She’s great. How is she related. Her boyfriend Kevin morby is really good too
They just have similar styles and are both from Alabama. I know Patterson and Jason have both publicly praised her.
I might go just because the venue is close. I’ve only listened to a few of her songs but really enjoyed her cover of Streets of Philadelphia
St. Cloud is a great song.
Go for sure to see her.
She also has a twin sister who is very talented.
She has Katy Kirby opening for her, whose album this year is wonderful.
Saturday before Dawes plays, Julien Baker is in Atlanta. She may have my favorite album of the year.
The whole St Cloud album is incredible. She also does a fun Country Roads Take Me Home cover with Whitney.
Yep. My wife has known them since high school. They were The Ackleys before splitting up to do their own thing.
absolutely love Julien Baker's new album.
Never listened to the entirety of Palmetto rose because I didn't really like they intro/verse. Heard the ending on PGA tour radio of all places. What a song.
Definitely one of those songs I always forget about but get really excited when it comes on.
Bought four tickets to Dawes in Atlanta. Can’t wait. One of the last things I did before the pandemic was the 2020 homecoming shows. Hopefully we can get this Dawes show in. Would be nice (as nice as it can be) to start and finish this thing seeing my favorite bands.
Same but he opened a show with it once and loved it, so now it’s a full listen.
It’s a war that we wage to get up every day
Unrelated and I’m sure it’s been said before, but Ray McKigney is an elite username/profile pic combo.
What if I were to tell you that nothing of the sort has been said prior to today, so thank you for the affirmation. I’ve always said you were probably the smartest and best poster here. I go largely unnoticed on TMB, but that is likely attributable to limiting myself to only sporadic shitposting over the last decade or so.
Palmetto Rose hits extremely hard.
Flight and hotel booked for Dawes ATL. Norm Peterson and I were trying to go to Whitefish MT for the Under the Big Sky fest with Isbell and Childers. Hotels, Airbnb, Vrbo and all campgrounds sold out for those dates. Also no rental cars available
Bought a dawes ticket last week. Excited.
Real shame I wont listen to it
This probably makes me a bad person but I like his last album and think Birmingham is a good song.
Yep. Figured I’d post it anyway since we’ve had numerous Ryan Adams discussions ITT.
SMTF was the album that got me into Isbell, and I always loved that song bc of the references to the Charleston area where I grew up. Then he opened with it at my first Isbell show, and it’s been a top tier song of his for me ever since.
I think it’s the opener for that Boston House of Blues show on YouTube as well.
You are correct. I watched it on YouTube this morning. Great song.
it doesnt. He's a great musician with very real demons but he went way to far for me to listen to him again
Palmetto Rose is so good live
Someone put some real clean audio files of that show on Dropbox. It might’ve been someone on TMB, I can’t remember. I still listen to that show in full on longer trips. It’s great.
Hey man, if you’ve ever seen me post you know there’s no judgment there.
Anybody got a RV we can borrow?
First concert tickets purchased in over a year.
Both days are great, but that Sunday lineup is wonderful.
Dawes at the Eastern guys, did you go through this AXS site for VIP tickets?
Thank you and only you, wlfpck
Just kopped tix for Isbell on Sept 26th in Richmond. Never miss a Sunday show, amirite? Dukes you going?
Dawes on Sept 14th then Isbell 12 days later..
Just booked this also. Wife is a gigantic DMB fan. Too good of a lineup to pass up. Looks like we’re going to Kentucky for our 10 year anniversary.
Yup grabbed tickets yesterday during the presale. Old Crow the week before too. I’d like to hit the Dawes show but it’s a weekday and three shows in two weeks is hard to pull off with a 20 month old and a 3 month old.
It he lyrics to Overseas get kinda overlooked because the music is so incredible but goddamn at the lines:
And I saw you in our daughter’s eyes last night
When she caught me in a lie
And I needed you here to make both of us believe
I've always really liked:
And the waiter made a young girl cry
At the table next to mine tonight
And I know you would have brought him to his knees
Overseas is a top ten JI song
Are we counting Truckers-era songs in that? Because that list gets crowded mighty quick.
Yes. It would be a top five 400 unit song for me
Nowhere near top 5/10 for me.
In no order
Children of Children
If We Were Vampires
Something More than Free
Speed Trap Town
Cover Me Up
Goddamn lonely love
Cigarettes and Wine
Letting You Go (this could be just a me thing)
Streetlights (most underrated Isbell song)
All hit for me more than Overseas at the very least and that’s giving short shrift to Southeastern
Srs that last stanza in Streetlights is poetry
This is an awful opinion
