mixer isn't the only other platform signing folks and locking up one of the biggest streamers who makes you absurd money is good, i just find the bending over backwards arguments to make it seem like a contract dispute tough to square the business side of twitch doesn't give a shit about docs twitch comments imo, similar to I imagine them offering ninja huge money to sign exclusive with them currently.
I don't disagree with your analysis I am just saying that I could absolutely see them pulling the trigger on a guy they don't like who they owe a ton of money to for a reason less crazy than fucking kids. Similar situations have happened within Google during my time at the company. But again you could be absolutely correct
if its something tame like a contract dispute it just doesn't make sense that his sponsors aren't out in front saying how supportive of him they are, looking forward to years of working together, his agency would be doing an insane PR push vs the bizarre couple of interviews they've helped him manage
yeah I 100% am not saying the kid stuff is true, it just seems the most sensible conclusion based on what we actually know is at a minimum its a legal allegation that is trying to be settled on the side with NDA's for everyone and Doc can try to staple his career back together as best he can
Thats fair. It definitely muddies the water that Doc was beginning to dip his toes into very weird shit towards the end of his time on twitch. Anyone who goes in that direction could get in trouble in other areas
yeah he genuinely seems unwell and/or genuinely losing the plot of reality with now going into Holocaust denier conspiracies
In a weird way its an arch ive seen a lot of people go through especially during quarantine. Relatively normal people i know, given unlimited time at home to watch youtube videos and be fed weirder and weirder shit by the algorithm have become full on conspiracy weirdos. 5G, Q Anon, etc
Pure speculation, but I think this type of talk made them see him as a walking liability that would eventually lose them money. He’s done so much dumb shit I’m sure it’s not hard for them to terminate the contract with cause.
I could buy this maybe, that they banned him for the COVID conspiracies then going into holocaust denial shit. The former they'd been policing aggressively (unless you were big like Doc) and both are clearly against TOS. Be a little proactive to kill that cash cow though unless there were other things behind the scenes much more concerning in the same vein.
Absolutely. The mainstreaming of all that kind of thinking is one of the worst unforeseen consequences of video recommendation algorithms and facebook culture in general. The fact that 14 congressional candidates who made it past the primary believe in it and that cabinet level officials in the white house buy in to it is insanely frightening. It has all the hallmarks of a cult. A guy i went to college with who was totally normal 6 months ago now posts to facebook 20 times a day from Q Anon groups and seems to have worked himself into a frenzy about the oncoming martial law and execution of high level democrats
tim and cohh are the only twitch streamers id give stupid money to. both incresibly nice guys with zero controversy ever.
You may not be in to the games he plays, but you would like Lethalfrag if that’s what draws you to watch streamers.
i like tim because he's a hilarious idiot and cohh because he plays literally everything. i'll check out that guy and add him to my list of 150+ that im following
tim pretending to be trump for a day was about as controversial as he ever got, and that was back when twitch was much more friendly to that type of gamer/not as close to as mainstream as it is now he's probably the #1 reason Twitch became my background noise choice
yes and there a MASSIVE difference in satire and truly supporting a guy. he's just a good dude who plays games with his friends while letting everyone pay to make fun of him. its brilliant really.
I gotta say it gets me good when Timmy gets pissed off at a game and starts dropping f bombs left and right.
or threatens to punch his monitor when he gets wiped after hot dropping superstore for the 100th time in a row.
If it was just a contract dispute he easily could just have leaked that to someone to spread so the more serious allegations would stop
Still has no idea why per him As far as he's concerned he didn't do anything to warrant a ban, no communication before or after
Given the amount of money involved, his legal representation is probably telling him to stay quiet about it.
But why would Twitch? If it was a contract dispute, I cannot imagine why they’d keep that quiet unless the dispute was that they couldn’t pay him (and that seems unlikely).
i was finally told what he's accused of he allegedly groomed and ultimately assaulted (at twitchcon a couple of years ago) a 15-16 year old girl. he was apparently "whispering" to her (?) and talking to her in discord for a long time, and she apparently makes it clear that she is underage in this "filthy" logs. there's a police investigation happening and police came to twitch, not the other way around
would make sense why Twitch and Discord acted at the same time if they both found out at the same time
