota.com/players/249296608 (This one there's clearly 2 different people playing on it/a friend boosting it half the time) It's really not a big deal if you're just smurfing to play with friends a la RonBurgundy , because all you have to do to avoid that is turn on strict solo matchmaking, but it's so fucking annoying in roles.
i was winning a bunch of games and my mmr was creeping up to where 1k was in sight and i think i've lost like 6 in a row? i had an axe who bought holy locket and an urn before a blink. i had a safe lane mk who finished his echo sabre at the same time the opponent's spectre finished his radiance. i think i just need a new account tbh.
Probably. Also my 7 year old somehow deleted every single friend on my friends list. I'm not even mad, I'm impressed. Invites resent
do arcanas come down in price or are they tradable? the rubick arcana is the coolest thing i've seen in dota.
They go on the market in like a month or so and are trade-able, but prices are usually $35 at lowest iirc
There is honestly nothing worse in dota than playing 1 more game only for it to be a 70 minute techies game
it's just extra obnoxious because that techies wasn't even good. if AA bought sentries at any point before the first 35 min, we win. even with our terrible no-push draft.
It didn’t help that it was 1AM and I was just so tired I wanted to quit after 40 minutes. Old guy problems.
Just noticed non of these party ranked games has changed my badge % at all in the past 3 days.... Wonder if they changed the formula
https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/4286792653 tfw you're the only carry on your team and the only player not feeding and you're being flamed all game anyways. yet you still orchestrated the comeback after being down a lane of racks. man fuck these teammates. and i just remembered, after the game this shitty mid visage who was the lowest rank in the game goes, "not bad for my first visage game ever"
I know that BF builds are in general thought of as bad lately, but Jugg with a BF farms so incredibly fast with high move speed and attack speed. Big fan
BF is necessary on jugg imo because it’s a great mid game transition to diffusal/skadi/manta/deso. That farming rate is crazy
I have ~1700 games of dota I have 422 solo ranked games. and 426 party ranked games surprisingly close
it was my most ever per dotabuff. though i imagine at least half of that was just from hitting bristle and him never dying as my PL didnt know how to actually use his silver edge.
https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/4308143176 https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/4308143176 both games were quite similar. i dominated and it was like pulling teeth with trying to get my team to do anything. my jugg in game 2 went bfury + basher before getting brown boots. game 1, i'll just let the AM's damage tell the story and you can guess what he was doing all game.
made a resolution to play at least two ranked matches tonight. gonna give mid ranked roles a shot since that's the position i can grasp best at the moment.
also, even though he can be super condescending, i've been finding BSJs coaching session VODs on youtube super helpful for concepts and role definitions through different stages of the game.
