not sure where to go from here but definitely needed a reset in the worst way. thanks fellas. here’s to healthier habits
I ended mine Thursday but I planned on doing that. Congrats to everyone who made it to the end. Great job guys. I think I'll only be drinking on weekends moving forward. So this was a good reset for me. Glad I did it.
Props to everyone in the thread for whatever progress you made. I made better decisions this month and I’m starting week 2 of weight training. Leggo.
Made it. Rather than pop a top on a Monday, I think I’m going to wait til the super bowl. I’ve got about 10 new bourbons to try so next Monday is going to suck
I’m going to continue to not drink at home for a while. I don’t miss it at all. I’ll go back to having a beer if we go out to eat or in social situations but keep it cut out at home for a while and see how it goes.
I probably had one or two drinks 90% of nights in 2020. My wife is pregnant with our second so now that January is over my new goal is no alcohol during the week and only one day on the weekend. Since she isn’t drinking and I went a month without I don’t have the urge to open a bottle of wine or a beer while making dinner that had become routine for us last year.
Good job to all that made healthier life decisions this past month! I was not sober all month, but only drank during Chiefs games. Aside from Super Bowl Sunday, I'm going to try to do a mostly sober February as well.
I didn’t do an entire dry month, but I have cut down on my drinking considerably and rarely drink on a weekday anymore. But we had the in laws over for dinner last night and I drank too much wine, and it’s a good reminder today of why I stopped drinking as often as I used to. I really prefer waking up feeling awesome instead of feeling polluted and groggy.
I started on Inauguration Day. On day 19. Shooting for 60. Nice work to all those who made it through January
2 weeks down boys. I don't really feel better and I haven't really lost much weight. In fact, I'm more stressed on the weekends. Maybe it will get better in weeks 3 and 4.
Neither bothers me. It’s not on my mind a lot. I just have a stressful job and having some drinks on weekend is good way to wind down. I work out etc to help. Being cooped up with pandemic doesnt help.
Monday after Super Bowl is a perfect time for some sobriety and fitness routines Over a month til St Paddy’s, few months til day drinking/golf/grilling weather in many parts of the country
Just found out Covid “took down” two friends recently. Apparently both were drinking way too much and it turned into dependency over time. One had to check into the hospital to detox and the other managed to get clean about a month ago. Dry January was mostly a success for me. I’m thankful to be able to pull it back when necessary.
I’m sorry to hear of your losses. I recently lost a friend to alcoholism, no clue how much Covid played into his passing. I cannot help but think even if not directly related, the current climate indirectly impact my friend. Alcohol use is not a joke.
sorry for your loss. I think and I could be wrong but I believe both of jbr ‘s friends are still alive.
Still going strong. Even went to the store and bought 2 bottles of bourbon to add to my collection. I've just been admiring them on the bar cart. The weight is starting to come off now.
My bff's trip has been cancelled because of the weather. So my plan to end Dry January is ruined. What to do what to do?
Finished 4 weeks of The Prep in January, just finished week two of The Work down 8lbs, have only drank 3 days during week of Super Bowl Doing ok I think
I'm still bone dry. I have so much booze in this house. I want to try the beers I got from Secret Santa also. Anyone else completely dry?
