I've got tickets to the Truckers show at the tabernacle coming up. I have seen Isbell four or five time but this will be my first time seeing DBT. I am excited.
Had Isbell tickets in Mobile but sold them and will also be there for Sunday in New Orleans. 9pm start... should be a great Monday at work.
the availability of so many professionally recorded jason isbell live performances on youtube and on albums is one of our greatest national treasures.
Show #8 was a great success. Moreland is the man. Isbell played more older stuff than usual, which was a nice change-up. Encore consisted of Danko/Manuel, Super 8, and Can't You Hear Me Knocking.

Thought last night was great, even though a 10:30 start wasn't ideal on a Sunday. Dont think he played Alabama Pines, which is rare. Looks like he inserted Outfit for that. But yes, lots of good, old songs.
Yep, first show I've seen where he didn't play Alabama pines. At one point, I was sure he was going to play it, then he played relatively easy. Nole0515 will be happy to know that he also played decoration day, since he didn't play it at the mobile show.
For the nye show. Prine and Isbell together, it hasn't happened yet but I'm confident it won't be beat.
I can't stop listening to We Are All Gonna Die I resisted at first because it immediately came off so different, but man is it good after a second (and third, fourth) listen
I retract this statement. After a few more listens, I really enjoy this album. Ever South is an amazing song. Still didn't love English oceans.
Why wasn't I tagged in this?I fucking love the album. It grew on me quickly and now I put it ahead of All Your Favorite Bands and Stories Don't End. It's so ambitious but it works because the songwriting is still top notch. When the Tequila Runs Out (ostensibly the worst song on the album) took a lot of shit itt but when you listen to the words, the satire is pretty clear and it's actually pretty good. And every other song is an absolute banger, although I'm partial to Roll With the Punches, Picture of a Man, and Roll Tide.
those three are sticking out above the rest for me as well. also really like everything about As if by Design - lyrics are incredible
As If By Design is great too. Also really enjoy the titular song. It's just such a dynamic record that encompasses so many different styles. Very excited to see how they'll play them live. Saw a short clip of Taylor playing Roll With the Punches at Billy Reid for some event and it sounded totally different but equally awesome.
Seeing DBT tomorrow night in Charlotte. First show since Homecoming for me, pretty excited to hear most of the new songs live for the first time.

There was an elective at Bama called "The Duality of the Southern Thing: The Southern Gothic and the Drive-By Truckers" that I will never forgive myself for not taking.
The flying/acceptance of the Confederate Flag has a lot to do with that. But I generally agree. They were pretty progressive (aside from the flag) all things considered.
Saw DBT in Macon Thursday night. They rocked and played a great show but man, Patterson seems like an angry guy. Went on several politically infused rants during the set. Was kind of odd.
Have you never seen them? Patterson often goes on politically Infused rants and has always has politically infused lyrics.
I have and knew he was very political but he was laying into the crowd this time. told everyone to STFU at one point.
