Already sold out, but will be streamed on Lightning 100
Local record store owner is hosting that benefit concert. Goes to introduce Isbell, “...his new album Sirens Of The Ditch comes out April 3rd”
Jason walks out and grabs the mic “Dammit Mike that album came out 15 years ago”
What've I done to help was really good live
its a shame he never plays much of anything from that album
Speaking of, I was really hoping to get a Dress Blues at that solo acoustic show for Doug Jones last week.
Feel like you gotta go a Ryman show to hear anything from Sirens of the Ditch
Truckers postponed their show in Chicago tonight :(
Had tickets. Much happier to go in September.
I've enjoyed the new stuff. It has a lot of 24 Frames in it. I've heard Be Afraid multiple times on SiriusXM Spectrum (channel 28). They seem to like his stuff on that channel, mainly Kristine Stone as they played Vampires a few years back.
Of the new songs that I have heard, Overseas is probably my favorite.
Live music this week if anyone is interested.
Jason put out a lot of live shows on nugs last week
All the Ryman shows from this last run are on there.
Other than Chick Fil A’s 4th best item, what are nugs?
No idea but I’d like to hear your top 3 (I’m guessing it’s all variations of the sandwich)
Currrently on nugs.net as me all your nug questions
Is the Red Rocks show from last September on there? Would love to listen to it again
Capstone & Jason Isbell CFA power rankings:
1) Spicy sandwich and all variations
2) regular sandwich and all variations
I now know what I’m gonna make for dinner and it’s strips using a pickle juice brine
Day’s been made.
What is this nugs you speak of?
Nugs.net. its basically Spotify for live shows to an extent. Free 30 day trial. $13 a month give or take. I haven't pulled the trigger. Yet
now seems like a great time for that 30 day free trial.
I can't load IG on my work browser but I already know this is the Isbell Heathens post. Amazing. Would love to hear him cover some more of Patterson or even Cooley's songs.
His cover of Patterson’s The Assassin is one of my favorites.
I want to hear Cooley cover some Isbell.
That was strangely entertaining and calming amongst everything going on.
Finally got it and it’s awesome.
New track Only Children
Need to listen when I haven't had as many drinks. Not my favorite. Overseas is still my favorite new song.
I like that one more than the first two releases, on initial listen.
Cannot wait for the album cut of Overseas.
Really? I'd rate it:
Overseas (first time he played it was at the Santa Barbara show that I was at )
What have I done to help
I heard "Letting you go" acoustic with Amanda Shires and I really liked it, but not sure if I can count it cause how personal they made it to their daughter at the show.
Overseas is still my favorite out of the new album but I really like Only Children. I think it's better than Be Afraid and What Have I Done to Help.
Love this song a bunch.
Sounds like I need to give it a listen again sober
Like that a lot. Like that version of Isbell a lot more than the 24 Frames version, generally.
My favorite of the official releases as well. I like all 3, but don't love. I imagine they'll continue to grow on me though.
Is Only Children about Shonna?
What Have I Done to Help
Meanwhile Dawes released a song about dogs lol
12-29-03 - Cooley's House (Gardendale, Alabama)
This is a must listen if you're a DBT fan and haven't heard it before. It's essentially an unplugged house show at Cooley's house they are playing for their wives/GFs/crew. Shonna is still pretty new, and you can hear Jason calling out cords and what not during some songs. The sound quality is also really good which is a real treat.
01) Zip City
02) Lookout Mountain
03) Decoration Day
04) Winter Wonderland
05) Love Like This
06) Too Much Sex, Too Little Jesus
08) Where The Devil Don't Stay
01) Murdering Oscar
02) When The Pin Hits The Shell
03) Do It Yourself
05) George Jones Talkin' Cellphone Blues
06) Uncle Frank
07) Goddamned Lonely Love
08) The Company I Keep
09) Little Pony And The Great Big Horse
10) Never Gonna Change
11) The Day John Henry Died
12) Tales Facing Up
13) Bulldozers And Dirt
I'm not sure. I thought he referenced Shonna in "What have I done to Help" when he talks about lying on the bible and how "she didn't deserve it".
Of course the entire God Damn Lonely Love is about her but he hasn't written about her in years.
It's...fine. Feel like this one will grow on me more than What Have I Done to Help.
this was a lot of fun to listen to today. It reminds me of their documentary. Young Jason was really loud and boisterous and a whole lot different than the Jason we see now. He pretty much ran that little show and you can barely even hear Patterson.
