There was a time and place where people would call him “Dr DisrespectsHisWife” in his chat and he would almost have an aneurysm every time. For a dude who’s 6’8” and gets paid $20MM to play video games and pretend to be a wrestler it’s hard to imagine he’d be that easily sent into orbit. That and there’s rumors the person he cheated with wasn’t consensual but with his sponsors now picking him back up it’s much harder to jump to that conclusions.
Losing millions because you wanted to be a corona truther is an appropriate end to your career if that's what he actually got banned over.
That makes a little more sense. The way it’s been presented, no context/additional details, was confusing. Like you said, he wears a costume, has a schtick, and working in the gaming industry - I just wouldn’t assume anyone, let alone his employer, would hold him to this high moral standard where cheating would be a huge scandal/fireable offense... like he’s a pastor, politician, or something along those lines. Newsworthy sure, but Twitch having morality clauses in their contracts would be surprising.
If someone is paying you millions to broadcast to thousands of people why would morality clauses be surprising? FWIW I agree If they let him go because he cheated on his wife that's bullshit, but there are certainly other reasons to have morality clauses for example if you're a corona truther and talking about that shit while streaming. OR if you're white supremacist and you start pushing your ideology while streaming.
I hear ya, but I think they’re a little different scenarios. Like spreading potentially dangerous misinformation is one thing, and I’m not sure falls under the classification of a “morality” issue. Cheating on your wife is part of your private life and doesn’t affect your job/work as an entertainer. And assuming it didn’t crossover into his work/work associations somehow, I just don’t see why people would care. His target audience isn’t kid-kids, he’s not trying to be a role model, and internet culture being what it is, just seems a bit much.
Here to bump the thread, and let it be known I find him entertaining in small doses. I enjoy when the streamers play together and just rag on each other, while also being very good at the game. cloakzy is who I enjoy right now. I enjoy Timthetatman as well. He's not as good as the rest, but it's funny when he rages.
I mean idk if you guys noticed but this went from a murder mystery to us virgins defending our rights to entertain ourselves months ago
I'm way too proud to click "watch" on a thread of such subject matter, but I'm also worried I'll miss the news when it comes out.
I don't know shit about Twitch or this dude, but I was bored last night and watched a few videos and he actually was entertaining and surprisingly self-aware. Watched a video of him fucking with a hacker and then another one of him playing with some kid. Kept calling himself "two-time" and I had no idea what it meant. I was more entertained than I thought I'd be. That is my important update for the day. Thank you.
From a mindless entertainment perspective in the middle of a half-year long quarantine, he’s pretty funny to watch. He’s pretty much an overly exaggerated caricature of what you’d expect a 40+ year old dude who sits in a basement and plays video games all day to be.
Yeah back in the day when I played COD I used to occasionally watch videos of dudes getting like 500 kills and zero deaths until it got kinda old. They'd always be SUPER serious and get pissy when teammates didn't properly identify their whereabouts with landmarks and other shit on the maps. This guy doesn't seem to have super skills or anything from what I saw in the two or three clips I watched. He was playing what appeared to be COD on a giant map with no killstreaks.
They’re called Battle Royale game modes and they’re pretty much the most popular thing in gaming atm. Doc has been playing them since the H1Z1 days several years ago and then they took off in popularity with PubG, Fortnite, Blackout (CoD Black Ops 4) and now Warzone (CoD Modern Warfare). He had above average skill but does nothing but run head first into every fight.
I've been watching some of the 10-20 minute "highlight" videos on youtube. His act can be funny to me, so over the top. But watching him, or any other streamer, daily for hours with all the in between stuff not good enough to make the highlight videos doesn't sound enticing. He's been banned, but is he still technically under contract with Twitch? Or does the banning void his contract? Could be why he isn't back streaming yet. I would assume if it were something legal, we would have seen something by now. also, this is strangely mesmerizing:
This seems like the appropriate place to put this; I stumbled across this on reddit the other night. Apparently there is a giant pedophile/sexual assault scandal unfolding in the Super Smash Bros competitive gaming world impacting a bunch of the top players/streamers.
