Haven’t listened to the new one yet, but I thought patterson’s vocals on the original fit the song well.
Anyone listened to the Sound Emporium EP yet? I bought it this morning at my local store but haven’t thrown it on the turntable yet.
Amanda’s track: Pretty good Jason’s track: Okay. Some of the lyric choices turned me off. Tour of Duty: This is the definitive version. Beeswing: Really wanted Jason on vocals for this. Not sure I needed to hear Amanda on it.
I heard the blade broke off inside the man and he took a while to die How did he get so low? Seems like just a week ago we were 10 and 12 years old He was sweet and soft and shied away from the inside fastballs And died doing life without parole Good god
People were posting it to r/castiron where nerds collecting cast iron were liking it but the mods took it down I'm a weirdo who likes to hear all the song as a whole album once it comes out but it's becoming hard.
I actually saw that on the shop when they announced the new merch drop a week or so ago. Makes muuuuuuuch more sense now
Reddit nerds think that they’ve found the story of cast iron skillet. https://www.tuscaloosanews.com/stor...ry-convicts-man-of-felony-murder/27805192007/
Growing up in the area, I remember this murder story pretty vividly. Really hit hard in a small town without much violent crime. Interestingly enough, the restaurant where this happened was about 1,000 ft from the Super 8 that that song is based off of (Its now called Lakeview Inn and Suites).
The way I understand it (and this could be wrong, but I think Jason mentioned it at the Live at the Shoals Theater show), Isbell would drive by this Super 8 every single day on his way into town from Green Hill. I think the song is a combination of multiple different stories, but that this Super 8 inspired the title, etc.
Makes sense. That story in the doc about Shanna smacking him awake and then going and getting married the next day sounded similar but not the exact same as the song
Bathroom directly to your right down 2 flights of stairs. Very few people realize its down there and its always empty.
Watching some YouTube and it got me thinking that Outfit is my favorite song I haven’t seen. I saw Decoration Day on my 5th show in Auburn this past fall.
