whats spotify? i see it on facebook all the time but have no idea. Roison Dubh, go see DBT live or DL a live show here http://southernshelter.com/category/drive-by-truckers/ and you'll never stop listening
Using Spotify now. How do I get rid of the annoying pop-up messages ("Click here to create a new playlist!")?
I definitely hear a lot of Deadstring Brothers in DBT. Listen to "Sacred Heart" and "Blindfolded," if you get a chance.
will check them out I've been meaning to ask if anyone has any other good bands like DBT, Isbell, Lucero
I'll recommend some individual "get into them" songs. Deadstring Brothers ("Sacred Heart," "Blindfolded," "Meet Me Down at Heavy Load") The Dirty Guv'nahs ("Baby We Were Young," "Ain't It Crazy," "We'll Be the Light," "It's Dangerous," "Blue Rose Stroll") Dan Baird & Homemade Sin ("Damn Thing To Be Done," "Don't Know What It's Like") Son Volt ("Windfall") Drivin' n' Cryin' ("Honeysuckle Blue," "Straight to Hell") Uncle Tupelo ("Mooonshiner") Gob Iron ("Little Black Train")
start with Pizza Deliverance, then listen to Southern Rock opera. this is the only correct way to introduce yourself to the truckers
I'm absolutely convinced that if more people new about The Dirty Guv'nahs, they'd be huge in a hurry. I'll continue by DBT search tomorrow, but I like some of the stuff for sure.
I saw the drive by truckers for the first time at sitting on the bricks opening for blues traveler in like 2004n and they blew blues traveler out of the water with "rock southern opera, but now w/o jason isbel they're good but not the same.
I dont know what actually happened with the group, all I know is that Jason Isbell and her divorced and then he left the band. I'll take DBT with him over DBT with her any day of the week
Yeah I've seen them 3-4 times and they've been phenomenal at every one. Pretty excited about their new CD but wish it would be out sooner. They're probably my favorite band right now and have been for a while.
Never Gonna Change and Goddamn Lonely Love are two of my top 5 I'm Sorry Huston is nowhere near there
Hasnt even been recorded yet, so it would be safe to say "late 2012" at the earliest. Hope they dont rush it.
Vols definitely did one thing very, very right! What's cool is 5 of the 6 guys in DG have Master's degrees (from UT, but post-grad degrees nonetheless).
Saw Isbell last night at Workplay in Birmingham, Paul Shaffer was there for some reason and they played a bunch of Muscle Shoals songs. Letterman was in the balcony. It was fucking fantastic.
they're gonna play a few more shows then take a well deserved break, during the break they will start working on a new album. with Shonna gone it means the album will be strictly Patterson and Cooley, which should excite the fuck out of everybody. will be at the Isbell show next week (on the 23rd) when I'm back home, really looking forward to it. To those that are on twitter Isbell is an excellent follow, very funny guy.
