Between all his prior shit and the three new albums that likely never see the light of day now, Ryan’s going to be way up there for biggest amount of unreleased music in a catalog.
Saw that Isbell is going to be at the Santa Barbara Bowl, need to just pull the trigger on tickets. My buddy wants to go but he’s married and not sure he can make it.
Night Two: Got some deep cuts and Cooley on harmonica for a song. Great show. I’ve been keeping up with this thread for a long time. Listen to everything Isbell helps with. I’ve listened to DBT albums - Pizza Deliverance to Brighter Than Creations Dark - countless times. What is their best album outside this time frame. Yes, I realize this is an odd 1st post.
Sometimes I think about how funny it’d be if Patterson accidentally mixed up 18 Wheels of Love and Three Great Alabama Icons. “And she told Chester, ‘crazier things have happened but you’re never gonna be able to drive again,’ and he’s in hell now”
When a law prevented him from succeeding himself he ran his wife Lerline in his place and she won by a landslide. They got married in Dollywood. By a Porter Waggoner lookalike.
According to Patterson, they professionally recorded all four nights of Homecoming this year. So, live album or something similar coming perhaps.
I don’t hate anything of hers I’ve heard, though admittedly I haven’t heard a lot. If Carlile and Shires felt like she was worthy then that’s enough for me
Hard to tell sometimes what this thread is more geared toward - but I do know everyone appreciates good songwriting. In that vein it’s criminal that Brandi Carlile’s By the Way, I Forgive You hasn’t been championed more itt. It is without a doubt one of the best written albums I’ve ever heard from start to finish. Easily my favorite album of 2018.
Maren can really sing, pairs well with Brandi’s voice especially. As for her music, her new album is mostly a pop record, but it’s smart to include someone that has a different fan base. Maren’s not short on talent, that’s for sure.
Brandi has a powerful voice when she turns it loose. Maren’s mainstream appeal and Shires’ old school quiver seem to have all the bases covered. I’m not worried about songwriting either with those 3. And you know Isbell and Cobb have their fingerprints all over it.
I've heard two of Morris' songs. They are miserable. Tell me about all the stuff Maren Morris has written. Hint, there isn't anything. I like Carlie and tolerate Shires' suicide talking voice due to Isbell, but this is not gonna be good. Margo Price bailed on this for a reason. However, Dave Cobb can make just about anything sound good.
You may not like her but she writes all of her songs and was a songwriter with credits on 20 songs that aren’t hers. She’s definitely a pop artist but I’d listen to her stuff before any Florida’s Georgia line bullshit any day
The Morris song "my church" was one of the most tolerable mainstream country songs in recent memory. Haven't been able to get into shires although I've tried. Will check out the BC album. Do you guys like Ashley Mcbryde?
Shires last album is absolutely fantastic, and one of my favorites from last year. Margo is the queen of country music to me, however. Both of her albums are amazing.
