I read about it on the subreddit briefly but there’s obviously both sides to the story and I’m not sure I’m getting it 100% but as I recall, the players wanted to stop playing for GG I believe but they couldn’t leave and still maintain their TI invite. They requested to leave the org but still go to TI and even use the GG tag, however once GG found out they just said no one is going at all. There was quite a bit of back and forth about GG not playing the players etc, but who knows. It was a big stink leading up to TI though.
To add to this, the rumored reason the players wanted to leave the org was that the org tried to kick their coach without consulting the players, who all wanted to keep him. Also to be clear, valve still invited the players, but GG was threatening a lawsuit if they went, so the players had to decline.
gotta suck winning TI 15 or whatever they're on knowing that 7 years ago the prize pool was 40x the size.
I haven't been gone from the game so long that I didn't see ame throw the match when they were defending tier 3s on the middle lane. What a toxic and disgusting lineup falcons ran in that game
It’s so weird because the player base is still high and people still spend money but valve literally doesn’t want to make money on battle passes anymore. Bizarre
Yeah, happy for Sney, Cr1t, and Aui. Cr1t's been awesome forever so him never getting a TI would've sucked.
Still love Dota. my oldest is getting close to the same age I was when I first played WC3. fucking old.
I’m a huge fan of the addition of facets for each hero, big fan of aghs shard, and I’ve come to accept and tolerate talents. Huge fan of 5 couriers that auto upgrade and not sharing 1. Fuck that. Big fan of Turbo. Only way I can play. I still don’t like the addition of innate abilities, they are really imbalanced. I don’t like neutral items - feels too RNG. I also want to see position 6 come back - too much gold on the map and map size too big.
I don’t disagree on position 6 but I would imagine it’s never coming back just because it’s hard enough getting people to want to support and it’s even harder with the knowledge that you’re going to be broke
One of the more interesting changes in recent years is that positions 1-3 are almost interchangeable now.
I think it would be easier to swallow if all gold decreased for all heroes. I think it’s really hard to fight power creep in any game and decreasing item progression 100% slows down games.
What is wild is how unpopular offlane is. It’s the least preferred role now, even worse than pos 5. And people are preferring to play 4 than mid now. least desirable -> most desirable 3,5,2,4,1. Offlane was more popular back when you got trilaned and were fucking miserable for 10 minutes in landing phase.
There are differences I definitely miss, but I fucking love modern turbo. Being 6 slotted as a support at 25 minutes and just having big team fights all game is dota crack.
Wow, he was still one of the best mids in the scene. Don’t see many guys retire in their prime without a golden parachute TI win. Cool he’s sticking around though.
